Episode 8 Hometowns (7/17/2017); Episode 9 Spain (7/24/2017)
Rachel travels to the hometowns of Eric, Bryan, Peter, and Dean.
After the remaining men meet Rachel's family, they are off to Rioja, Spain, for romantic overnight dates, giving Rachel the opportunity to spend intimate time with each of the men. However, Rachel has different, but equally troubling, concerns weighing on her mind about the bachelors.

Rut roh ... looks like Rachel's family was not too impressed with her favorite Bryan ... they saw thru his "charm" and wonder how he could fall in love so quickly. He was talking way too much and it didnt come across sincere , plus he stumbed a bit when it came to answering their interrogation on who he would side with - his mother or his wife. Peter made a better impression but from the way the show ended last night it doesnt bode well for a marriage proposal. Eric fared pretty well but i just dont see them as a couple - sorry ...

Re: Episode 8 Hometowns (7/17/2017); Episode 9 Spain (7/24/2017)
For the first time, I actually liked Eric last night. He showed more personality and insight into his thinking. He expressed himself well and seemed like a nice guy. I still don't see him being right for Rachel. I loved him analyzing Bryan and Rachel both wearing the watches.
Peter is a great guy, staying true to himself, and seems the most down to earth. Taking it slow may not be the right thing for this show, but trying to keep it real is a smart thing. He threw some shade on Bryan talking about in Miami people have fake boobs and cheek implants. lol Rachel said she wasn't seeing it with Peter. I don't know the spoilers but maybe she will send Peter home next so he can be the next bachelor.
Bryan is a real salesman. He was giving it his best shot. He did have trouble deciding between his mom and a wife. tsk tsk Not a good answer. Rachel being upset that the family wasn't as thrilled with him as she is kind of makes it look like he will be F1.

I like Bryan, but he is a mama's boy. That spells trouble to me as I have experience in that dept! Needless to say I didn't stay with that person. JMO

Did Peter say something to Bryan about him being arrogant while they were sitting on the couch and talking or did I hear it wrong?

Peter said Bryan was arrogant but only to the producers. They switched from showing Peter and Bryan having a conversation and then to Peter's interview, back and forth.
Peter did later tell Bryan, "I don't want to be here sitting with you right now. I'm not going to lie" lol, but only after saying it's awkward sitting there with Rachel's other boyfriend (Bryan) while another boyfriend (Eric) was with Rachel and her family at the moment.

Re: Episode 8 Hometowns (7/17/2017); Episode 9 Spain (7/24/2017)
Peter is just not into Rachel. Something happened along the way, because after their first 1:1, it seemed like they had a mutual liking for each other. Now, Peter has cold feet and it's probably because he is realizing that he really isn't into her as much as he thought.
Jesus, you could tell Rachel's family has a rich history of lawyers - they were questioning Bryan like he was on trial. That was uncomfortable!
Either Peter or Eric go - It would be wise to send home Peter, but I think she has more interest in him than Eric.

We need to take into consideration the editing ... when Bryan suddenly excused himself and left the table they never explained where he went or why , altho it gave Rachel a chance to talk to her family about their attitudes towards him , but if it was a ruse then i wonder how much more editing goes on to make us think one way vs another. Because this show tricks me all the time !

For most of this season I thought Rachel was going up & back with Peter & Bryan. I do think if Peter hadn't said what he did he would be her pick, but now I think she will pick Bryan. I don't necessarily think that Peter is wrong in his way of thinking as how can you really get to know somebody in such a short period of time. If he felt that way he should have never come onto this show as he knows how it works. JMO

As soon as I learned Peter was a model, I figured he was not on the show 'for the right reasons'. So many people are there to further their career in some way. That could be why he is being honest about his emotions and trying not to hurt Rachel.therealdfshary wrote:For most of this season I thought Rachel was going up & back with Peter & Bryan. I just read that Rachel wanted a non traditional wedding ring, just stacks of bands. But of course Neil Lane wants to promote diamonds so she chose a pear shape diamond as what she likes and her F1 took it from there. That's something I had never thought about before, if the Bach'ette has any say in the style of rings the men choose. Also said she didn't like wedding dresses but would like to wear a tuxedo. I can't say that I like that choice.

Peter is 31 and it says he dabbled in modeling but his profile says he is a business owner. It also says he is a physical trainer. Bryan is 37.

