THE BACHELORETTE
TWO SEARCH FOR LOVE

ABC’s hit romantic reality series, “The Bachelorette,” will kick off its 11th season continuing the surprises of this season’s “Bachelor” with the biggest one of all: there will be two Bachelorettes: the charming, charismatic beauty, Britt, who captivated Chris Soules and the rest of Bachelor Nation with a memorable hug on that first night at the Bachelor mansion, and Kaitlyn, the gorgeous, fun-loving, warm-hearted, but irreverent firecracker who let down her guard only to have her heart crushed. Who will the men prefer? Eventually, only one woman will be left to hand out the final rose. “The Bachelorette” returns to ABC, premiering MONDAY, MAY 18 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

It was the hug felt around the world. And no one will ever forget it. When stunning Britt Nilsson pulled up at the Bachelor Mansion and approached Chris, she was trembling with nervous anticipation. Moments later, she found herself in an embrace that captured both Chris’ and the country’s heart. Later that night, Chris confirmed the intensity of that embrace when he handed Britt the coveted first impression rose. And with that, a love affair began to blossom.

As Chris’s journey evolved, no one—certainly none of the other girls—could deny the connection between Britt and the handsome farmer. Their kisses were passionate, their conversations intimate. However, what seemed like true love all came to a screeching halt just before hometown dates. Britt’s dream of finding a husband was shattered. She left in tears, returning to her hometown in Michigan to mend her heart with her loving family by her side.

Born just outside Detroit, Michigan, Britt eventually moved to Los Angeles to attend college at Azusa Pacific University. After school, she stayed in California, moving to Hollywood to pursue a career in modeling. After giving up modeling, Britt worked as a waitress, spreading her infectious personality while serving others. She also began volunteering at a local church, where you can often find her greeting congregants at the door.

Since she left the show, America just can’t stop talking about Britt – and she is back and determined to find the elusive, true love she has been looking for her entire life. She knows that this process worked once for her, and she can’t wait to give it another go.

And then there is Kaitlyn Bristowe. Millions watched in quiet astonishment when Chris explained to a heartbroken Kaitlyn that she was not the woman with whom he would be spending the rest of his life. Her eyes brimming with tears, she stepped inside a waiting car to head back to her single life.

Kaitlyn is truly one of a kind. She’s beautiful, irreverent, and undeniably hilarious. In the past, however, her playful demeanor has often kept her from opening up and being vulnerable to love. It was her experience on the Bachelor that helped her finally tap into that part of her heart that had been dormant for so long. Even though she went home without the love she was so desperately looking for, Kaitlyn is thankful for her time with Chris. And now—more than ever—she is ready to let down those walls and find love again.

The daughter of a ballerina, Kaitlyn’s love of dance took hold at a very young age, and she hasn’t stopped moving since, neither figuratively nor literally. Currently, she teaches spin classes. However, Kaitlyn’s ready to trade in the cycling shoes and the gym for a pair of sparkly high heels and a house near the Bachelor mansion. Viewers were thankful for the laughs and smiles she gave them along the way, as her electric personality and indelible sense of humor lit up the screen each week. Kaitlyn was a huge fan favorite from the beginning, and remains so to this day. She is one hundred percent certain that this is the way she is going to find her husband, and wants everyone to share this once-in-a-lifetime ride with her.

Hosted by Chris Harrison, “The Bachelorette” is a production of Next Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television. Mike Fleiss, Martin Hilton and Alycia Rossiter are the executive producers. “The Bachelorette” is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format, with 5.1 stereo surround sound.

I am not getting my hopes up too high that Britt will be voted off - she will probably appeal to the men they select and I'm sure TPTB will select those that she will appeal to!  It's TPTB that wanted Britt to be the next bachelorette not the viewing public that was voting on the polls IMO.  What was it a couple of claps she got when her name was announced the first time?  Pretty pathetic if you ask me.  I agree with you singly that they must have held up "Clap" signs the second time when Britt came out so it didn't look so bad.  I am pretty much finished with this franchise - it's not even enjoyable to watch now.  I don't know why Kaitlyn even agreed to participate in this sham they are doing for the Bachelorette.  Yuck

As I posted on the other page, I don't think Kaitlyn knew this when she signed up. Sources were saying that she had already been selected and signed up and this was a week or two ago. CH just said that it was a last minute decision to make Britt a second 'ette.

