If that is true, it seems kind of off to me. Unless she was perceived to have worked harder. Could they have chosen her so that Sasha would get a chance at the MBT? It seems like it might be his turn to win.

Isn't that kind of what this show is supposed to be about? Not who is necessarily the best dancer, but who is improving the most over the season? She is going to improve more over James because she wasn't as good a dancer. I don't get how Lauren won over him.

One of the things that really bothers me about Lauren is that whenever she smiles, her eyes looking like they're crying. They go down. It looks so submissive. If you're going to smile, then smile. That's my rant.

I don't know, Glitter... Improvement is certainly something that people get congratulated for, but I can think of many winners who came into the show already being good dancers-they just had to wow the judges with incrementally better dancing and win the hearts of the audience. I never thought that improvement per se was the over-riding factor. It never was for me, though, so maybe I just psychologically dismissed it as very relevant. I thought wow factor was weighted more, which was more, I think, about choreography. But I could be wrong, and the judges have never been consistent anyway.

I'm not saying that's how the winners ultimately get picked. There are other factors. But I'm saying that's how I thought the show was supposed to work, but it obviously does not. I thought initially it was supposed to be who improves the most over the season, that that's what they admired most. I thought I kept hearing that in the beginning when this show first began many seasons ago.

Things have changed a lot since this show once began. First and foremost: it has become so much more difficult for good dancers to win. I'm so sorry for Emma, but I think James has suffered from the Heather-Morris-Syndrome. Be to good from the start, and you might get the boot. Not saying the best dancer never wins anymore (Jordan Fisher comes to mind), but that takes a lot more; i.e. a highly creative pro, sizzling chemistry, and a personality that wins a majority of viewers over.

Ally may or may not be the judges' pick- they have done about all they can for her by now. In the finale, the decision isn't theirs, and Ally isn't getting the votes apparently.

For me, Kel or Hannah winning would be kind of reconciliation . But what the heck: anything is better than Spicer in the finals.
However, when I take a look back and think of the epic numbers Derek and Mark have created, the insane chemistry of couples like Meryl and Maks, or the exiting battles between Nick Carter and Bindi Irwin or James Hinchcliffe and Laurie Hernandez, the current season lacks a lot of the things that once made me a fan of this show.

Sorry abc, but my winner this year is Strictly Come Dancing, followed by Let's Dance (the German version). DWTS appears strangely anemic and needs another transfusion.

I agree, DMD. This season is very weird. The dancers are better than ever, but the show has lacked excitement of the fun kind (it only has had the annoying kind) and the choreography has not even wowed me.
This is not going to be a memorable season. Next season they should invite someone like Harry Styles to compete.

I think the reason the choreography seems lacking is the new rules about sticking to ballroom dancing instead of all the cute theatrics they have done the past few seasons. I felt like it was becoming more like a Broadway show than technique. All that extra stuff makes it more of a competition of the choreographers and being creative than the stars learning technique.

I think the Russians have interfered with the voting this season. It makes no sense that stars who do well go home while those who don't do as well stay. James should definitely still be there.

I can't bring myself to blame Russians for James falling into the bottom two. His scores this week were not good, Len penalized him for cha cha theatrics, and I would guess that voters didn't think he needed votes. I sure as heck didn't vote this week at all and he was my favorite. But all three judges choosing Ally instead of him definitely did him in.

But I agree that the emphasis on technique this season more than likely affected the creativity of the choreography. Folks were penalized for doing creative things this season.

I don't think there are any rules for Contemporary or Jazz, but Len seems to expect "recognizable" Charleston steps for Charleston dances. But it probably depends on his mood at the time.

Well, not only is the only dancer that I liked gone (happened many times before), but I really disagreed with the scoring for the first round of finals. I'd have scored the jive 8, the foxtrot 9, and the jazz (or contemporary, I don't get either one) 7.

None looked as good as several did earlier this season.
