Max led the group into a small gym and ran them through some serious warm-up exercises. Emily impressed all of the men with her stamina, strength, and flexibility. She could keep up with the best of them! When the warm-ups were done, Max pulled out a clipboard, “Most of you guys are in good shape. Jackson, I know you’re a big guy, but you need to bulk up a bit. So do you, Johnny.” Both men nodded. They had heard it before. “Here’s our schedule for the day. Volleyball, basketball, then we’ll take a lunch break, followed by hockey. You guys can skate, right? Then, Emily will take over. OK, guys, let’s get going!”

Max threw in a brief tour on the way to Volleyball. The guys played in two teams with Emily rotating in and out, alternating play with each team. For 5’2,” the girl was a wicked setter and a pretty good server as well. She left the spiking to the guys. In basketball, Emily continued switching teams and playing both sides. She loved it when she was on Jackson’s team because if she had the ball, he’s pick her up carry her to the basket and swish she’d dunk it! During the play, she got to know the guys better and saw who were the better sports (Troy and Corey among them) and who got hot under the collar (Ummm, Would you believe, Cliff?) They broke for lunch around 1:30 and ate in the facility’s fabulous cafeteria, Emily told the guys about her background. “Well, I started gymnastics when I was six and loved it right from the start. I’ve always been a pretty good all round gymnast, with balance being my real specialty. I’m weakest on the vault. When I was in Middle School, I was training for a possible slot on the U.S. Olympic team, but I tore my knee up and that was the end of that dream for me. Fortunately, it eventually healed and I was able to compete in college, but it was too late to even think about the Olympics. I had too much training time. Now, I love coaching other girls who have dreams like I once did and I am planning to bring a team here one day, like I said earlier this morning. I want to thank all of you for being with me today, because just being here has helped me envision that dream in a more concrete way.” When Emily finished her story, the men actually clapped.

Emily sat out for the hockey game. She enjoyed watching the men whiz around instead and talking with Max was a bonus. “I was impressed by your personal story, Emily. I hope your dreams come true.” “Thanks, Max! From you, that means a lot. How did you end up here by the way?” Max filled Emily in on his own past. “Well, I was always good in sports and grew up playing baseball, football, soccer, and basketball and could run like the wind. However, I just didn’t grow.” “Tell me about it,” chimed in Emily. "I finished High School at 5’7” and about 120 pounds. No college would take me seriously as an athlete, no matter how good I was. Then in college I had a late growth spurt and grew to my full height of 5’11” and filled out. My senior year I actually got to play basketball, but I had majored in Sports Training. I worked for several colleges and then was recruited to work here. I’ve been here for four years and I love my job. I love San Diego, as well.” Max’s story made Emily feel close to him. They had both had dreams that were squashed due to life circumstances, but had found a way to work around their problems and used their talents to live happy, productive lives. Max must have felt a similar connection, because he asked, “Emily, I know you’re here with all these guys, but would you go out to dinner with me tonight?” Emily smiled, nodded her head, and gave Max a spontaneous hug. “I’d love that!”

The guys couldn’t believe the next part of their date with Emily. She took them to a gym all set up with Gymnastics equipment. Emily gave them a half hour show, using all of the apparatus and finishing with a floor routine set to “Yankee Doodle Dandy.” Her routine won her a standing ovation. Emily might not be the #1 girl for these guys, but she had worked her way up to #2 for many of them! Then the guys groaned when they learned it was their turn to do gymnastics, but they actually were good sports about it. Some of the men had some talent. The trampoline was most popular. Of course, it wasn’t used for actual gymnastic routines, but was used for training, so there was one set up in the corner of the gym. Emily put the guys in groups, so they rotated around the apparatus and got a good chuckle over some of the things she saw . . . Jackson on the balance beam . . . too funny . . . Leo swinging around with one arm on the uneven parallel bars . . . who would have thunk? . . . Sam with a brilliant floor exercise of his own . . . he obviously had done ome gymnastics before . . . Will was a good tumbler! . . . Troy and Corey were good at everything . . . Go figure! . . .Hey, Greg and Brad were pretty good vaulters!

By 5:00, when they left the Center, everyone was tired from a full day of exercise. But, it had been a great day and the Bachelors were glad for the opportunity of a good workout and the thrill of being at the Olympic Training Center. Emily rode home on the bus, happy with the events of the day, and wondering what she should wear to dinner that night with Max.

With help from Faith and Mehreen, Emily dressed in a simple pink and white striped sundress and wore her hair fluffed around her shoulders in soft golden curls. Michelle had stepped in for Emily’s make-up and gave her a natural look that enhanced her lovely blue eyes. Emily borrowed a white sweater from Amelia, in case the restaurant or evening was chilly and she was “good to go!”

