Shirley Ballas is the new judge on Strictly. It was confirmed today. I think she is a good choice and she should do a fantastic job.

A loss for the Strictly world.

Sir Bruce Forsyth, the veteran entertainer and presenter of many successful TV shows, has died aged 89.
The former Strictly Come Dancing presenter had been unwell for some time and was in hospital earlier this year after a severe chest infection.
His long career in showbusiness began when he was aged just 14.
He became Britain's best-paid TV star, famous for hosting game shows like The Generation Game, Play Your Cards Right and The Price is Right.
He also presented BBC One's Strictly with Tess Daly from 2004 to 2014.

Qualified she is; no doubt about it. I honestly have no idea if Darcey, Bruno, or Craig feel set back, but I'd sure like to know. My bigger concern though is that Shirley might be too outspoken where Len was diplomatic. Len on Strictly had little to do with the jetlagged, cranky old geezer on DWTS.

Yes Shirley is quite opinionated and doesn't lack confidence in her own opinions. So there could be undercurrents at the judges table.

Lovely show, but I do hope the new judge Shirley is kind, somewhat like Len, because she came over as Strict! Craig needs someone to balance him out, besides Darcy. At least Shirley knows what she's about but I also hope she doesn't expect the contestants to be like pros. As you can tell even I feel a little intimidated by her

Oti is a fairytale princess, but Jonnie is far from Danny so far. The dance was maybe a tad too American for the British taste. 20 isn't a desaster, but given the highscore was 31, there's a lot of work to do. Overall, DWTS had a better start this time. There were some promising performances though; I enjoyed the classical ones the most, but I also had fun with Giovanni's Italian approach of the Paso.
Checking the leaderboard, I was surprised that in many cases Shirley scored higher than Craig- even highest of all in some cases. I certainly didn't expect that.
On another note, one of the new pros caught my eye. Have a look at Australian red head Dianne Buswell. I think you know what I mean. Couldn't they be sisters?

An Australian redhead caught my brother's eye? Imagine that, what a surprise! She is lovely though.

I still have some more dances to watch but overall this seems a very promising season. I don't think Jonnie and Oti can win but I will enjoy them as long as possible.

Shirley surprised me too. I thought she would play the dragon lady a bit. Lots of posters on my Strictly FB group missing Len. Especially the Len's Lens thing he did. I actually wish he had chosen to stay in England and retired from DWTS. Now hearing from Tony Dovolani about his desire to judge and I think he would be a good one.

It would be nice to have Tony back. He has tons of experience, and I miss his smile. But I doubt it will happen as long as his business partners participate.

As for the routines, look at Alexandra and Gorka, Ruth and Anton, or Charlotte and Brendan. Technique aside, that's the style and class I meant.
