Jonnie and Oti won the dance-off against Ruth and Anton. Judges' votes were unanimous. However, the air is getting thin for them, but at least they made it to Blackpool.

I am happy Jonnie and Oti survived and glad they get to go to Blackpool. I knew from the start they were highly unlikely to win but they have put on a good show. I suspect his physical limitations are having an impact.

Side note: lots of talk about Blackpool in my Strictly groups.

Some say Blackpool is over rated some think it's iconic. I would love to see Blackpool personally, it's rather legendary. I have watched the British show Coronation Street for more years than I care to divulge and a few years ago they filmed a segment at Blackpool. It was emotional and heartwarming and I loved it.

They put on quite a show at Blackpool! Sadly Jonnie and Oti couldn't improve much. His posture suffered again. I have a feeling it could be the end of the road for them. Only Susan scored lower, but she has a huge fan base apparently. We'll see.
Fantastic performances by Davood and Alexandra, but the surprise of the night was Gemma. Gosh, she looks adorable when she's smiling like that. Last week Bruno told her she has to get into character, and finally she did. That American Smooth was eye candy and almost perfect. However, no one tops Alexandra's performance level. This girl is an irresistible force of nature and top of the leaderboard again. Debbie fell back a bit with a Samba that was entertaining, but a little rough around the edges. Giovanni should have done without the shadow rolls maybe. Joe produced a Salsa that would have pimped any party, but nearly ended in disaster. Amazing how Katya saved herself. Who will be the final four? As of now, my money would be on Alexandra and Davood only. Everyone else has ups and downs like I've never wtnessed before.

I agree bro, Alexandra and Davood are pretty well a sure thing. Lots of indignation at the judges for harping on Jonnie's posterior sticking out. He told them a couple of weeks ago that it is necessary to enable him to keep his balance. The judges can't score Jonnie on a different scale but they could shut up about his butt.

Aww shoot, Jonnie and Oti are gone!

And it's really goodbye, Jonnie. I will miss him (and especially Oti), but let's be realistic. With competition like that, they can be proud to have made it this far. Next week it should be Susan, or it would hurt a better dancer.

Super gracious exit speech by Jonnie. A young man of style and class. Think I might favour Davood now.

This series is totally unpredictable. Debbie back on top in a tie with Joe (38 each)!? Davood consistent with 35, Alexandra down to 32, Gemma even 25 only... I will have to watch all of this first to understand what has been going on there tonight. Very strange.

I can see why Joe's Quickstep earned him two tens. He danced it well, but part of it probably was Katya's highly inventive choreography also. She really came up with moves I hadn't seen before. Well deserved anyway.
Was Alexandra's Rumba underscored, or is it because I have a crush on her? I'm not sure what the judges might have been missing. Some basics maybe, and a tad more fluidity.
Now Gemma was underscored without doubt. I liked how the storytelling went with the lyrics, and her legs and hips were moving fine in the Samba. Three sixes and a seven- really?
Mollie's QS wasn't bad at all- it just fell flat in comparison to what Joe had delivered earlier. Call it bad luck, or blame AJ for his average choreography.
Davood's posture and frame are really impressive. On top of that, he and Nadyia showed a very sentimental performance. I would have liked a bit more movement across the floor maybe.
Debbie couldn't go wrong with an AT to such classic music. Giovanni let her do lots of splits! At first I thought it was too athletic, but halfway through something clicked and the atmosphere became totally gripping. However, I noticed a few insecurities. Maybe four nines would have done.
Susan and Kevin obviously can't keep up with the standard the others have reached meanwhile. Their American Smooth was highly entertaining and would have been great in week five, but this is week ten. I think she will be leaving tonight- at least I hope so. If Gemma is in the dance-off, the judges should save her to make up for the scoring mess.
The Paso Doble marathon was a first. Really difficult to observe all couples at the same time. Lots of action on the floor. Alexandra won this round, so there.

Susan was just eliminated. With all necessary respect, her time had come. But Alexandra in the bottom two smells a bit like leaving the judges nowhere else to go...

