Sara had a surprise for Brett. They met at the airport
on Thursday morning, but instead of a plane, there was a helicopter waiting for
them. Brett liked that immensely. They boarded the copter and got a
bird’s eye view of the whole greater Miami area before they headed for Key
West.

Sara knew that Brett was into water skills, so she put them
in the hands of Fury tours. When they arrived at the pier, they boarded a
glass bottom boat and were able to enjoy the creatures of the deep through the
floor beneath them. They had fun identifying the fish they knew and
making up names for ones they had no idea about. Since Brett knew a
lot of Latin, he was pretty good at it! The couple was prepared
to swim, so when they reached the reef they snorkeled and got a “hands on
experience” (that’s a teacher’s term Sara knew) with those gorgeous
neon-colored fish. Lunch was served on deck and it gave them a
chance to have a relaxed conversation. Among other things, Brett told
Sara that he loved his work at Shand’s ER in Gainesville. It was one of
the finest hospitals in the state. He wondered in Sara would consider
relocating, if he ended up being her final choice. Sara answered
thoughtfully, “Brett, I must admit I haven’t really thought about that too
much, but I certainly am ready to fall in love and follow my heart and if that
leads me to you and Gainesville, of course, I would be willing to move.”
Brett looked very relieved. Then Sara continued, “Although, I wouldn’t
just give up my job for a man, I’d give up my job because we had talked it over
and it made more sense for me to move than him. Meaning, I know you love
your job, Brett, but if I needed to stay in Miami, and we were getting married,
would you be willing to relocate for me?” Brett kind of coughed on his
potato chips, but he recovered and said, “Yes, Sara, of course, if we decided
that was the best decision for our future.” As lunch was over, the couple
arrived back at the pier. Their swimsuits were dry, so Brett had put on
some khakis and a polo shirt and Sara had slipped a soft shift over her suit made
of a shimmering material that changed color from green to aqua and back and as
she moved, she was poetry in motion. Now the couple got to walk around
and get more of a Key West experience as they entered shops, browsed around,
and joked about the gjfts they might buy one another. Brett said he
really didn’t need a bodyless shark’s mouth and Sara said she had enough shell
necklaces to last a lifetime already. As the day drew to an end, they
boarded a ship for a sunset cruise and joined the other guests on the bow as
they headed West towards a beautiful flaming sky. It was the perfect time
for a kiss and Brett was not shy about using the opportunity.

Later that night, Sara and Brett flew back to Miami.
Sara was very tired after three full days and evenings with her
Bachelors. After dropping Brett off, she lay down across the seat in the
limo and gazed at the stars through the limo’s moon roof. It was a
beautiful, clear night. As the limo drove, she could see three
stars. She giggled and thought about how the stars seemed to represent
Richard and Eric and Brett. She thought about her day at the beach with
Richard, her museum and dancing date with Eric, and her most recent Key West
date with Brett. As she watched, two of the stars disappeared from view,
as they fell out of the range of the moon roof. Hmmm! Sara
smiled. The star that remained was the one representing the Bachelor she
had been thinking was the one for her! As Sara continued to watch, the
star twinkled brightly, as if it was looking down on her to confirm
her decision.

Lara was so relieved when the plane finally touched
down. It had not been a pleasant flight. A couple of the passengers
had started a political debate that had spread to most of the other
flyers. They all argued the entire way home and Lara had an awful
headache from listening to them. She decided that she didn’t feel up to
seeing either of her guys until Monday evening. She felt sure of her
decision. She had true feelings for Paul and she wanted to spend time
with just him to see where they could go. If she saw Chris before Monday
she felt she would just be leading him on and she didn’t want to do that.
If she saw Paul and Chris found out she was back……

She decided to just go straight home and left orders
with the film crew that no one should tell the guys that she had
returned. She arrived just in time for the Scottish Tea. Mother
Bonnet was so glad to have her youngest girl home and peppered her with
questions. Lara smiled but refused to answer. She enjoyed the
Scottish Tea though. It was silly and old fashioned, but it was part of
what made her family special. Of all the sisters, Lara was the one who
most loved family traditions. Every Christmas she made sure that all the
little rituals were followed, right down to the ice cream novelty snack they
ate before bedtime. She smiled as she thought of teaching Paul all of
these silly things. This Christmas would be different with so many
of her sisters married.