Max picked Emily up at 7, as planned, and they drove off in his small red convertible. Emily didn’t mind her hair being windblown at all. It felt delicious! “You haven’t been to Seaport Village, yet, have you Emily?” “No, I haven’t.” “Good, because that’s where we’re going!” The car sped off into the night.

Max took Emily to his favorite pizza place at the Harbor. It was called Assagio Pizza Pasta Plus. It was famous for its Chicago Deep Dish Style pizza. “This is a taste of home for me,” Max commented. “I grew up in the Chicago area.” “Oh, so, you’re a Mid-westerner, too! I’m from Toledo, Ohio.” “Cheers!” said Max, lifting his beer. “Umm, this is delicious!” Emily said, after swallowing her first bite of pizza. “It’s also just what I needed after my workout with all of those guys! I’m starved!” “So, tell me, are you interested in any of them?” Max asked with concern. Emily laughed. “Well, actually, I’m not! I mean, I am friends with everyone on Bachelor Survivor, girls and guys, alike, but I really haven’t made a romantic connection with any of the guys. They all seem to have found someone, except me! So, I figured I had this opportunity to take them out today and see if anything clicked with one of them and Nada! Zip!” Max smiled and ran his finger along the edge of Emily’s hair on one side of her face. “You know, I’m glad about that, don’t you?” “I hoped you’d be glad about that.” Emily replied, looking at the handsome face with the sincere blue eyes that crinkled around the edges when he smiled. “I’m more than glad. I’m delighted!” Max hoped it wasn’t too soon, but he couldn’t resist giving this beautiful girl a kiss. Emily smiled at Max, shyly. “That was nice,” she said. “Now, let’s eat!”

After dinner, Max gave Emily a short tour around Seaport Harbor. The district had many charming shops that were still open on Thursday night. They dropped in on several that looked the most interesting . . . American Nostalgia (think Route 66 and Lucy) . . . Indian Trails Gallery (Navajo, Zuni, and Hopi jewel and crafts) . . . Mistletoe (a Christmas shop) . . . The Little Viking (all things Scandinavian) . . . Wind Song (chimes, etc.) . . . and finished with . . . Best of San Diego . . . where Max insisted on buying Emily a beautiful snowglobe of the San Diego sky line. The couple picked up some ice cream at Ben & Jerry’s on the way to the car and drove home with hope in their hearts, each feeling that today was the first day of the rest of their lives.

When Emily went to bed that night, she drifted off to sleep with peace in her soul, thinking, I’ve found the man for me!

Awww, Mackey........Thanks! I
appreciate that so much!

:-)

On Thursday morning, 8 young
people, some already with stars and sparkles in their eyes for others in the
group, and some still at the hand-shaking stage, met in the lobby of the Hotel
del Coronado, to set out on their Ladies' Choice Date.

So you get the idea that the bachelorettes
really couldn't pick an over-the-moon romantic group date, but there also had
to be SOME opportunity for those already paired up to have alone time. The
bottom line was, all 4 of the girls had decided that today, they were going to
stick together, they would all have eachothers’ backs, and would be sensitive
to visible clues that one of them might be struggling or uncomfortable or
unhappy. They also had left the last part of the date very flexible, so that if
they as a group decided they didn't want to continue the date, they
could just very kindly and innocently tell the guys that was it, thank you
for the day, we hope you had a wonderful time, see ya!

Certainly, Rayne and Toni hoped the
date went until midnight .... or even later, mmmm..... ;-)

But this was also a first date, sort
of, for Bryanne and Will, and definitely for Pamela and Ross.

So, with Pam's ideas, Chris
Harrison's suggestions based on the pre-show interviews and surveys ABC had
done regarding contestants' interests, and much help from ABC, the ladies had
planned a date with a good variety of activities in it. Some were more for the
guys, some were kind of girlie, all would be fun and allow for some alone time,
IF the girls involved so choosed.

The guys had been told to be prepared
for water, sun, walking, music, plenty of food and drinks, and some sweet
treats. The group wasn't leaving the Del until about 12:30, so each group had a
late brunch in their own villas, with plenty of time to get ready to go.

Leo, Will, Ross and Brian had been
in the lobby for about 5 minutes when the bachelorettes arrived, looking fresh
and pretty and colorful, carrying water bottles and sunglasses and totes. They
were chatting and laughing, seeming nervously excited. The guys were tanned and
bunched up like a flock of guineas, Ross was nervously rubbing his hands
together, and looking toward the direction the girls would be coming from, Will
was all smiles and jokes, Brian looked like he could hardly wait to see Toni
again, and Leo was, well, Leo. He stood like a football player does in those
group photos, with his feet planted, his sturdy legs like tree trunks, not
moving his neck, just waiting.

The girls rounded a corner, and
Rayne cried, "LEO!!" running toward him! The tree trunk turned into a
surprise lily, waving in the breeze, smiling, picking her up and planting a
good solid "Oklahoma Hello" on her cute lips. Bryanne and Pamela
laughed and teased about Rayne's enthusiasm, Bryanne calling after her, "Now
don't hold anything back, Rayne!!"
Then she turned her eyes toward
Will, the one with the big smile on his face, and immediately she relaxed into
his gaze ~ she couldn't resist smiling when those dimples were smiling back!