I was stunned to see Alexandra in the DO. She does take a lot of flack in my Strictly FB group. Mostly for that perennial lament - too much training and prior experience. I wonder if the fan support lack will be sufficient to do her in.

And the roller coaster keeps rollin'... This time Davood took the dip, while Joe is close behind the leading ladies. Debbie and Alexandra tied for first place.
We might be in for another surprise tomorrow. Alexandra, Debbie, Mollie, and Davood have one thing in common: they have all been in the bottom two already. Gemma and Joe have not. Someone figure that out, please.

That was a bunch of highly entertaining dances on Musicals Week. So what happened last night cliff note version? Poor Gemma can try as she might, she's not getting the scores at the moment. I loved the Quickstep Aljaz put together for her.
Mollie and AJ were perfect as Olivia and John. That dance too was better than the scores in my eyes. The judges are obviously beginning to sort out the dispensable candidates.

Joe and Katya were miraculous. I'm with Craig. Who would expect a Samba to Money from Cabaret? And they made it work!
Debbie and Giovanni showed all the emotion I missed last week in the AT. You can't go wrong with American Smooth to Memory from Cats...
Nadiya is at least as fierce (and hot) as Peta, and Davood had trouble reining her in. Not the first time. She was the whole opera, he remained the phantom.
Alexandra and Gorka transported me back to Charlie and Sharna's Mary Poppins number. Just this time no one dropped anything, and Alexandra out-danced her pro- again it was Craig who pointed it out.

It was an entertaining night of dancing, I agree, bro. I wonder where the painful separation blade will fall tonight. Alexandra remains the most vilified dancer on my Strictly group. Still can't figure out why.

I saw it coming. Gemma and Mollie safe again; Alexandra in the line of fire. The judges will probably save her and sacrifice Davood, but what has the girl done to deserve this?
ETA: Davood is gone, and two weeks ago we thought he'd make it to the finale. Well, someone had to leave. He had the same score as Gemma, but she got more support apparently.

Yep it's good-bye to Davood. That doesn't make me too happy. I can only re-report what I read on the Strictly FB group page. The fans are down on Alexandra because 1. she has dance training/experience, 2. she's perceived as arrogant,  3. she's just all around too good. Totally irrational but as Jim Morrison so aptly put it, people are strange.

Jim Morrison was wrong. People are mad. Go tell those fb-weirdos they're hypocritical. Yes, Alexandra is too good- for Britain. Gosh, Jordan Fisher probably would never have won on Strictly. My prediction: Alexandra vs Debbie in the semi-finale dance-off. One of them out of the way, and the winner will be Joe, Mollie, or Gemma. A non-dancer anyway, like Ore over Danny. Why do they all have to be so likable though? Confused

Is it just me or did Debbie do a lot of walking around in her jive? Granted, I have only viewed the very brief BBC clip and have to watch it in its entirety.

The picking will come later. First impression: all the pros were able to dance full on, and that speaks volumes about the quality of the competition.
Alexandra seems unbeatable, but will she get the votes? Unlike Craig, I thought the VW was even better than the Salsa, but no doubt both dances were outstanding.
Debbie's Foxtrot was better than her Latin, but far from Alexandra's Ballroom level. The Jive kicks were on time, but lacked retraction, and the choreography didn't impress me much.
Gemma isn't the first female this season struggling with the Rumba (a bit hesitant), but her Tango was definitely better than all eights. Mollie is a good dancer too, but AJ's routines weren't as memorable as some of the others.
For me, the best choreographer this season is Katya. Joe may not have been perfect, but their American Smooth was feather lite, and the AT blew me away.
Joe and Alexandra should be safe imo. If it's Mollie vs. Debbie or Gemma, Mollie will probably get the axe. But I'm lousy at predictions, so let's wait until tomorrow.

What speaks for him is that he has no dance background, has kept improving over the season, and Katya seems really inspired and creates great routines for him.
On the other hand, he would be the third male champion in a row after Jay and Ore (not sure though if that matters for the British viewers), and the competition is fierce. But since the judges' scores don't count in the finals, popularity is everything.
