Once Steve got back to the Coronado Hotel with Sarah, they met with Chris and Gwen. "Sarah, if it's okay with you, I have a friend I want to bring in on this. I think he will be
much help for you. His name is Brian, he's an FBI agent, he's here in the men's Villa. He just the person we need to give us some advice and direction. Well you be willing to talk with him. He's a great guy I can assure you, he's our children's godfather, so Gwen and I can vouch for him." "Thank you Chris, thank you so much, yes I want, no I need to talk with him." "Okay, that's settled. Sarah, Gwen is going to take you to meet the other girls. They are great girls and I know they will be thrilled to have you with them."

Gwen and Sarah enter the suite of Renee, M, Mimi, Kathleen and Marlee. "Hi girls, I want you to meet Sarah, she's a friend of Steve's. No, she's not here to spy on you and she's not after any of the guys. As a matter of fact, she's not even a contestant, we just want her to be safe here. It is up to Sarah to tell you why she's here." All the girls welcomed her, eager to hear Sarah's story.

After telling all the girls about what happened how she met Steve, not a dry eye was in the room. All the girls hugged her. "You know Sarah, we're about the same size, I came with just too many clothes, come with me, let's see what you can wear." says M. "Me too, all the other girls chimed in, I've got jewelry, make-up, anything you may need, we have it all here and if we don't, I know some other girls who would be happy to share with you, after all we are all sisters in this world together, " smiles Mimi.

Sarah felt so welcome, tears falling once again. It was decided that she would be checked over by the resident doctor. It was determined Sarah had some nasty bruises, and a small laceration on the top of her head. She would heal nicely in time. For the first time since this ordeal, Sarah fell into bed later that night, at peace with dreams of a very nice guy with a funny accent.

Oh, Mackey! That TV better be fixed for Monday night! Ha! I’m loving your twist with Steve and Sarah, too! S&T

Faith and Emily were talking with their legs dangling in the pool. “In all honesty, Emily, I know Johnny is a nice guy. He’s just not what I’m looking for in a husband,” said Faith. “It’s great that we both like birds, but there are so many other things I like. I’m really interested in Bill. I was so disappointed I didn’t get to eat with him last night.” “Aww, Faith, Bill is a good looking guy and no one seems to be set on him. He’s one of those great men that can fly under the radar unnoticed. You need to make the most of that Barbeque tonight!” “Oh, I sure plan to. Will you do me a favor? When I make my move, would you keep Johnny busy?” asked Faith. “You’ve got it, sister! As for me, I’m not ready to choose any one guy yet. Let me see, I like Charlie, Mark, Will, Tory, Corey, Jesse and Sam!” Emily and Faith had a good laugh about that. But the truth was, after all, the Bachelorettes did have a say in this matter!

Bill and Will could almost be taken as brothers. They were similar heights, both around 5’11.” They both had auburn hair, although Bill’s was a shade deeper and Will’s hair was shorter and curlier. However, they looked so much alike that from the back, it was hard for the other Bachelors to be sure if it was Bill or Will. And the names didn’t help! What did help to make each face distinctive were Will’s dimples and freckles, which Bill did not have. The other major difference was Bill’s emerald green eyes. Bill took a walk down to the Men’s beach on Thursday afternoon to check it out. The sand felt warm to his feet as it shifted under the steps he took. He noticed how clean and pristine the beach was, except for a small mass of seaweed clumped over a spot on the sand. It was nice to see the Pacific Ocean looking so calm and peaceful, especially when he was feeling a little upset. When he reached the waterline, Bill subconsciously began to walk along the ocean’s edge, looking for seashells, while he pondered his situation.