As Bryanne turned toward Will,
Pamela looked at Ross, who was nervously & tentatively stepping forward to
meet her in stride. She took a deep breath, extended her hand, and quietly
said, "Thank you for coming."

Ross took her hand in both of his,
raised it to his lips for a kiss, and replied, "Pamela, you have no idea
..... um ... well ... you made my day yesterday!" he finally
blurted out! "And today ..." he was looking right into her deep brown
eyes, "I feel amazing, thanks to you ......... and... I cannot wait to
spend this day with you!"

ALL of Pammy's body and emotions and
defenses relaxed, she exhaled and smiled at Ross, and leaned in to give him
their first hug, which he accepted and returned, still holding her hand
clutched up between them, their two arms pressed between their two bodies,
the other arms around each other's waists.

Brian and Toni had dreamily glided
to one another in slow motion. Well, ...... not really, .......... but if you
were playing chick flick music, it would have been played that way! That
IS the way they both felt, still high on the blush of their first kisses and
tender words. They sweetly kissed, and let it linger just a second past
"hello" to "Well, hel-lo the-re, dont' we know a little
secret."

ALL of the other girls caught this!
They didn't know a thing and were caught totally by surprise! Toni had arrived
back at the villa long past the time the others had fallen asleep watching the
show, and when they asked her this morning about her dinner with Brian the
night before, she had simply said, "Oh, yeah ... well... We had a
nice time. The food was great. Chris and Gwen's suite is AH-MAZING!"

And with that she had changed the subject.

Now, as she pulled her lips away
from Brian's, all the girls were looking at her, jaws to the floor, smiling!
Bryanne winked at her and did a little hands-on-the-hips-snake-slither, Rayne
pinched Toni's side and said "You devil, you!", and Pam just
looked at her and said, "Well, HUH!!"

The guys were standing around
oblivious, as they didn't know WHAT was going on, except for Brian, who had
turned a light shade of pink and developed a tiny mischievous smile,
covering his lips' fresh coating of Toni's raspberry lip dew with
his fingertips.

"Oh, for heavens' sake, let
go!" Toni said, smiling and gathering everyone toward the door and into
the limo. Bryanne made sure she and Toni were the last two out the door, and
she leaned in toward her blushing friend, and said under her breath, "Did
he show you his handcuffs?"

Toni hit Bryanne lightly on the arm,
and they both dissolved into laughter as they climbed into the limo, settling
into their places beside Will and Brian. They were off.

The limo dropped the group at Silver
Strand State Beach ~ it had been cleared and cleaned for the sole use of the
Bachelor crew and participants today. There were cabanas and tents of various
sizes set upbeach, back away from the water in the shade of a row of palms and
eucalyptus trees.

There was a tent with abundant fresh
fruit & veggies, as well as water and any kind of tea, juice,
smoothie, or soft drink they might want, but all non-alcoholic, for good reason
on this day. The colorful cabanas were open beach-side, and
outfitted with towels, robes, cover-ups, blankets, caps, sunhats and glasses,
sunscreen and lounge chairs.

As they exited the limo, the group
was met by Chris, and 4 men & women in wet suits bearing the logo
"Coronado Surfing Academy." The girls all gathered around
Chris, and faced the men, while Chris welcomed them to their date ~

"Gentlemen, welcome to Silver
Strand State Beach, and to your Ladies' Choice date! The beach is all
yours for the next few hours. A little later, we will cater in a great
supper for you, and where you go from there is entirely up to you!"

He continued, "First up, is the
Surf Safari adventure, provided by the Coronado Surfing Academy right here on
the island. By the time this day is over, you will have a new appreciation for
the sport and the art of surfing!"

Everyone of the men was whooping and
pumping their fists in excitement and anticipation, Will and Brian, the big
serious FBI guy, were actually jumping around, giving each other high fives,
and the girls were visibly pleased that this seemed like a good date to the
guys. Pam exhaled a sigh of relief, and Chris gave her a little hug as if to
say, "See, terrific idea!! You did great!"

As a golf cart train came around a
bend in the beach, loaded up with boards and paddles and wet suits, Chris took

leave of the group, saying, "Here come your toys for the day, ladies and
gentlemen! Enjoy, good luck, and we'll see you later at the Del."