Even Sean and Catherine who usually don't make waves with with the producers made a statement that they think it's "disgusting."

https://celebrity.yahoo.com/news/sean-lowe-catherine-giudici-call-bachelorette-twist-disgusting-012500479-us-weekly.html

They have a lot of people hot under the collar and I'm hoping this backfires on them severely. I guess it was just me but I didn't hear much of a difference in the limited clapping for Britt the second time around either. It was clearly in favor of Kaitlyn both times. It was said that the producers were waiting for WTA to gauge the crowd reaction to see who they would pick. So, all the polls were in Kaitlyn's favor, the applause was in Kaitlyn's favor at WTA and now this. Clearly someone in high places wanted Britt and was afraid to go against the viewers so they did this so they can blame Britt being the 'ette on the 25 guys. I'm just disgusted. This is a huge slap in the face to Kaitlyn. I think I would tell TPTB where they could shove their contract.

If Kaitlyn had signed the contract before they changed it to the new twist I would think she should be able to get out of it because it is no longer what she had signed up for.  I don't know but I just think it stinks.  There will probably be at least 20 shallow men selected and they will vote for Britt.  So the Bachelorette will start out with the men in control instead of a woman.  Twisted Evil

Thanks for the link to what Sean and Catherine had to say.

SLA, barring death or a serious illness, I doubt there's any way to get out of a contract with these people.  Consider how "muzzled" everyone is about the manipulations that go on.  Someone could make a fortune on a book revealing producer influence on what is shown.  But I agree with your assessment of what the show is likely to be.  CH is the one who wanted Britt.  Just like he wanted Andi.  His taste in women is obviously at odds with the rest of the populace.

As I said on the other thread, I'm sick of these shows "evolving."  What they really do is ruin a good thing.  I agree with the woman on Yahoo.  Things went to hell after Des' season.

CH has become the Jerry Springer of romance.  He tried like hell on the WTA to stir the pot.  And he expects people to continue to view him as the kindly mentor???  Where I once saw him as such, he's now a man chasing sensation, sadistic and mean-spirited.  All for ratings.  The man doesn't seem to understand that, for die-hard fans, he and Fleiss have killed this show.

I think I might have just finished the job of talking myself into getting off this "love" train.  lol.

rkc, CH and Fleiss deserve a mass boycott of this show.  I wonder if people who don't frequent the forums are as in-tune as those who do.  On the ABC board, things are pointed out that I might not have noticed when it played.

If the other networks elected to put a quality show in this time slot (along with a message board -lol-), I think they might be surprised by how many people would desert this franchise.

They shot themselves in the foot with JP.  The other foot with Andi.  Now, as many believe, they're ready to blow off something else with Britt.  CH spoke of "heated debates" over who would be the next 'ette.  Is he the one who was "hot" to have Britt?

You welcome. I totally agree with Sean on that. I'm glad he spoke up against them. Maybe they'll take heed to what a guy says. Remember there was a time that The Bachelorette didn't air every other season. Even back then it wasn't fair. The men ruled. Now that has been changed but when it's the girls turn to make the decisions they give the power back to the men. Do ya think there are a bunch of He-man Woman Hater's over at ABC and they just love their little boy's club? They need to remember that viewership is mostly women and they don't want to piss them off.

I was thinking the same thing about Kaitlyn's contract and that is why I said I'd tell them to shove it. I'm sure she's pissed but she'll go along with it because if she backed out now Britt fans would be clamoring stating she knew she'd lose or that she was acting childish. I'm so tired of reading things that her fans are saying about how she is the only genuine person that was on this season. That they were genuine tears. That she was the only pretty one. Thatshe was the only one that had a real connection with Chris. Seriously? They completely fell for her acting job hook line and sinker. People are so gullible.

