Yes it was better than last week, and I think Bonner will continue to improve.  I just wish the dances were longer.  It always happens at the beginning of the season when the dances are so short and you want to see more.

You know that's because there were 12 couples.

I thought it suited him much better, as Sharna said during the week. She anticipated what Peta was told by the judges: simplify it as much as necessary; then present it with maximum effect.
Did anyone notice Tom's comment about 'best chemistry hands down'?

LOL!  I also noticed that Tom could be Neil Gorsuch's twin.

Oh dear, that would give Tom the heebie-jeebies! Tom is quite open about his opposition to the present administration.

Yes you are right on that.  The show wants to ease the teams into the process and not stress out the stars too much with a lengthy dance.  It would take up a chunk of time for all 12 couples to perform longer dances.  It's just that sometimes when you see promising dances during the early weeks, you can't help but wish they were a bit longer.

I don't think it has anything to do with protecting the celebs. The preparation time for the first show is approx. three weeks. A two minute routine should be possible. For example, watch the week one Cha Cha of Erin and Maks from season ten. That routine is more complex than what most couples do in week six nowadays. I think it's related solely to the jam-packed schedule of the one-night/ two hour format. Strictly doesn't have these limitations. They request full routines from the get-go; yet no one ever looked completely overtaxed.

You would think a 2 minute routine is possible.  I don't necessarily want 2 shows a week, because the second show usually has so much filler.  The amount of couples and now they have 4 judges has got to have something to do with it, plus they like to tell us a lot about the couples.

I don't think the packages need be so long and draggy. Plus the judges talk way too much, eating up time. Of course there are ways to free up more time for dancing but the producers don't want to do it.

I also wonder if it has anything to do with injuries.  Ironically it is Maks with the first major injury this season.  We have seen injuries happen before--some serious, some downplayed, and some we didn't hear about until much later.  Maybe the show hopes that by starting with shorter dances injuries will be kept to a minimum.

Bonner and Sharna get the Charleston next week to Fergie's A Little Party Never Hurt Nobody.  I hope this will be a breakthrough dance for them.

I'm a bit worried the Charleston comes too early for Bonner, but Sharna will find a way to make him look good. He's not the guy for a sudden breakthrough; more the slow and steady learner. At least, not the type of dance for showmance. Having said that, let this sink in everybody:

Apparently Sharna has never created a Charleston on the show before so this will new to her too, plus she does have to take Bonner's injury into account as well.  I'm not looking for a huge breakthrough but wanting to see Bonner break out of his shell a bit more.  With an upbeat dance like the Charleston, I'd like to see him be a happy young man dancing with flapper Sharna.

That is a difficult one, the judges always seem to want something different out of it...I don't remember seeing Sharna choreograph a Charleston before.

I'm not worried about Sharna. Choreographing it is no challenge for her. You can use elements of Quickstep, Lindy, Boogie, and so on. It will be more taxing for Bonner to bring the exuberant and cartoonish character- and the lifts.

I wanted it to be fun and it was, if a little low energy. Oh and Sharna looks out of this world. Bonner's injury limitations definitely impacted this performance. However, I don't think scoring them the same as Mr. T was right.