Everyone applauded, the girls and
guys joined each other once again, the men freely giving hugs and/or kisses to
the girls, and many comments could be heard, while the instructors set up shop:

"Greatest idea ever!...I've
always wanted to learn how to surf!..... Do we wear life jackets while we do
this? .... I can't even double water ski ~ will you find me when I fall? .....
I tried this once and couldn't wait to get back and try again! ... YaY for you
girls ~ this is amazing! .....Props to Pam ~ she came up with this one! ....
Will we look as good as she does when we put on our wet suits? ... Do we HAVE
to put those black suits on? .... I'll never squeeze my &*$ into that
skinny thing! ....... Are there sharks around here? ...... I'm gonna be the
next Kelly Slater, dudes! .... yeah, you mean Kelly respirator, man!
.... I can't wait, let's get going, let's rock those waves....Girlfriends, I
think we got this one right!"

STORYTIME: BACHELOR SURVIVOR - Page 13 Empty Re: STORYTIME: BACHELOR SURVIVOR

Post by SmartandTruthful Sun Apr 21, 2013 3:59 pm

The head instructor today was a
strong young man by the name of Maury. Maury was from Australia, and had been
all over the world pursuing this passion of his. He competed professionally,
but he always relished coming back to San Diego, where he now made his
home, to teach when he could, just because it was so much fun introducing
novices to the sport.

As he stood before the group, and
before they broke off into pairs for the actual hands-on part of the lesson,
Maury talked about surfing rules and manners. He was big on the
rules, and paying attention to the etiquette of surfing. One of the biggest was
don't surf alone! Another was to pay attention to where your board was ~ a
wayward board could turn into a danger.

He talked about taking care of your
equipment and of the beaches. Leave the sand looking better than it did when
you walked out on it. Maury quoted Kelly Slater, one of the very best in the
world, when he said, "I think when a surfer becomes a surfer, it's
almost like an obligation to be an environmentalist at the same time."

Maury warned that there is a lot to
learn in this sport, and a lot of tumbles to take, but said that surfing can be
addictive, just like any sport ~~ it's you and the ocean and nature and a
feeling of freedom ~ if you grow to love it, you'll be hooked!

"Now, it looks like you're
already paired up guy with girl, so let's learn some stuff, let's ride some
waves, and most of all, LET'S HAVE SOME FUN!"

He was pumped, and he got our 8
bachelors and bachelorettes excited, too! They were jumping up, jogging in
place, clapping, shouting encouragement, and laughing!

The surfing instructors took the
group through their training, starting with the basics of putting on the
wetsuit, and what kind to look for if you were going to get serious about the
sport, to paddling out, to how to a duck dive or turtle roll if you should need
to quickly get into or out of a wave. They talked about "reading the
waves" and knowing the tools of the art of surfing, primarily the board
and the wave.

For two hours, the lessons
continued, in the water and out, with reminders to stay hydrated and nourished
with snack breaks taken by all, including the instructors. Maury emphasized, if
they were going to become serious about surfing, the importance of maintaining healthy
habits, using common sense, and not surfing under the influence.

Everyone of the 8 paddled back and
forth numerous times, everyone of them fell ~ numerous times!! Everyone
caught at least one wave successfully and rode it in, to the cheers and applause
of the others. Everyone of them was able to get kind of good at one basic
maneuver, the cutback, angling across the face of the wave as you ride it.

Pamela, who had surfed before, came
in already knowing several turns, and Brian and Ross really picked up nicely on
some of the intermediate techniques. Leo had the hardest time of the guys, and
Bryanne the girls. But they ALL had a wonderful time, picked up some sun in
their cheeks, and were satisfyingly weary and hungry by the time the lesson was
over and supper had been brought it in.

Along with the Coronado Surfing
Academy staff, they got out of their wetsuits or rash vests, and entered the
large tent for a very welcome supper.

Part of the Surfing Academy's Surf
Safari package was a catered meal, and this afternoon was no exception. The
aroma coming from the main tent was enough to make you salivate, and this group
of new and master surfers was hungry and thirsty, and ready to dig in!

By 3:00 in the afternoon, places
were set around a large dining table, and as the group filtered in, the waiters
brought large platters and bowls and plates, ready for passing family style. On
the table were pitchers of Fish Tale Organic Amber Ale, sparkling water, and
Citrus Iced Tea.

Here came serving bowls of
Rosemary Ranch Kabobs layered over fried rice. Then there were platters of the
sweetest corn on the cob. An array of rolls and fresh-baked breads were passed
in baskets covered with warming linens. A great large bowl of fresh greens,
followed by bamboo bowls of Tangy Poppy-Seed Fruit Salad made their way around,
smelling so sweet and natural.

The chatter around the table was
non-stop, with many questions for the surfing pros, laughter at the rehashing
of stories about dives that had been taken today, and then of course the
questions from the pros about what it was like to be on this show, and about
the cameras following them all about.

An hour after they had begun their
meal, a look around the table told Maury that it was time for them to pack up,
and time for the Bach/ettes to head to the next part of their date. Boys and
girls were beginning to sit back and pat tummies, or yawn, or to stretch
their legs, the two established couples were leaning on one another, ready for
some alone time, and the pitchers of drinks were nearly emptied.

