Laurie looks like a little Carmen Miranda. Even though she is perky and a gymnast, I like her. She has a realness about her. She doesn't come across as fake.

To me, she doesn't seem to come across as 16 years old, either. I don't know how she is in real life, but thus far, she has come across the screen as being younger, as contrasted with Willow (who was 14 and seemed more mature) and Shawn who was 17, but had an introspective serious side to her that Mark was able to draw out, and Zendaya, Rashon and Kyle who carried the worldliness of show biz.

It will be interesting to see how she is able to project maturity when it is needed in a dance.

Yes, she is. And is likely to continue to be technically proficient, even as she starts to get into the slower dances in hold. But I don't think that is enough. Val is going to have to bring out the actress in her.

I thought she rushed a bit here and there, or finished her movements a tad earlier than Val and the backing dancers. Still a great dance that Val designed to meet her personality.

As someone has said "she is a little firecracker" ... it will be interesting to see how she does in the "smooth" dances.She is doing a great job and I love how this team is so joyful and having a great time together.

I'm so glad that Laurie & Val got immunity. It might help, since the elimination result for this week can only come from a pool of 6 couples.

You know brother I was thinking the same thing when they did their Cha Cha the first week.....Meryl and Maks had the Cha Cha their first week also.....I noticed some of the same facial connection and looks she was giving Val just like Meryl did in that first dance.

I'm going to start calling her 'SpongeBob Laurie' she just soaks everything in! I think that gorgeous dress, and her hair and make up maybe helped her to get in the mood, she's a young girl that became a woman with that Tango....Anna helped Zendaya to do it, so this one was up to Val!!!

I was thinking since she is Hispanic, she has a natural flair for the passion and intensity like the Spanish and Italians. Is that racist? Well, I said it. I can see how she would remind you of Meryl since she is so little like her.

I see no racism there, Glitters. There may be Brazilians who can't Samba, but not too many. Two of the judges on our version of the show did a showdance last season, a Salsa. He's normally a model coach, not a pro dancer. Took him two hours to get the choreography down, then he took the stage and nailed it. She, a 23-times Latin Champion, was asked afterwards how that was possible. She simply said, "he's from Cuba. I knew it was within him".

During rehearsals, he said sth like he didn't want her to remain just cute Laurie. Val really has a way with these young girls.

I was surprised to find that Lochte is Cuban. I don't know how much Cuban, but I thought Lochte was a German name and he looks more German to me

I misspoke in this post. I meant to say Meryl is small like Laurie and not that she is so little like her. It sounds weird. They are both fast too.

I believe you. I just looked it up and it says his mother is Cuban and his father is Dutch, British and German. I thought he looked more German than Cuban.

So far, nothing to complain. But what else- as you put it yourself- should give her the clear advantage tonight? I just hope they don't overdo it and keep the balance (not just physically).

So many people seem to think this is a slam dunk for all 10's. It might be, but this is not the freestyle, Val has to put enough Jazz into it to please all the judges and sometimes that is difficult especially with jH in the mix.

Well deserved 10's imo....Val you may have had help with the choreography, But it was Laurie that nailed it......what CA said about her being a combination of all of those dancers is true..... laurie you are a superstar Praise