With Will around, Bill just faded into the woodwork. Will had just a bit larger personality, just a bit more social skill, just a bit more distinguishing features that made him stand out, compared to Bill. Bill didn’t want to be a carbon copy or worse, a shadow, and he sure as heck didn’t want to be a Phantom like that Chris N. He knew he needed to step up to the plate and let people see who he really was. But how? He didn’t want to make a fool of himself. He just wanted to be acknowledged and liked for who he was. Last night at dinner, both Amy and Amelia had called him Will by mistake. They had apologized and he had laughed it off, but it made him realize what he was up against. But, it went further than that. Based on his first impressions on Monday night, Bill had really like Mehreen. He had put her down as one of the ladies he’d like to have a course with at the dinner last night, but instead of Mehreen, he got Mimi, and she wasn’t even on his list! What was he? As his grandma used to say, chopped liver? Now the Bachelor Villa Grapevine was buzzing with the news that Greg had asked Mehreen out on Friday night and she had accepted. Well, at least it wasn’t Will! Bill saw something in the sand and reached down to pick it up. A sandollar! It was actually a small, but perfect sandollar, with no nicks or cracks on its white surface. It was definitely a keeper! Bill turned to go back the way he had come, remembering that there would be a Barbeque tonight. He realized he’d just have to make the most of it!

When Bill returned to the Men’s Villa he noticed that an announcement had been posted on the Bulletin Board in the kitchen. It read: KARAOKE CONTEST TONIGHT AT BARBEQUE, SEE SAM TO BE PUT ON LIST OF PERFORMERS! A Karaoke Contest! All right! That was just what he needed to turn things around. “Hey, anyone know where Sam is?” he called out.

Hey, Everyone! I've been posting and then revising the spacing and type of each post so that they are more reader friendly and I think they look so much better, but it really slows down what I can post and takes a lot of time that I sometimes don't have. So for now, I'm just posting without revising (unless they're my posts) and hope you can read them OK. Enjoy, S&T

M had been in her room thinking
of the various conversations she had with Mark, Steve, Jackson and Ross about
Mr. Jacobi. 'They have to be out of their minds if they think for one second
that Mr. Jacobi is interested in me other than as his secretary, no way is this
man attracted to me, and no way am I attracted to him. Oh yea, he's
adorable, he’s handsome, and I love the way he walked and talked, the way he
moves excites me, but that's because I admire him and admire his ambition and
commitment to the company. His eyes are so piercing, but that's because
he thinks a lot, and I know when he looks at me in a questioning way, it's
because he has a question on his mind or he's wondering about a project he has
planned he wants to run it by me. Heck, he's my boss, he's not
interested in me, oh he cares for me, but only because I am a darn good
secretary; he's told me that many times, and I really enjoy it when he tells me
what a wonderful job I am doing. It's just nothing more to it.'
With that, M continues to think of her next children's story. This time
she will be writing about "Buzz-Buzz" the little bumble bee.
She's thinking he's at a baseball stadium and he has landed on the end of a
baseball bat, the batter is about to hit the ball.

Wonderful
story Mack!! You write whenever you want to sweetie-we're all sharing this
space ya know!! It's making for a very interesting story!! xo, Chipalooo

Amelia could not believe her luck.
After some rocky moments the night before, she finally clicked with Sam over
dessert. She did however end up having that third course twice due to a minor
mix up but it was dessert with Sam that sweetened her pot the most. Day
dreaming about him poolside, she swore she could even smell his cologne as if
he were right there before her. She smiled behind closed eyes remembering how
his crisp brown hair curled on the ends just a bit as things heated up between
them. Emitting a giggle and a wicked sigh, Amelia was startled as she opened
her eyes to the sight of Sam hushing her with a gesture. "What are you
DOING here," she mouthed silently. "It's ok-I bribed Jenarosa with a
cheeseburger if she would be my lookout for a second! Just remember last night
and our secret! Ok??" The earnest pleading captured Amelia's heart as she
giggled again and with a quick hug and a nod, Sam was gone-his scent lingering
in the air just long enough to send Amelia's thoughts to places she didn't know
existed. She sighed again but this time with the knowledge that things were
finally looking up and then some. Amelia arose and wound her way through the
maze that her heart was creating as she could not get the vision of Sam's sweet
smile and lively blue-grey eyes out of her head.