He rose, and made the transition for
the party:

"The small tent in the center
of the row of cabanas is a dessert tent, and will be set up for the
remainder of the beach date. The drink tent is still up and will
also remain for the time you are here. Please help yourself at any point along
the way."

"Gentlemen, each of the
ladies will give you guidance on what will happen from this point until the end
of your dates. I would advise you to use your time wisely and happily." As
he said this last sentence, he winked and nodded at the bachelors, then
laughing, said "As Rayne is already doing." She had moved to sit on
Leo's lap, and was nestling her head on his shoulder. Chuckles and giggles were
heard around the table, as well as jibes about "getting a room."

Maury and his instructors
headed out of the tent toward the beach, to the shouted thanks and applause
from this group of 8. He turned and gave an exaggerated bow,
then jogged to catch up with his staff.

Bryanne and Pamela excused themselves
from Will and Ross for a moment, and stepped outside the tent together, while
Toni took Brian by the hand and led him to the dessert tent, and Rayne led Leo
to one of the cabanas, telling Toni she'd meet her at the desserts in just a
sec.

Bry and Pam were deep in
conversation for all of the 30 seconds it took for each of them to tell
the other they were okay with separating from the group for the next hour. This
had been part of the plan among the 4 of them ~~ that Rayne and Toni would grab
their guys for some alone time, but that if either of the other
girls felt in the least uncomfortable or uneasy going it alone with Will or
Ross, they would stick together in one cabana for the time left on the beach.

Both were happy and looking
forward to going it solo with their dates.

Bryanne: "Are you sure,
Pam ~ I don't mind at all keeping the curtain raised between us if you
need it."

Pamela: "I'm dying
to get to know Ross better, Bry, but we'll stay with you two
if........."

Bryanne: "No, No! I'm having
such good chemistry with Will, I'd love the one-on-one."

Pamela: "Okay, we go it alone,
then right? I'm going to take Ross to get something sweet before we go
in."

Bryanne: "Me, too! Okay, deep
breath in, whooooooooo, long out, and relax."

Together, they went and gathered
Ross and Will and took them to get some dessert, some chocolates, and some
liquid refreshment. The bachelorettes had an hour before each would have to
make a decision about the rest of the date, if it was to continue for this
group of couples.

Toni and Brian had already left the
dessert tent and had claimed one of the cabanas, when Rayne turned on the CD
system in the water tent. Soon, music of many different genres would be
playing for the couples' quiet time. The system could play random picks and
could store several hours' worth of CDs. It would be like a non-stop serenade
of slow-paced, mostly soft music through the ages, from classical to country,
from the 40's to the new millenium. Rayne was excited and hopeful that the
system would work right, the way she and Chris Harrison had planned it and
programmed it. The music had been her idea, and Pam LOVED it, because of
course, she figured that Ross would.

Wow, Silver! You sure are making up for lost time! Ha! I think it took me a full hour to read up on your girls. Loved Toni’s dinner with Chris, Gwen, and Brian, and the surfing date – another great idea! Keep it coming! Lubs, S&T

Corey was beginning to feel that he
and Troy were being very selfish as they continued to hog the attention of Jen
and Penny. But frankly it also seemed as if it had been weeks since they had
even gotten a peek at the beautiful brunettes. "Do you think that they
will even remember us," Corey carped to his older brother Troy. And Troy,
who was older than Corey by exactly 5 minutes, did not disappoint in his
response. "I don't see how they could forget US, Corey. After all, we are
the Bodacious Brothers Bronson," Troy emphasized the bodacious part as
usual. Corey always laughed at that line. It was something about the way Troy
held his head as if he owned that statement. "Seriously brother-you are
the consummate dork!" Troy was about to tackle Corey right then and there
but the doorbell rang as that optimal moment arrived and then passed before he
could take advantage of it. Corey raced to the door and found a date card.
"Corey and Troy-Gentlemen: Ms. Jenarosa and Ms. Penina Mora request the
pleasure of your presence this evening. Please be ready to rumble promptly at
noon. Attire should be casual but please bring along something a bit more
formal as well. Here's to an enchanted evening!" Troy looked at Corey as
if he already knew what his twin was thinking. And in two seconds flat he had
the shower running as he prepared for the date of his life thus far...

After making sure the music system
was going to be alright, Rayne loaded up a plate of goodies for her and Leo,
and headed to their cabana. He had already taken the two lounge chairs and made
a "nest" out of them and the blankets and towels, so he and Rayne
could just settle in and snuggle.

Brian and Toni had folded the chairs
up and set them aside. They wanted to share the blanket in the sand, while they
talked and nibbled on soft chocolate chip cookies, the favorite cookie of both
of them, they discovered!

