I wonder if Tamar is experiencing the Nastia Liukin fan reaction. Although Tamar, like Nastia, is a wonderful dancer her personality and demeanour are turning people off. To be a winner on DWTS you need to connect with the fans and most, while acknowledging her talent don't have an affinity with her. I think Val knows this too but there is not much he can do about it.

I think what you have said is exactly what is happening and I really do feel sorry for Val and you are right there is nothing he can do about it. She clearly does not want his input.Lesallee wrote:I wonder if Tamar is experiencing the Nastia Liukin fan reaction. From what they have shown us in the packages, she seems to fight him all along the way.

I agree about the costuming. Some of it was not good.
On Tamar, although I am not familiar with her, several people who do watch her show say that's just her sense of humor and that it doesn't go over well with everyone. They believe it's meant to be light-hearted teasing, funny bickering, their 'shtick' if you will. The problem is the same with anything that goes on too long - at some point, you want them to stop. It needs to not be every week.

I can see where you both are coming from, but Tamar denying her true self wouldn't make sense either. What separates her from Nastia is her sense of humor; however weird it may come across.SLA44 wrote:I think what you have said is exactly what is happening and I really do feel sorry for Val and you are right there is nothing he can do about it. Just wanted to add a couple of things regarding the show in general. Opening number: are they hot or what? But why (again) Allison front and center? That should have been Karina's spot!!
It's official: Erin and Miss Piggy are twins.
If they really think they can't do without guest judges or are looking for someone to replace Len, they could just ask Alfonso to come back. You could tell he really watched all of them closely and knew exactly what he was talking about.

The problem, DMD, is that her confrontation and defiance don't come across (to me, at least) as a sense of humor. I've never seen her prior to DWTS and I don't like what I see now. She's one of the better dancers, but I can't get behind her. After watching her in rehearsal, I have a negative view of Tamar before the music starts.

To get a perspective on Tamar you need to watch her show "Tamar and Vince" and the show about the family in general. She comes across as a diva. If anyone is interested, here is a link to the web page about her show: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Being a European, I may have a different perspective. What we have in common is we never saw anything of Tamar before. I didn't even know Toni Braxton had a sister; let alone they did some show or soap on TV. What you call defiance appears just as an emancipated woman to me. I don't give a damn what these "highly produced" packages do imply, but only rely on my own power of judgement. That is why e.g. I have always been a fan of Maks and love women like Erin Andrews and Leah Remini. Irony, sarcasm, and mockery do resonate with me; whereas a faked "I love you all, please vote for me" attitude would indeed rub me the wrong way. I also believe there's more to her. Look at her face during the judges' comments. She does listen to advice, she is happy when she's praised, she wants to do better. Many contestants have seen this show as an opportunity to work on their public image. Tamar deserves a chance as well.singlyme wrote:The problem, DMD, is that her confrontation and defiance don't come across (to me, at least) as a sense of humor. You are right, LM, it does need to be every week. This past Monday night, it was ridiculous.