Michelle was reviewing her “dates” of the night before while she polished her nails for the Barbeque. Hmmm, Sam . . . appetizers with Sam had been fun. Sam knew how to have a good time. As far as bachelors went, he was probably up there for her, in her Top 3. Then, salad with Cliff . . . Cliff had surprised her. He was a lot smarter than he came across. She was impressed by his knowledge of the stock market. It turned out that Cliff was a firm believer in Apple and Coca Cola, two of her own favorite stocks. Ummmm, Joe . . . had looked very handsome. He had dressed up for the occasion in a tuxedo that was a bit dressy for the evening, but still looked very nice. Joe talked about his love of wine and displayed his expertise by thoughtfully ordering the perfect rose’ for her osso bucco. But the real surprise of the evening had been Johnny. Up until last night, Johnny had been that nerdy guy you laughed at in High School and hoped would help you with your term paper in College, but he could never be considered a “hot” date. Maybe it was that wine Joe had ordered, but by dessert time, Johnny took on a whole new meaning to her. It was like a kaleidoscope had turned and a whole new picture appeared. With his bowtie undone and hanging down over his white shirt, his jacket off and shirtsleeves pushed up, his crew-cut beginning to take on a spiky look as it grew longer, his glasses down low on his nose, so she could really see his amber-colored eyes, suddenly Johnny looked “hot!”

By mid-afternoon, Sam realized he
had so much more to do to get ready for the BBQ/Karaoke night at the clubhouse.
The tiki torches needed to be rounded up and carefully placed along the walkway
and on the beach. The karaoke machine was already on the way, but Sam wanted
some say in the music choices for the evening and so he had to call Chris back
to make sure that was a go. The BBQ menu would be primarily provided by the
Villas, but Jen and Penny had some culinary secrets up their sleeves. Sam had
to check with them before the menu items could be officially checked off that
proverbial list. And somewhere in the remaining time frame he had to check on
the refreshments and squeeze in a shower. Sometimes he wondered why he put
himself in the position of always being the organizer. But then he remembered
that he was A) a firstborn, and B) the son of a prominent doctor whose job it
was to make sure the Obstetrics ward at the hospital ran in perfect order. His
mother was one of a kind and he felt lucky that if he could only have one
parent in his life it was Andrea Barton, MD. "Ah, here's the list,"
he iterated in relief. He could feel the excitement welling up as he thought
about what this evening might mean in terms of getting to know Amelia. Would
she be up for the adventure? Hopefully Chris will come through and Sam would be
a happy man indeed...

After some guy-time on the
basketball court, Cliff's ego was feeling a bit bruised right now. Jackson was
SO good and he kept Cliff off his game the whole time. Cliff prided himself in
being a naturally gifted athlete and this humiliating event sent his body and
mind spiraling downward. After a dip in the pool to cool off he thirstily drank
the rest of the ice tea that Joe had thoughtfully left there for the guys to
enjoy. As he drifted off to sleep his mind kept coming back to the speed dates
from the previous evening. He was unsure if Amelia was on the same page as he
was but he knew Lindsey was. There was an unspoken agreement to explore a
relationship with her he felt. He didn't think any of the other women there
understood his laid back lifestyle and doubted they appreciated all he thought
he had to offer. But Lindsey was different-very different from any of the women
he had ever dated. If only Cliff realized how much his life was about to
change-he would be shocked...

When Jenarosa signed up for the
karaoke night she neglected to put down Penny's name as well. She wanted their
duet to be a surprise and so as they hemmed and hawed and hawed and hemmed over
what to wear they came to the conclusion that skinny black jeans with spaghetti
strap tops in red would be the ticket. Putting on the crop jackets over the
shirts completed their outfits-no jewelry except for the large gold hoop
earrings. When dressed as twins one couldn't tell them apart. Even their
families had difficulty in that area. Penny giggled at the prospect of their surprise
for the twins Corey and Troy. "Boy-I hope those guys aren't gonna hate us
in the morning! I wonder how they are liking the clothes Chris H. left in their
room," Penny added as an afterthought. "Well-too late now! I just
hope that we don't steal someone else's song because I don't want it to lose its
impact, haha," Jen laughed. "But ya gotta love the black leather,
right?" "Wow-I will have to lay off the chips for a while-these jeans
are TIGHT," Penny complained with a groan. With a swish of their hair and
a swivel of their hips they slipped out the door to practice for their vocal
debut...

After meeting and talking with Brian,
Sarah was relieved to know that matters were being handled by the local police
in her hometown of Plano, Texas.