The tea helped her headache and she actually had a good talk
with Louise who bursting to brag about her wonderful honeymoon. Who would
have thought she and Louise could have a conversation without arguing?
Obviously love changed people. The sisters sat down in the library.

“And what about you?” Louise asked, “Is my baby sister
in love yet?” Seeing Lara’s blush, Louise laughed delightedly. “You
are! I knew it! Which guy did you fall for?”

Louise begged for information and became a little miffed
when Lara wouldn’t say.

“I just don’t think it is fair to not tell them
first. I really dread sending one of them away. “

As she talked, Lara was searching through the shelves of
books.

“There has to be a Letting a Guy Down Easy for Dummies here
someplace!” she moaned. Louise laughed and told her she would just have
to write one herself.

The next morning the girls were packed and ready to go quite
early; the guys helped load the limo, and they were off to SeaTac airport. The
ride was unusually quiet-everybody seemed deep in thought, the emotion from
last evening weighed heavily on their hearts. Jenny's eyes were tearing as she
stared out the window watching the rain drizzle slowly and cloud up her view.
The umbrellas were brought out as they arrived, and Jason put on a cap to block
the rain and turned it around just for Jenny-that was her favorite look for
Jason-she could not resist him when he wore it that way. Jenny finally smiled
and hugged Jason because she knew he did it for that purpose; she kissed him
with every ounce of love she could muster, and the effect was not lost on
Jason.

As they were in line at the airport Jenny noticed the flight to Paris
was being boarded-boy, another stab of familiarity, although a pleasant one.
She thought she saw the Donald being ushered to the boarding area, and that
reminded her of Amarosa. Jenny shivered as that name always gave her a chill.
She thought she just may need to talk to someone about that, and then it was
time to board the plane. Penny made about three trips through security-she kept
triggering alarms until finally Jenny came over to assist her. "Get rid of
those silly phones and flashlights," she hissed to Penny. As the twins
were entering the plane their bags got tangled. The girls tried to pull them
apart, and Jenny gave one final tug and slipped. Penny saw her going down as if
in slow motion, but couldn't catch her. Jenny was down for the count, and the
guys and the flight attendant came to her aid.

When Jenny sat up she felt so silly. But everyone acted as
if nothing had happened and that helped Jenny hide her discomfort. Jason was
sitting near her, and Penny and Dakota sat in the row ahead of them. But she
noticed that the plane seating was different. Things were actually sectioned
off and people looked as if they were waiting in lines. There appeared to be
little booths that people were going in and out of. There was also an actual
room that people were waiting to go into-what the heck was going on here she
wondered. Then she saw both presidential candidates talking with Donald Trump,
and Hillary and Sarah again-HUH?? Oddly enough she heard her name being paged
and someone was leading her to a room that said Regression Therapy in
Progress--SHHHH Please! Jenny turned to leave but was pushed into the room by
an attendant. As she sat down the therapist came in and sat down-ok now she
knew she was crazy-it was Sarah Palin-er Tina Fey-and she was wearing some type
of yellow feathers. She had a notepad and began asking Jenny questions. Did she
think she could be a good mother? Who was she going to vote for in November?
Who should be the next Bachelor for ABC? Should it be Jason? "No!"
she cried. Oh and who is prettier-Sarah Palin or Hillary Clinton? As Jenny
sputtered out her answers, Tina/Sarah told her she needed this
"regression" medical history in order to figure out Jenny's past
lives, and what impact this information would have on her future. “Sarah” then
told Jenny that she was ready to go into the next room but to be careful
because the sky was falling! She would have to go through the actual
process-whatever that was- in that room! As Jenny entered the room she got that
stabbing pain in her neck again and she cringed. Then she saw her therapist-but
this time it was indeed Amarosa, wearing that silly pink feathered outfit that
she wore in Miami! Then as Amarosa turned around she was really Hillary
Clinton-er-Amy Poehler. This time she was asked to list her favorite birds and
name them all. Then Jenny had to make up a silly frog song and include some
ducks and bees please. The last question was, who has more experience-Hillary
Clinton or Sarah Palin. If she could do all this she would get to vote in the
booths provided-she would be voting for the president and also for the next
bachelor. She also she had to pick birds that would grace the presidential
palace ponds!! If she voted for the actual winner of the election she would win
a trip to Paris in the time machine with Sean, and could choose whatever year
to visit. She would get her choice on the menu of a Puffin McMuffin, or Honeyed
Frog's Legs!! Suddenly Tina/Sarah came in and told Hillary/Amy to change her
clothes or she would have to call for backup! The two got into a scuffle, and
sure enough, the fashion police showed up and hauled Amarosa/Hillary/Amy away.
She could be heard yelling for Donald to come bail her out, and then her voice
died away. Jenny could hear Penny calling for her, and as she looked up she saw
her beloved sister's face and hugged her so hard! “OMG Penny I have never been
so glad to see you in my whole life! I just had the scariest dream about the
election, the time machine and Amarosa-AGAIN!! “ Penny assured her that she also
had a doozie about a time machine, but didn’t want to give out too much
information to the guys-they would really be second guessing these
relationships!! Jenny had no idea how the twins ended up sitting next to each
other on the plane, but was relieved that Jason was not a witness to this
adventure-even if was just a dream-WHEW!