Re: Episode 8 Hometowns (7/17/2017); Episode 9 Spain (7/24/2017)
Personally I still like Peter the best. I am all for taking your time before you jump into marriage so I can understand his hesitancy in proposing so soon. Obviously Rachel is ready to jump right in head first in no time at all. I don't get that and I thought she would be smarter then that. I think that Peter was realizing at the end how much Rachel wanted to rush into things and I think it made him uncomfortable and hesitant.
As to Eric, I think Rachel's family is more upper class and at times I think they looked like they were not sure about Rachel being married to him. He has that thing where his speech makes it clear he comes from the rougher side of town and I don't think they were responding to that. When he asked Rachel's mom for her blessing I didn't think she was real happy with doing that. Just an impression I got.
I would still stay clear of Bryan if I were her. He does indeed throw around the term love too easily for someone that just met her. I can see why it sent up red flags for her family. And then when the sister pulled him aside and he said he loved them already too and she was taken aback by that. You can see that she is clearly into him and wants her family and friends to like him. Just the fact that he was the only one that she introduced her friends too is a dead giveaway as to where her head and heart is at. Also the way she reacted to her family's questions was not her wanting to know what they thought of him or his sincerity but her just wanting to push him on them and her wanting them to agree with her choice regardless. I can understand her mother's concern when she asked him about his relationship with his mother and he said that his mom was the #1 woman in his life. It was almost an afterthought to say later that if it came down to taking Rachel or his mother's side he would take Rachel's. Rachel got upset and said he already answered that question, but it was clearly not a given by his response. If she chooses him in the end I just don't see smooth sailing in their future.
Also wonder why you never see Rachel's dad at anything. Maybe because being a judge he has to be careful with exposing himself? Has that ever been addressed?

I think I read somewhere that because Mr. Lindsay is a judge he is prohibited from appearing on the show. Sounds reasonable.
Remember when Juan Pablo refused to say I love you and was ripped to shreds (still is, frequently)? But Peter gets a pass somehow when he won't commit. Strange. I always thought JP was falling hard for Sharleen Joynt and when she took herself off the show JP lost all heart and just went through the motions to fulfill his contract.

Re: Episode 8 Hometowns (7/17/2017); Episode 9 Spain (7/24/2017)
rkc, your comment made me think about Rachel's conversation with Peter about what being engaged means to each of them. I don't remember exactly what she said, but what I took from it was that to her being engaged doesn't necessarily mean marriage. maybe her idea is to be engaged, but then spending whatever amount of time it takes getting to know more about each other, and maybe it works out and maybe it doesn't.
Personally, I agree with Peter. Being engaged is knowing for sure you want to marry the other person and committing to be married.

Re: Episode 8 Hometowns (7/17/2017); Episode 9 Spain (7/24/2017)
The way I understand it, Rachel was saying that a proposal to her is cultivating a relationship and then seeing where the relationship goes. For Peter, it is more absolute to him. He says engagement is marriage. Rachel seems reasonable in her terms of engagement. I guess she feels just because they get engaged, doesn't necessarily mean they will get married, though that's what she hopes for and she wants it right away. It seems some couples on this show haven't gotten engaged, but just continued their relationship. They could do that, but Rachel wants a definite engagement. As far as Eric is concerned, I was wondering if he has a slight speech impediment. I think he has potential but not necessarily ready for Rachel.

Peter just doesn't have romantic feelings for her - Come on, they ALL know what this show is about. It's about rushing to find a connection and a proposal. If it works great, if not, chalk another one lost to the unrealistic premise of this show.
Peter probably went on to promote himself, just like half dozen of the others.

Haven't there been some couples on here who haven't gotten engaged and just continued their relationship after the show? If Peter was that disinterested, wouldn't he just say so? He has been wanting to be on this show since high school.

Maybe he is treading lightly because he wants the gig of the next bachelor. He can't be a downright a-hole in the eyes of the viewers, right?
It's really hard to believe any of it, but it's entertainment to me and that's why I watch.

I don't think Peter is a bad guy. I don't think he is bachelor lead material though, but that's just my opinion. I don't think he would be interested. He doesn't seem to have the personality for it and I'm not sure he is interesting enough to carry a show. He doesn't seem extroverted enough. Rachel has the personality.

I don't think he is bad either, actually I quite like him. I just think he took this opportunity as a chance to become famous. You can't knock someone for trying to reach their goal - I think I read that his aspirations were to be an actor.