Brian was able to get in touch with
an old friend in Plano, who agreed to investigate the charges and get back to
Brian. They agreed that it was best that Sarah remain in California until
the culprit was arrested and in jail. Records showed that this had happened
twice before with the Principal, whose name is Edgar, when he assaulted two
other women who he had relationships with and each time he was found innocent
because at the time, the Mayor was his Dad. That was not the case this
time; the deputy assured Brian that there would be an arrest for there
just so happened to be an eyewitness to Brian carrying Sarah from her
home. A local deputy would be in contact with Sarah in a few days to get
her statement, then using the dress she had on when Steve found her, trace
evidence would be found. Sarah had also been careful in scraping her
finger nails before she showered and had preserved the evidence in a plastic
bag and that was given to Brian for safe keeping.

With that taken care of, Sarah
agreed to go to the BBQ with the other girls, getting a loan of a bathing suit
from M, some shorts and top from Renee; Mimi helped get her all
dolled up, and they were ready to party! Sarah felt much, much better!

Meanwhile, two things were happening
with M. She got word that Jesse was back and was "desperate" to
see her! The other was a special delivery letter addressed to her from, OMGosh, a publishing company! Tearing it
open, she reads that they are very interested in publishing her children's
short stories, and the amount they were offering her was phenomenal, more
than enough to quit her job and began the career she always wanted, becoming an
author! Tears of joy filled her eyes.
Then she thought of Mr. Jacobi. 'Oh, no, how am I going to tell
him of this good news! He's not going to be happy about this, but I now
know that this is what I need to do, what I have always wanted to do, isn't
it?' Her heart is going in two different directions.

As the hour for the Barbeque drew near, the excitement became palpable. . . . Amelia was taking down the Karaoke sheet from the women’s bulletin board and was pleased to see that four bachelorettes besides herself had signed up, including Renee and Michelle. . . . Toni was helping Pamela with her make-up, showing her a trick with mascara that really enhanced her eyes. . . . M and Mimi were trying to convince Sarah that she should join them at the Barbeque. They didn’t want her sitting at the Villa by herself while they had fun. . . . Marty was talking to Carrie about, what else? Spin and Charlie! . . . Faith was making a last minute decision between a madras sundress and white capris and a blue caftan top. She made a quick decision to go with the pants outfit. . . . . Lindsey yelled out, “Do we need to bring bathing suits?” . . . A chorus of replies said, “YES!”

After conferring with Chris H., Sam
was satisfied that the evening would go on as planned. The songs for the night
were standard fare for karaoke and included a few 'special requests'. CHECK.
The tiki torches were in place and already lit. CHECK. The food was in the
process of being cooked and brought out to the tables that were 'already ready
already' and decked out. The theme was Hawaiian Luau Meets TexMex BBQ. The
blend of the two was actually Jen's idea and Sam loved it. The twins had
brought their homemade contributions by earlier and Sam found it difficult to
resist the scrumptious aroma that emanated from the baskets they handed him.
"YUMMAYUMMA," was his response. "Food-DOUBLE CHECK. Amelia
popped her head into the clubhouse to ask Sam if he needed any help.
"Thanks hon! Could you check the beverage tables to make sure it's all set
up?" "Of course," Amelia breathed brokenly with a hint of
nervousness. "Ok Sam, Hawaiian cocktails . . . Lemonade/Iced tea . . .
Kegerator . . . All here!"
"Perfect," Sam countered, then added "CHECK, CHECK, and
CHECK." "Oh, and PLENTY of water!" "Then we're all set! I
wonder if I have time for a dip in the pool? I think I just washed off my
shower hustling to finish this," Sam added with a chuckle. Amelia gave Sam
a hug and stayed in his arms for an extra moment to take in his warmth.
"No, you don't smell and in fact, I could just stand here forever,"
Amelia admitted with a blush. Just as Sam was about to lean in for a kiss the
guests began arriving for the BBQ and Sam was never so disappointed to have
missed out on that first kiss...

Chip and Mackey, great job! S&T

Faith, Emily, and Mehreen arrived at the Barbeque together and took in the surroundings. The Coronado Clubhouse was set on the ocean side of the Hotel Complex. The building was surrounded by a beach on the west, a pool on the inner complex side to the east, and a path that led to the golf course on the north, while on the South side, another path led to Coronado Village, an on-site area with a number of unique, boutique shops. The girls had approached from the south and paused for some window shopping at those lovely boutiques, knowing that it was definitely a place they wanted to visit soon for some real retail therapy. Now, they entered the Clubhouse through the French doors on the boutique side and looked around to see where everyone was gathering.

