Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
Hey peebeeb, the funny thing about cars is they tend to let you down when you need them most- in the winter. Maybe James' pit crew should have a look at yours?
Yes, a dream team they were- and will remain forever. Melancholy is appropriate; I totally get it. Just promise you won't get caught up in it too much. Drop in here if you need company, and maybe join us on the Lovely Ladies thread (open 24-7 even between the seasons). And the weather is always fine there in St. Petasburg, Chongatroydville, and Hinchtown.

I'm not normally melancholy, I'm a pretty happy person, but I realized that it was two years ago at this time that the docs put a stent in my mom's esophagus and we were told that that was it. Three months later she was gone. I think that i'm just really missing her momness right now.
I have my trees up and the twinkling always makes me happy. Had a cry last night and that helped.
Will be seeing you around here for sure.
Thanks for your kindness and hope you're having a wonderful day.
I want to say I just heard about the attack in Germany and hope that you and all those you love and care about, are okay. I'm sending loving thoughts to all. *hugs*

Thank you for asking, peebeeb (and sister Babs as well). I can assure you me and my family were not personally affected. Berlin is about 400 mls away from my place. But it would be naive to think that alone allows you to feel safe. Malicious attacks like this can happen anyplace, anywhere, anytime. Just more likely in big cities with crowds of people; which was one of the reasons we moved to a small village. Peace on earth is but a pious hope, I guess.

I'm so glad that you and your family are okay, but am saddened for the horror of it all.DeadManDancing wrote:Thank you for asking, peebeeb (and sister Babs as well). I always hope for peace on earth, but it's a messed up world we live in. However, I will keep on hoping.
*big hugs to you*

Just for fun--
It's the 20th anniversary of the Macarena--James' go-to dance move before he joined DWTS. Here is a reaction video looking back at the dance. Hard to believe it's been that long ago!

You know sue, I'm still a bit disappointed our team didn't get to do a Samba. Sharna would certainly have created something extraordinary, and with a little assistance from Ricardo, I bet Hinch would have nailed it. The Macarena would have been the perfect song for them.
And yes, we're not that young any more. Almost five years went by since Gangnam Style.

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
I don't remember--has anyone used the Macarena as dance music on DWTS?
At the time I was glad that they didn't get the Samba because I had a feeling that James was perhaps still a bit weak in the hip movement department even though he managed to pull off some in their cha cha. And as much as I enjoyed their rumba, hip movement was kept to a minimum. Sharna instead concentrated on the moves that James was best at. I hope James continues to practice hip movement though. You never know when he might need it again, and Ricardo may not always be available!

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
Hey sue, a little more trust in our team please! The ChaCha was only week three, the Rumba three weeks later was much improved in that department already, and they would have embraced the challenge and worked it out.
Don't think they appreciated being offered the easy road. I mean, they did the Foxtrot three times, but no Samba or Salsa. Laurie did both. People may have thought she was the more universal dancer. Who knows. James would probably not have murdered the Samba the way Danny Mac did on Strictly, but we would have seen a different side- and maybe even another big surprise.

Holy carp, I'm Macarena-ing all over the place, lol. Plus, the song is now stuck in my head.
Didn't realize it has been that long.

I remember Charo was on some show years ago and the subject of the Macarena came up.It might have been around 1996 when it was flying hipeebeeb wrote:Holy carp, I'm Macarena-ing all over the place, lol. Plus, the song is now stuck in my head.

in this country but she said the Macarena was big in Spain in the early 60s long before she came to this country. If you read some of the fine print when the song is playing it mentions something about being created in Spain in 1962. So it's even older than what we thought it was.

I, as usual, have something to say about fad dances so I am taking this conversation over to the between seasons thread.

Haha, good one bro. Seriously that Jitterbug just may be my favourite #TeamStopAndGo dance. I have rewatched it the most often.

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
Even with Sharna's injured knee they topped the leaderboard and outdid everyone else. The acting from both James and Sharna in that number was out of this world.