By this time they had landed and the foursome prepared to
get off the plane and make it back to the castle just in time for the Scottish
High Tea that Mrs. B. had planned for that day. Both Jenny and Penny were so
relieved to be back home and were looking forward to a little hoo hum in their
lives right about now…

Mrs. B was in top form at the Scottish Tea. She now
had two married daughters, although Tara and Jerry were still away on their
honeymoon, courtesy of ABC that had splurged and sent them to Fiji. The
rest of her daughters had come home to "roost" as they say.
Bonnie and Fred were sitting side by side, nursing their secret until the
following evening. Jane was talking with Jeremy and Peter and the three
made jovial companions. Louise and Ron were telling stories about their
adventures in Bermuda and how they had had a lovely little cottage with a
private pool that overlooked the ocean. Suzie Q. was taking turns talking
to Brian who was perched on a window seat, and Matt who was talking to Mr. B.
about the price of soy beans, and Bob who was talking to Sara about how much he
liked Suzie and thanking Sara for agreeing to make the switch. Sara had
decided, like Lara, not to have any of her guys at the tea. It would be
too confusing, so she was basically hanging out with Lara. Kara was
there, but she was preoccupied worrying about Twilley who was still not feeling
well. The Doctors were running some tests. Jenny and Penny, after
their whirlwind of activities in Seattle were just happy to be home again and
were looking forward to Monday night.

Jenny and Penny spent a lot of time with Mrs. B. during the
tea. They both confided in her that their dreams had gotten so crazy, and they
couldn't figure out what had led up to this crescendo: the virtual clashing of their
worlds all in one dream! Their mother explained that one of their great
grandmothers had an extremely active dream life. It became even more so
whenever she faced extreme stress and/or difficult decisions. The dreams served
as a sieve of sorts. The excess "waste" was taken out; everything
that stood in the way of her growth was eliminated. Then she was able to move
on and take from that dream what she needed to. Both girls had never been in
relationships this serious before. Couple that with the pressures of being on
this show and the girls were beginning to make sense out of all the
"nonsense." They also were beginning to think that the men in their
lives would run away in horror because they were a little TOO interesting. But
now the twins felt that they had a handle on their "issues" and would
be able to control this ''gi-ft" with more confidence in the future.

After the tea, the girls went for a swim and just let the
anxiety melt away. Their mother joined them in the hot tub and the three had a
special bonding time. Being the middle children Jenny and Penny felt a little
neglected in the mothering department. They loved Mrs. B. with their whole
hearts, and would do anything for her, but missed not having more opportunities
like this one. And so the three reminisced about old times, Penny brushed her
mother's hair as they did in the past, and they laughed about all the silly
little girl things they used to do. Part of what made Jenny and Penny feel so
out of touch of late was this very thing: they were growing up, and letting go
of their little girl selves meant giving up a little of the closeness they
always had while living in this castle. And being twins made that doubly hard.
They would be moving on with their lives and creating new lives with their own
families. The twins would be split up and this contributed to Jenny and Penny's
meltdown dreams: it was the first dream they each had without the other twin in
it. And while they were so looking forward to creating these new lives, they
were also letting go of little pieces of their hearts...