Bill had been looking for Mehreen and saw her come into the Clubhouse with Faith and Emily. He walked in from the pool area and purposely bumped into the trio, saying graciously, “You three look gorgeous tonight! Let me show you around!” He led the group around the room, indicating the doors that led out to the pool where a group of Bachelors and Bachelorettes were gathered and to the opposite side of the room that led to the beach, where another group was gathered. “This place is gorgeous!” said Faith. “Yes, Hotel del Coronado does everything first class!” Bill agreed. “I know that many of our guests at the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco stay here when they are in San Diego.” “Are you in Hotel Management?” asked Faith. “Yes, it’s kind of a family business for me.” “That sounds like interesting work,” said Mehreen. Bill turned to her and said, “Well, I actually grew up in a hotel.” “How did that happen?” she asked. Bill suggested, “Why don’t we go get a drink and I’ll tell you about it.” Mehreen nodded. They excused themselves from Faith and Emily. Then Bill led Mehreen to the bar. Faith frowned at Emily and shrugged her shoulders. Emily reminded her sensibly, “Hey, Mehreen has no idea you like Bill. Let them have a chat and you can find a way to talk to him later.”

Feeling a little lost at the party,
Cliff looked around the clubhouse for Lindsey. Before he could take a second
look, he ran into Jackson and congratulated him on his game. "No problem,
bro! I just love the game so much I get a little carried away!"
"Well, maybe you could show me some of your moves, so I can improve MY
game," Cliff suggested with a smile. "Sure, sure! I would enjoy that
very much! I am always up for some b'ball that's for sure man!" The guys
chose a time to fit in a quick pick up game the following day, and shook on it
to seal the deal. Unfortunately for Cliff, he spotted Lindsey talking with Joe
by the beverage table. Shoot, he told himself-she's probably making plans with
him tonight. But as Cliff watched, Lindsey strolled away with Amelia and they
found a seat near the karaoke stage and seemed to be deep in conversation with
their MaiTais!Smile Should he interrupt or should he wait for a bit he wondered.
They were soon joined by Sam and the three went over to the BBQ pit to watch
the pig on the spit making the final round before the being smothered in the
mesquite pineapple bbq sauce Jen had made from Nunna's recipe. Man-I have got
to talk to her-this is worse than the scavenger hunt the other day. I am losin'
ground here! By this time Sam called out to the group to get their plates and
help themselves to the delectable morsels that surrounded them. After a few
whoops and cheers Sam realized his mistake in wording. "I mean the food
you guys! Sheesh! This is a PG Rated dinner for Pete's sakes," Blushing
all the way to the fire pit, Sam took a sip of water and cleared his head...

Mehreen found that she really enjoyed her conversation with Bill and she could drown in his emerald green eyes! He seemed so relaxed tonight and so open. He told her about his childhood at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. His father William Hilton had been in charge of the fleet of New York Hilton Hotels from their penthouse at the Waldorf and Bill had been a male equivalent of Eloise at the Plaza of children’s storybook fame. As a young boy, he had been the darling of the service staff and had a ball in the service elevators, riding on the luggage racks, and taking chocolates from the maid’s carts. They laughed over his many escapades. “You should write a book,” Mehreen said. Bill also told her, “You know, I don’t know what happened last night. You were definitely on my list of Bachelorettes I wanted to know, but there must have been a glitch in that “speed date” schedule. I was really disappointed.” When dinner started, they made up for the “glitch” the night before by eating together. Bill wanted to know all about her and asked insightful questions, as he listened carefully to her story of coming to America as a young girl and what she loved about being a teacher.

Faith saw Greg repeatedly glancing over at Mehreen and Bill, who were obviously enjoying each other’s company as they ate, and carried her plate over to sit by him for dinner. “This is quite a spread,” she commented as she took a seat next to Greg. Greg turned his full attention to Faith, making a mental note that she looked lovely in her light blue caftan with her long blonde hair falling around her shoulders. “Yes, it is! I’ve worked up a good appetite today . . . playing basketball, swimming, and helping Sam get things set up. That man is a slave-driver, but I have to say, he sure knows how to run a party!” Faith laughed. Greg is nice! She thought. “Hey, when you were at Camp Wakiki did you have a luau every year for Closing Banquet like we did across the lake at Camp Mahata?” “Sure did! And we’d float those candles out on the lake after Closing Campfire.” “That’s right,” said Faith. “That was always such a sentimental moment. It meant another year of camp was over.”

