Um . . .well . . . thanks, I guess . . . but I already had the start lists for both nights and of course knew the broadcast schedule. I will either watch the NBC broadcast or just live stream on the internet. I will also be monitoring live scoring and following various gym forums etc etc all the while talking to former gymnastics team mates on a private forum.Feces.Hurling.Monkey wrote:

So here's another thing I'm gonna do for you; here's this weekends Women's schedule (since I had to remind you the trials are this weekend). Notice it's only on NBC on Friday and Sunday (no Sat events).......It just seems like I do all the giving in this CyberRelationship....

The team will be selected and announced very shortly after the conclusion of trials Sunday night. So you need to gear up for potential hurling at that point. Gee what has happened to Gabby Douglas? She was such a dynamo last Olympics.

I wondered the same thing. They mentioned that her preferred coach had to sit in the stands because only one was allowed on the floor with her and she needed someone who could spot her. She didn't look happy throughout the course of events and we didn't see the smile and confidence she's previously displayed.
It's likely I'll stick with watching just the swimming and gymnastics. Love them both.

Gabby fired Kittia. (Gabby has a long history of firing her coaches or otherwise having a fallout with them. After her post 2012 time off it was Chow who fired gabby -- not the other way around. ) There was apparently some kind of falling out. But the thing about how she needed Christian to spot her is baloney. Gabby has been falling apart as of late. What you saw in trials is a continuation of what we saw at nationals. Marta has not been happy with her for a variety of reasons and the scoop is Gabby has not been training since nationals.
Lots of speculation as to what the story is. But the bottom line is the team does not need her in Rio. The only place she brings any real value is on Bars and there are simply better ways to structure the team -- even for bars. She has zero potential at this point (even before the more recent melt downs) for any Event medals. Many folks are hoping she does not make the team

Gabby looked better tonight - she had that smile I remembered on her face tonight during her floor exercise and she was congratulating others when they completed their exercises. I am glad to made the team. I thought that little Regan (SP?) Smith was simply adorable on her floor exercise and she is a very good gymnast. IMO

I'll be watching this interesting story on 16yo High Hurdler who became the youngest to make the track team since Carol Lewis in 1980. She's had the 3rd fastest time at 54:15 this year.
Her event doesn't start till Monday Aug 15.

Well darn, the wind is creating havoc with the rowing. Some heats are postponed, even had a capsized boat. Poor guys that got dunked in that polluted and unhealthy water. I hope the wind subsides, I love to watch rowing.

I like the rowing as well ~ I actually like most of the events except maybe the boxing, judo, wrestling and weight lifting stuff.

Yes Bach, I've been following this story for months and Russia is fortunate it was only this many, because just as recently as a few weeks ago, there was serious talk about banning the entire country because the testing and confirmation procedures were so compromised, the IOC didn't know what to believe from them !!!

They had some pretty good stuff on yesterday AND TODAY. The Equestrian 3 day event which the cross country portion,was yesterday while the jumping finished up today. There lots of great horses out there in this tough evevnt. Also the rugby 7 matches were on that is a fun event.They play 2 7 minute quarters so you're forced to score quickly. Upsets up the wazoo, Like Japan beating the NZ blacks,Argentina beat the US,FiGi slaughtered somebody and Australia was upset.

As a Canadian I very much enjoyed the Women's Rugby 7s that saw Canada take the Bronze.
Just watching women's soccer, Canada is playing Germany. Hooray, Canada just tied it up, 1-1 now.
The live coverage here is very extensive, from early morning til almost midnight. CBC, TSN and Sportsnet are covering events like a blanket.
Can you access the CBC streaming, blue? Because CBC is streaming most everything.