Monday evening came with the usual crews setting up the
cameras and lighting. The girls dressed in their fancy attire and the
hair and makeup staffs did their magic. Again, the structure of the
evening was less formal. Chris taped a brief statement that would set up
the night. “Well, it’s hard to believe, but this is only our third (or is it the fourth?) Monday
evening of The Bonnet Bachelorettes and we have so much happening on this show,
that it’s mind-boggling! So here’s a brief recap on where we stand, going
in age order. Bonnie is down to one Bachelor, Fred. Jane is trying
to decide between Peter and Jeremy. Suzie Q. still has three Bachelors -
Matt, Bob, and Brian. Louise has gotten married to Ron. It’s
hard to tell what’s been going on with Jenny and Penny, but maybe we can
straighten that out tonight. Tara has married Jerry and we will get a
glimpse of them on their honeymoon in Figi, if our long distance reporter,
Loves Romance, is available to cover the story. Sara is also dating three
– Brett, Eric, and Richard. Kara is Hopelessly Devoted to Twilley at this
point. Lara has two Bachelors left – Chris and Paul. What will the
evening bring? Well, with the Bonnet sisters anything is possible.
So, let the evening begin!”

Monday evening finally arrived and Lara was a nervous
wreck. She dressed three different times before deciding on a “little
black dress.” Of course she put her lion pendant on for courage.
Then the hair and makeup crew came in. Tonight’s look was soft waves down
her back with a few tendrils curled spiral around her face. She looked every
bit the beautiful young ingénue. Before she left the room, she
carefully wrapped the present she had bought right before she left
Gatlinburg. She gave it to a crew member with careful instructions.
Then she went in search of Chris Harrison. She told him what was
happening and how she wanted to handle it. He agreed to her plan.

The cocktail party lasted forever. Paul and
Christopher both greeted her enthusiastically. They asked about her trip
and seemed especially interested in her description of the hot tub at the
cabin. She smiled and teased them both but sighed with relief when Chris
Harrison came to tell her it was their turn in the decision room.

As she had planned, only Christopher was allowed to
come in. Paul was baffled and concerned when he was told he would not be
meeting Lara in the decision room at all and was escorted outside.

Christopher watched him being guided away and became
rather smug, “Now,” he thought, “Lara is finally going to tell me that
I’m the guy she has chosen.” He stepped into the room with total
confidence. He approached Lara, who was looking out the window trying to
gather her composure. Christopher slipped up behind her and put his arms
around her. He kissed the back of her head and whispered, “Do you know
how incredibly beautiful you look tonight. Lara, I missed you so much.”

He turned her around and gave her a very sensual
kiss. Lara wanted to stop him but suddenly all the words she planned to
say left her brain. He stepped back and looked into her eyes. He
smiled and with just a little tease in his voice said, “So now, how much did
you miss me?”

Lara felt tears sting her eyes. How could she
tell him? She opened her mouth but the words dried up before she could
say them.

Chris was no dummy. He realized that something had
gone very wrong. He reached out and tilted up her chin.
“Lara? Did you miss me?” The vulnerability in his voice broke her
heart. Suddenly she found words.

“I did miss you, Christopher. You are such an
amazing man. When I met you I thought I had fallen asleep and was having
the most wonderful dream ever. I had an incredible time with you and I
can never thank you enough…..”

“But?” Chris prompted. His voice was moving from
vulnerable to angry.

“I’m not falling in love with you. I think you
sexy and an incredible singer. I know we could have a great life together
but it isn’t the life I want. I don’t want to hurt you. I can’t
lead you on. I have to tell you goodbye now.” She gently touched
his face and he pushed her hand aside.

“Don’t you know what we could have? Don’t you
know what I could do for your career? Do you really expect me to believe
you are picking Paul over me?” His voice was raised and fully angry now.

“Well if I had any doubts before you are certainly
erasing them now. I’m being honest with you and if you don’t like it –
well, just go home. There’s a limo waiting for you.” Lara’s face
was red with anger herself. She didn’t feel she deserved this treatment
at all, especially since she had spent the last two days worrying about his
feelings!

Chris Harrison had been watching form a corner of the
room. He stepped forward and said, “I’m sorry, Christopher, it is
time to go.” He politely but firmly took the angry man’s arm and led him
out the door.