Pam and Bryanne took Ross and Will
over to the dessert tent, and then stepped back a few paces to the largest of
the cabanas, a double, with 2 heavy curtains rolled up in the middle, running
front to back. As the men watched, the ladies untied the 2 curtains, letting
them unroll, creating a heavy fabric wall between the two "rooms." As
the curtains came down, Will bent down, looking at Ross, and waved goodbye.

"Yeah, see ya much later,
I hope, Willy!" Ross jokingly threw at Will.

"At last, some time
alone," Will gently said when Bryanne turned back toward him. He led
her over to one of the lounge chairs and motioned for her to sit, while he
pulled a blanket over beside it, and he knelt there before her, tucked a stray
lock of her gorgeous brunette hair behind an ear, and as he did, she took his
face in her hands and kissed him quietly and with just the right hint of
desire.

On the other side of the curtain,
Pam and Ross pulled the 2 lounge chairs next to each other, but turned with the
foot of each to the head of the other so they could comfortably see each
others faces, with their drinks and sweets in between them, while they began
talking about so many things ~~ life in San Diego, Renee, this
experience on "The Bachelor," and wondering how did they miss each
other for the first 10 days here?

At the moment, the song playing was
Clay Aiken's version of "Bridge Over Troubled Water," Leo and Rayne
had already fallen asleep in their nest, in each other's arms, and Brian and
Toni were whispering about last night and wondering were Chris and Gwen
doing a little matchmaking?
And in between sentences, with their fingers
entwined and their toes curling against each other, they softly kissed in
the shade of the palm trees.

It was an amazingly beautiful day in
southern California, the blue of the sky was reflected in the waters of
the Pacific along the beach, and there were mini-wisps of clouds in the sky. It
was a comfortable 80 degrees, and the breeze off the water was pleasant and
inviting.

Ross told Pamela once again, after
he had explained about Renee, that her invitation to this date had shaken him
out of slump he'd been in since Monday. Even the guys had noticed, "and
we're not good at noticing stuff like that,"
he admitted, which
tickled Pam.

"I know I said it before, but
thank you, Pam." He reached his outstretched hand toward her, and she took
it, feeling tingles in her own fingertips. "I think I might have told
Chris I was done, if you hadn't asked me. You sorta .... saved me."

Pam smiled, and told Ross how much
fun and how confident he seemed to be at the pool party. "I especially
loved the pink feathery slippers you wore that day!" she joked. Ross shook
his head and they laughed together. He wiggled his toes when he laughed, she
saw, which brought another smile to her face.

Ross was a little fidgety, as was
his nature all the time, and Pam noticed this. Being a kindergarten teacher,
she noticed "fidgety" very easily, and she had long ago figured out
ways to redirect attention.

She wasn't at all sleepy or settled,
so she offered to take him back down to the beach and give him a little lesson
in San Diego's geography ~~ "Since you might want to live here
someday."

"A walk along the water? I'd
LOVE that," Ross said.

They grabbed caps and sunglasses,
and began to walk to the water's edge. Ross took Pam's hand as they went, and
drawing her a few inches closer to his side, turned to her and said, "You
know, I might have even MORE of a reason to want to live here now."

Pam's heart was beginning to soar at
the thought of this hottie, with the long brown hair pulled into a ponytail and
the sunburnt cheeks, who could sing like Tony Bennett and surf like the
dickens, being here with her now ......... and maybe into the future.

At this moment, Elvis Presley was
singing "Love Me Tender" in the background, Leo and Rayne were
napping peacefully, Brian and Toni had quit talking, period, and were wrapped
in each other's arms.

Bryanne and Will had looked into
each other's eyes intently after that first kiss, with surprise and wonder, and
Bryanne whispered, "What took you so long?"

"I guess I'm just a blind
fool," Will replied with his ever-so~slight touch of a southern accent.
"What took YOU so long?"

"Hmphmm...." Bryanne had
to cover her mouth with her hand, and Will added his, so gently and
touchingly, to stifle a laugh that might have spoiled the mood for another
couple. She threw her arms around his neck and buried her face in his tanned,
freckled, and ocean-scented neck. "Gud, u mell goo," her muffled
voice said then, and he whispered, 'You smell mighty good, too."

"Trade places with me, will
you?" she asked, which Will did, wondering.

Bryanne stepped away from the
chaise, to her tote bag, and drew out some homemade oil, showing Will.
She then knelt, and asked if he would like a massage? "It's what I
love to do, remember?"

Will looked at her with the softest
look in his eyes and in the smile of his lips, and said, "I do.
I asked you that the very first night .. 'What do you love to do?'
"

The softness in his eyes then turned
into a mischievous twinkle, and his dimples began to show, when he said,
"I'd be a blind fool to turn down the offer to have your pretty hands all
over me, now wouldn't I?"

And so, at this moment, with Israel
K's version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow / What a Wonderful
World" playing, Will closed his eyes and accepted a soft gentle massage
from Bryanne's strong, supple, skilled hands, whose fingertips could
"sense" the tight edges of his muscles and could relax them
away. And from time to time, she would tempt him with a gentle kiss in a tight
spot, as well.

