Aren't they usually on some show the next morning and Jimmy Kimmel later that night which I guess is during the day?

Most of the booted teams seem to pop up the next day on GMA, so I guess they do jump on a plane. I don't think they show up on Jimmy Kimmel any more. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Glancing through the Jimmy Kimmel YouTube channel, so far I'm not seeing any video clips of visits from any of the recently eliminated teams. Kimmel still does his prediction of the season's winner, and he may do an occasional DWTS related thing, but it seems like he no longer has a mandatory visit from the eliminated team.

Thanks for answering, Sue and Glitter. I think they stopped going to Jimmy Kimmel some time ago. The logistics of doing both the Kimmel show and GMA were near impossible... if there was a chance that you were getting eliminated, you had to come to the show with a bag already packed for New York because there was no time to spare. But I wasn't sure about GMA. Sometimes I have seen eliminated couples in New York the next day and at other times they simply showed up via remote video.

But if they do go, that would work out really well for Derek, unless Marilu does the impossible and manages to be one of the top four. That would stink, because that is Thanksgiving week, and Mark will be back in LA that week, for the holiday, but also, I think, for his bachelor party and his wedding, both of which Derek is an integral part.

For Marilu's peace of mind, it would be best if she at least managed to come in sixth place (that is, stay one more week), though; then she would not feel like she was the worst partner he has ever had -- he did have one that came in sixth place... so she would at least have company.

More than a year ago I think, Glitters... Derek was on about 8 months ago to promote his Disney anniversary gig, I think, and Kimmel always bets on the winner at the beginning of every season, but I think it is really difficult for the eliminated couples to get there.

I thought they were in the same studio since they are both on the same channel. I thought they just walk over to Jimmy Kimmel's.

I think it is the time element, Glitters. They have to get on a plane and fly across the country, losing three hours along the way, plus the flying time, plus all the security time.... and be there fresh and ready at 7 am ET. It all adds up, I guess.

Who has missed it?

Yeah, I know. I was just thinking, though, that if no one actually missed having the eliminated couples on the show, then that would be another reason why the time commitment was not worth it to them.

I'm wondering if it's a reflection on DWTS. Anyway, maybe it was interesting at first to have them on Jimmy Kimmel and then it waned.

I think the folks who really enjoy DWTS might go to sleep before Jimmy Kimmel comes on.

And I never enjoyed seeing those dancing shoes get ruined! Smile

I did find a video of Season 15 which was the All Star season. Looks like a double elimination because both Maks and Kirstie and Giles and Peta were there to talk to Jimmy. You get to see two pairs of dancing shoes get destroyed Smile

Judging from some other old videos of DWTS celebrities leaving the show through the side exit, it looks like it was in the evening, so that meant that after appearing on GMA in the morning they would have had to wait for most of the day before appearing on Kimmel. I can see where that could be an inconvenience.

You're right, it is. That would mean after jumping on a plane to do GMA in New York, they would then have to jump back on the plane to be back in time for Jimmy Kimmel in Los Angeles.

According to Wikipedia, Kimmel tapes his shows at 7:30pm PST, so it would then become an overnight trip to go to New York for GMA. Anyway, I think Psychee had a point that the viewers who watch DWTS don't necessarily stay up for Kimmel. I usually don't myself, and I agree that it was no fun to see them destroy dancing shoes--that was typical Kimmel humor. It's probably better for the eliminated team to have just one official appearance in the more cheerful atmosphere of GMA.

Show would end at 7 pm. PT.

After show interviews -- another 1/2 hour?

According to Wikipedia, Kimmel started taping at 7:30 pm PT, and did it last an hour?

So at 8:30 or so, they would start making their way to the airport...

They would board the ABC plane -- and maybe take-off at 10 pm PT.

It is a six hour flight. Plus you have to add 3 hours for the time zone change.

That gets them in at 7 am ET. GMA STARTS at 7am. And it takes a good hour to get from the airport to the GMA studio. That makes them an hour late.

So, you start cutting off some of the time I built in there above, and it cuts it real real close.

Not worth doing Kimmel, I think... !

That is crazy. I was sure they did Kimmel first. I thought it was a 5 hour trip, but that's only one hour anyway. I stay up late myself, but I think it depends on people's schedules and when they have to be at work or if they have to be, etc.

I just realized something. The dancers are usually on Jimmy Kimmel the same night they are taken off DWTS. So they couldn't be on Jimmy Kimmel the next day.

It just occurred to me that the eliminated couples may have stopped appearing on Jimmy Kimmel when DWTS stopped having Tuesday eliminations. Maybe the dancers were OK guests for Tuesday night shows but not Monday night shows when Kimmel normally draws in his weekly audience with big name celebrities.