Lara fought tears. Then suddenly, laughter won
out. Chris had looked so sure of himself! Maybe next time he would
be a little more humble. Then she smiled joyfully. It was time to
go to Paul!!!

Bonnie and Fred had told Chris Harrison that they needed to
talk with him. When he got a chance, Chris joined them by their bench in
the garden. Bonnie and Fred filled him in on a special announcement they
needed to make at the Cocktail Party.

Meanwhile, Jane, Peter, and Jeremy
had convened in Mr. B’s study, as usual. “Ok, you two,” said Peter, “ I
can see something’s happened this week and I have a feeling someone’s not going
to be around too much longer and that someone’s gonna be me! Jane, am I a
gonner?” Peter actually didn’t seem too upset, so Jane felt it was only
fair to be honest a little earlier than she had planned to be that
evening. “Peter,” Jane started.

“I know,” Peter interrupted, making it even easier, “We’ve had a wonderful time together. You enjoyed meeting
my family and seeing the Firestone Vineyards. I’m a wonderful guy and any
girl would be lucky to have me, but I’m just not the guy for you.
Right?” “Peter! You’re right, but I thought I’d have to make that
speech!” Jane laughed. “I know, but this is how I feel. I can
see that you and Jeremy have something special. We did, too, Jane, but
as things moved along we became more friends and kindred spirits than a
couple with a love connection. Does that size it up?”

“Yes! So, you’re OK with it?” “I’m more than OK with it, because I
know there is a girl out there for me who is going to love me just as much as
you love Jeremy and then I’ll be the happiest man in the world.” “Thanks,
Peter!” said Jane and Jeremy in unison. “I’m wishing only the best for
the two of you. Is it OK if I take my walking papers early this evening?
(The camera man nodded it would be fine, since they had the unexpected, but
spectacular scene “in the can!”)

Bye, you two!” Peter shook Jeremy’s hand. He then put a hand on each of Jane’s shoulders, looked
into her eyes one last time, and gave her a gentle kiss on her cheek.
Then Peter Firestone walked out of the study and Bonnet Castle for the last
time , a true gentleman with an even truer ”touch of class!”

Paul paced around the garden. What was taking Lara so
long? Was he about to be dumped? Maybe she wanted to do it off
camera first, and then take him back to the room and say it again for the
cameras. That had to be it. He couldn't compete with the glamour
that Christopher could offer. He didn't have famous family members.
Paul knew he had a good singing voice, but again he couldn't compete. Why
did he keep trying these stupid shows anyway? He sat down morosely on the
swing and closed his eyes. "Appropriate," he thought,
"this is the spot where I first met her. I guess it's a good
place to say goodbye."

(Did you ever notice that Paul has a sense of the dramatic
that matches Lara's quite well? And he really should stop being so sure
that everything in his life will go wrong. After all, that is about to
change!)

Paul opened his eyes and saw Lara walking towards him.
She had changed clothes! Now she was in a strapless cotton dress that was
printed with rose colored flowers. She looked so romantically beaytiful
that Paul wanted to cry. But since he was a man, after all, he swallowed
his emotions and prepared for the worst.

"Sorry to keep you waiting Paul," Lara spoke
softly. Paul noticed the everpresent light from the nearby camera and
realized they were not alone.

"That's alright," he replied. His tone was
very controlled and a little withdrawn.

Lara walked up to the swing and stood close to him.
She put her hands right above his on the ropes.

"This was where we first met. I felt such a
connection with you that night. Then all this craziness started.
And then Christopher showed up. I'd had a huge crush on his brother since
high school. I just got really confused. That's why I had to get
away. And I'm so glad I did because being apart from both of you helped
me figure out just how I feel and who I wanted to be with."

Paul looked up at her and swallowed, ready to hear the bad
news. Lara saw the worry in his eyes and smiled.

"Paul, I just had a long talk with Chris. I told
him it was time for him to go home. It was really hard to do but it was
the right thing."