It was finally too intoxicating for
him ~~ the music, her hands on his body, the fragrance of the massage
oil, the relaxation of tensions within his muscles, her body being so close to
his, those kisses! He opened his eyes to her own green eyes admiring his
face, and he pulled her over onto him, embracing her with a passionate kiss
that didn't end for several moments.

Brian and Toni by now had fallen
into a spooning nap, and Pam and Ross were talking and joking and laughingly
playing with the waves that rolled onto and back off the beach. Ross had been
pushed into a good-sized oncoming wave by Pam, and he in turn had picked her up
and carried her into the surf, and both had been knocked onto their tushes by the
water. Both were soaked, and loving it!

It was nearing 5 PM.

Ross and Pamela had just returned
hand-in-hand from their beach walk and soaking; they were smiling, and the
happiest they had been since their arrival for the show.

Bryanne and Will never did sleep,
but were comfortably sharing just the one lounge chair, talking and kissing,
caressing and telling stories, learning new things about one another.

Leo and Rayne were still
sleeping, and Brian and Toni had been awakened by a bird in the tree above
them. She seemed to be disturbed that they were there, and told them so, waking
them up. They finally appeased her by throwing bits of banana nut muffin into
the sand in front of their cabana, and before too long, there was a small flock
of unrelated birds, of all different shapes and colors, entertaining them with
their birdie antics.

The men were surprised to suddenly
hear Chris Harrison's voice coming from the speakers that just moments before
were playing soothing, romantic music.

The ladies were expecting this
wake-up call, quite literally for Rayne & Leo, but Chris' voice now coming
out of nowhere was, nevertheless, a little creepy!

"Gentlemen, good evening! I
hope by now you have had some fun in the sun, a nice meal, and some quality
time with your date today."

The ladies looked expectantly,
hopefully, or sleepily at their guys, and to a man, the boys nodded or
hugged or kissed their partner to indicate YES!

Chris' voice continued: "The
limo is on its way to return you to the villa, but before it arrives, the women
have a question to ask each of you, and then they will need to talk among
themselves. You will all then gather your things and get ready to meet the car.
Ladies, I trust that you will inform the gentlemen of the next steps while you
travel back to the villa. I'll bid you good night for now, and will see all of
you at the Challenge tomorrow. Make sure you rest up tonight! Ladies, you're
on!"

In every cabana, the same basic
question was being asked ~~ "Have you enjoyed this date enough to keep it
going and spend more time with our group tonight?" ~~ "Do you
want to do something else, and keep our group date going?" ~~ "How do
you feel about extending our time together?" ~~ "I would LOVE it if
we could keep hanging out tonight. What do YOU think?"

And every answer was the same,
basically: "I'd be a blind fool ,,,etc, etc." ~~~ "YES! Yeah, of
course" ~~ "What are you talkin', tonight, I'd like to spend forever
with you!" (We'll get back to THAT ONE another time)"
~~ "Oh, Amen! I was hoping this wasn't the end of this date!"

The girls all went zipping out of
their cabanas to meet in the sand far enough so as not to be heard. All that
the guys could see as they themselves began to meet up in front of the dessert
tent, was excited expressions, and the girls holding each other's hands,
nodding heads, and laughing smiles. One of the girls said something a little
more lengthy than the others, and in response, all of the girls drew in a
breath of surprise and hugged her all over.

The limo was pulling up, so the
bachelorettes ran back up the beach telling the guys to grab things, and they
all got into the car.

Enroute, Pamela told the guys that
there were two more stops on this date tonight, but first they were going back
to the villa to shower and change, into something semi-casual. They should all
meet back in the lobby again at 6:30.

~~ last installment coming up, I
promise! ~~

All of the bach/ettes looked fresh,
sun-blushed, colorful and happy this evening, and in the limo ride, they all
buzzed about the day, kidded Leo and Rayne about taking a snooze for the whole
hour, and the guys asked repeatedly where they were going. The girls intended
to keep it a surprise for as long as possible.

The limo dropped them at a back
entrance to the Fleet Center, and they were whisked straight into the already
darkened theater, shown to their seats by ushers with flashlights. Within
moments, a wave of music building to a crash of cymbals and tympany
surrounded them all, and the enormous wrap-around screen became lit
up ~~ and a deep resounding voice announced:

"Welcome! to the Reuben H.
Fleet Science Center's IMAX theater!"

The men were already impressed
by the sound and resonance and acoustics.

"Get ready for the RIDE OF
YOUR LIFE as you experience the IMAX production of ~~~ ULTIMATE WAVE
TAHITI !!!!!!!!!!!!"

The screen became alive with the
crashing of waves and the rolling of tides, and from somewhere in the darkened
theater came shouts and whistles of appreciation. Our 8 bach/ettes then joined
in with the chorus of cheering, as the documentary began.