Knowing that they had a date the next night, Carrie and Charlie thoroughly enjoyed the Luau. Carrie was dressed in a simple A-line dress with a magenta-on-magenta tropical print that was very suitable for the occasion. Charlie spontaneously picked a fuchsia hibiscus from the Hotel garden and stuck the stem behind her ear, so the flower decorated her hair to perfection. At that moment, a song started playing, an oldie-goldie, by the Beachboys. Do you wanna Dance? Charlie looked at Carrie and said, “How about it?” Carrie nodded and he took her hand and led her to an open area that would work as a dance floor. As they danced to the song, Charlie pulled Carrie close, and crooned the lyrics in her ear, Do you want to dance and hold my hand, Tell me baby I'm your lover man, Oh baby do you want to dance? The couple danced as one, with a few other couples taking the cue and joining them, while others just enjoyed watching. Greg teased Faith, “Hey are you still a Wallflower girl?” She laughed. “That depends. Are you still a Punchbowl guy?”

Toni entered the Clubhouse this
evening, expecting to have a fun time, but also very hopeful that this would be
the night when she could grab some time with Brian, to pick his brain a little
bit about a couple of stories she had been and would soon be, she hoped,
involved in.

There were several
interesting issues Toni could be pursuing at any given time, in her work
as an investigative reporter ~~ Lord knows, just look at the newspaper on any
given day ~~ but at this point, she was concentrating on just
two .... the story behind the Michale Callahan book Too
Politically Sensitive,
and currently-brewing cases of celebrity
extortion.

The story of the
Paris, Illinois murders and cover-up had held Toni's interest for
years ~ it hit close to home, in a way, and became the center
of attention for her and
her Northwestern University journalism classmates for a
long period of time, with a positive outcome for two particular inmates.

And, it was pure coincidence
that just before being chosen as one of the 25 bachelorettes for Bachelor
Survivor, Toni had been assigned a significant and compelling story by her
editor. It was a job that had to be put on hold due to her being absent
for a possible 8+ weeks to tape the show, but her editor had
expressed willingness and ability to allow that. After all, the extortion of
celebrities by wannabes, Gold-diggers, and fame mongers was an ongoing and
timely issue. The story could be written any time, and would still have a
strong journalistic impact.

So Toni arrived at the BBQ,
prepared for a pleasant, social evening of getting better acquainted with the
bachelors and the other bachelorettes, some music and perhaps some dancing, all
the while keeping her eyes peeled for Brian.

And an extra bonus? Brian
is terrifically handsome with the kind of looks that I like!

She was ready for a lasting love in
her life, and while she wasn't EXPECTING the sparks to fly, if they did, she
would welcome them, and would be open to the flare of romance.

Brian, meanwhile, was standing near
the pool, checking on M, "So, M., tell me how are things going?
I guess you know by now that Chris, Gwen and I are friends, and I was here
to help my friend with getting Lucy-Lyn for extortion. I'm not officially part of the show anymore,
although Chris insists that I hang around.
There's this lady, Toni, who wants to interview me. Of course, I wanted
to see you and let you know that I'm here for you, after all you and I have
become quite good friends, haven't we?" "Oh Brian, yes, I have
my buddy back, and thanks for sticking around. I could use your brotherly
advice now and then and an arm to squeeze from time to time too."
They laugh.

M proceeds to tell Brian about her
dinner "dates" with Jackson, Ross, Steve and Mark and what each of
them said about her boss. "You know M, I agree with those guys, I
think there's more to this than Jesse just needing you back at work. I
think not only does he need to have you by his side, but he wants you by his
side and the dumb guy just doesn't see it yet, and obviously you don't
either. I think you need to sit down and talk with him. I know he's
still around San Diego. Why don't you just ask him how he feels, what he
feels, then maybe you can stop guessing?" "I'll think about it
Brain, but I know him better than you all do, and I'll tell you right now his
only interest in me is to run a smooth office for him, nothing more."

They talked a little more, said
their goodbyes, hugged, and went their separate ways.