Everything that CH said after Britt was eliminated pointed to how much he wanted Britt as the next 'ette. The funny thing was that the only reason he gave for her deserving the gig was that she is pretty and that the guys would be clamoring to have a shot with her. Seriously? What kind of slimy statement is that? A woman is beautiful so therefore she should get the job. I just lost a lot more respect for him for saying that.

I would love to see one of the other networks put a great show on up against this one and watch the Bachelor/ette fade off into the sunset. The problem is that there are too many mindless people still watching this series and the networks are afraid of that. I would love to see The Walking Dead switched from Sundays to that same time slot on Mondays and that would take care of it. LOL

Speaking of good shows, has anyone else been watching that new show on Sundays called Secrets and Lies? I am already becoming addicted to it.

We do have precedence. In Season 6 of The Bachelor, Byron Velvick and Jay Overbye were both selected as bachelors and on the first night the women picked one of them to be their bachelor for the rest of the season.  It could work out just fine.

Now, should I put Britt's picture up there for the new Bachelorette season?  Or can we think of something that is more attractive while we wait for the new season?

Byron Velvick and Jay Overbye were unknowns; new to the franchise.  In my mind, at the time, there was no doubt Byron would be chosen as the Bach.

On the other hand here we have two recycled women, both of whom have shown their basic personalities to us and have been sent home from the series.  I cannot help but feel there will be bitterness no matter what happens.

In the meantime, maybe you could make a banner of Chris and Whitney.  Just a suggestion FWIW.

I agree with you newto. There were many differences between that long ago season with Byron and the new one coming up. Just like you said, they were new and not recycled so we had no idea who they were or what there were about and so it wasn't a power play on the part of TPTB. Also, they were older. I actually liked that season for that reason...not old, just more mature then some of these idiots they put on there now.

I agree with singly that I don't want Britt's mug up there either. Wasn't it pretty interesting that when she walked out on stage at AFTR that she didn't look like a makeup counter blew up on her face? I'm sure they told her that many people that didn't want her to be the next 'ette were making comments on that. I'm sure they had someone take her makeup bag away and do it for her.

JP is so just a big part of the franchise and where he may right about it being all about money I agree with the Lowe's opinion on this move by TPTB.  JP can go ahead and watch it - I really have no interest in it nor for the franchise  any more.  The only reason I watched the last two or three bachelorettes is because there were some male contestants that were interesting  and nice to look at.  I did not watch Juan Pablo's season because I did not like him and it was disgusting to me the way that CH was trying to push down my throat as a fan favorite during the  MTA just like he was doing with Britt this last show.   Yuck

Also newto was right on with the difference of when they did this with the bachelor many moons ago.

rkc, when I saw the promos for Secrets & Lies, I put it on my DVR.  However, the more promos I saw, the less I wanted to see it.  Too much anger and chaos for my frame of mind right now.  But I've been watching American Crime with Timothy Hutton.  I don't know if the injustice there will hold me for very long.  I think I'm just easily bored these days.  I want a beginning and end each week so I don't have to linger.  Funny, I never had ADHD.  lol.

You're right about TWD.  If they put this opposite, the Bach would be blown out of the water.

As for the coming 'Ette season, it's like presenting two candidates to the senior class:  The cheerleader vs. the average girl.  If these guys didn't watch the season, they'll feel lucky to get the cheerleader.

There are fans who argue blindly for Britt and think she deserves this shot.  I can only think they're naive.  But I have no say.  lol.

Okay, RS is already spilling the beans on who the guys chose as the "ette on the first night. Others may have already saw it as well because I knew this was not going to be a well kept secret. I won't say unless someone didn't see it and wants to know or brings it up first. The other person is apparently not going home right away and is playing some sort of part in the season.