It was truly an exhilarating
IMAX production ~~ 45 minutes of rocking and rolling on the crests of enormous
waves all across the globe ~~ a documentary about a man on a mission of an
unusual sort ~~ 9-time world surfing champion Kelly Slater's quest to
find the perfect wave-riding experience.

The show was a perfect follow-up to
the surfing date they had earlier, and each and every one of our singles was
thrilling to the production, which was high-energy, rock your very seat,
surround sound dynamic effect, making you feel like you were right there riding
the wave with Kelly and his fellow-surfers! You couldn't help but feel your
adrenaline pumping, as in one scene, an enormous wave was heading directly
toward the theater interior, and Kelly angled in from the left, and zoom
>>>> straight in front of you, was consumed within the wave!

After 45 minutes, the screen went
dark, every person in the theater was shouting and clapping, the lights came
up, and there in the front was Maury and his staff from Coronado Surfing
Academy ... they'd been leading the shouts and the hurrah's from
the front.

Hugs and more handshakes were given,
along with further thanks for the surfing lesson date. On their way out of the
theater, everyone was talking about the production, and asking Maury questions
about Kelly Slater, a pretty good friend of his. It was a dynamite show, and a
fitting end to our cast's day away from the Del.

They were headed back, and the guys
were getting mushy and all romantic about having to tell the girls goodbye for
the night, when Toni reminded them that there was one more stop. Was anyone
hungry? she wanted to know.

"Yes" came from
every seat in the limo, even from the girls, who knew what was coming. They
hadn't eaten since 4:00, and it was late. This was going to be a late-evening
continental supper, good old American style ~~ pizza and drinks ~~ in the
Sunset Bar around the Fire Pits, at the Hotel.

They landed there, and
found different varieties of just baked pizza, just for them, from
the cook staff of the hotel. The Bar was amazing, with open air fire pits
providing warmth and coziness in a very hip environment. They ate with relish,
they snuggled, they danced, the guys toasted the girls, and the girls did a karaoke
rendition of The Beachboys' "Surfin' Safari" for the guys.

Before long, it was late, and Toni
and Pamela began moving everyone to say their farewells.

"Tomorrow is the Sandcastle
Challenge, and of everybody here, we ought to rock it after today. But we've
got to get some sleep!!"

Grumbling and making mild protest,
the guys of course said they could do it on NO SLEEP, if they had to!

Toni and Brian led the way to the
lobby where they would part, with a sweet goodnight kiss. Leo lifted Rayne into
his big lion arms, and gave her one last long smooch, before scooting her along
down the hall. Bryanne told Will he was no blind fool, he was a sweet surprise
to her, and she felt so peaceful tonight because of him. They shared a long,
romantic kiss before saying their goodnights.

Pamela and Ross had lingered at one
of the fire pits just a few moments after the others had left...it was warm,
they had just gotten cozy, and didn't want to part. After Bryanne and Will had
gone around a corner, Ross turned his body toward Pam, said "I thank you
from my heart, for this date, and for giving me the honor." He put his
hand over his heart, and then Pam took his, and placed it over hers, almost
whispering, "My heart thanks you for saying yes."

They came together for their first
kiss, the one they would remember for a lifetime, held it for just the right
warm, soft moments, and then Ross walked Pam as far as he could go toward the
south villa, and said good night.

On Friday morning, a bus picked up the Bachelors and Bachelorettes and took them to Imperial Beach in San Diego for their next Challenge. The Bachelors and Bachelorettes had no idea what to expect, but they had dressed in bathing suits, covered with shorts and t-shirts, as they had been told. Chris Harrison was waiting for them at a pavilion near the parking lot.

“Good Morning!” said Chris. “I hope everyone is ready for the next Challenge! We are at Imperial Beach, site of the U.S. Open Sandcastle Competition. As we go down to the beach, you will see the results of the most recent competition. Look them over and let them be an inspiration for you. Today’s competition is fairly simple. You will be split up into teams to build a sandcastle at least 4feet high at the top and 4 feet wide at the base. You can design any kind of a sandcastle you like and make it plain or fancy. The winner will be
determined by three things: 1) Design, 2) Creativity, and 3) Time. A panel of judges will use these criteria to decide the winning team. Each team should choose a captain to be their leader and will have two hours to complete their sandcastle. If a team feels that they are done before the end of the time limit, they can call “time,” and gain points for their overall score by getting done early. Does everyone understand the rules?” A chorus of nods and verbal remarks confirmed they did. “I told you that the prize would be something you would all like to have. Each member of the winning team will receive $5,000 in cash. The second place team will receive $1,000 each.” The Bachelors and Bachelorettes were stoked to hear that! “OK, let’s go down to the beach. On the way, take a good look at the model sandcastles. When we get to the competition site, you will be given team assignments. All the supplies you need to build your castles will be available there.”

To Be Continued . . .