Paul's eyes widened and he started to speak. Lara
gently stopped him. "No, not yet. You need to hear all of
this. I realized while I was gone that while I liked Chris, you were the
one that I felt connected to. You were the person I wanted to spen all my
time with. Paul, I don't move as fast as some of my sisters. I'm
not ready for diamond rings and white lace dresses. I still have college
to finish and I want to see if I can have a career. But Paul, I don't
even want to think of not seeing you again. I want us to date for awhile,
exclusively. I truly believe I am falling in love with you. I want
to give that love time to grow and see where it takes us. That is, if you
want the same thing." She stopped talking and just looked at
him. Inwardly she was trembling and scared to death. What if he
didn't feel the same way?

Paul wasn't sure he had enough breath inside him to even
speak for a moment. He slid his hands up the roaps to cover her hands.

"Lara, I know I'm falling in love with you. I
want you to finish school and let your voice take you wherever you can
go. I will be completely supportive of you. I want us to have some
"normal time" too. I do want the same thing, but mostly I just
want you." He pulled her down into his lap and their lips met.
They kissed a long time, just gently swaying in the swing.

When they finally came up for air, Lara jumped up.

"Don't leave now!" kidded Paul.

Lara stepped behind a tree and found the package she had
arranged to be place here earlier. She handed it to Paul and smiled
mischieviously. He looked suprized as he pulled at the wrapping.
His eyes widened even bigger when he pulled out a pair of men's black bikini
underwear! Since Lara was not the type to issue such an obvious
invitation, Paul was confused.

"Turn them over!" Paul did as Lara requested
and began to laugh uproariously. Across the back of the undies, in large
scripted white printing was written "Lara."

"If you are going to wear any woman's name from now
on," she teased, "It had better be mine!"

"I will treasure them always," Paul spoke
seriously, "I will keep them close to my heart. Or some important
place anyway."

Lara moaned at the joke and they returned to the far
more critical activity of kissing. They continued until Chris Harrison
came out to hunt for them. He happily informed them that tomorrow they
would return to Gatlinburg and Lara's beautiful cabin for an overnight
date. Both were thrilled at the prospect and walked back to the castle
with their arms around each other. Chris had to keep prodding them
though, because they still stopped every few steps for another kiss.

Lying snug in her bed that night, Lara happily reviewed the
day. Suddenly Tara and Jerry popped into her mind. She wondered how
their honeymoon was going. She hoped they were as happy right now as she
was.

Preview from tomorrow's chapter--- Tara and Jerry soak up
both the sun and the romance in beautiful Fiji. Poor Tara still can't
hold her liquor, as Jerry discovers the hard way.

At 10:00, Chris made the intercom announcement:
“Ladies and Gentlemen, please join us in the Grand Ballroom for our weekly
Cocktail Party.”

Our beautiful Bachelorettes and their remaining Bachelors
all headed for the Ballroom. When everyone had arrived, the crowd was
much smaller than it had been on other evenings. Chris made a mental note
that they’d have to move to the small ballroom next week. At 10:30, Chris
took the mike and said, “Attention! May I have your attention, please! We
have a special announcement.”

At this point, Fred and Bonnie came
forward. They were dressed matchy, matchy. He was wearing a white
John Travolta-style suit and Bonnie wore a white dress that fastened over one
shoulder and was strapless on the other side. From below the empire
bodice, a series of layers of white chiffon fell, overlapping each other, to
just above the knee. Fred took the mike from Chris, saying, “Thanks,
Chris!” He looked out at the crowd, knowing they were surrounded by
friends and Bonnie’s family, but his face flamed red with nervousness and
excitement. Fred’s eyes twinkled as he said, “I am so happy to announce
that this wonderful, beautiful woman,” he pulled Bonnie towards him and holding
her hand, raised it in a victory like gesture, “has made me the happiest man in
the world, by agreeing to be my wife! We’re engaged, people!”

Everyone started clapping and cheering. Mrs. B. fainted, because she
couldn’t believe how everything was falling into place for her girls.
Fortunately, Mr. B. was prepared and caught his wife before she hit the
ground. Once Mrs. B. was revived by the ABC medic and sitting comfortably
on a love seat, conveniently placed at the side of the room, and Bonnie had
made sure her mother was all right, Fred said they had more to share.
With that, he signaled to the small orchestra on hand for the occasion, and
after a brief musical introduction, Fred and Bonnie broke into a dance routine
straight out of the movie, Saturday Night Fever, complete with those
synchronized finger points and fancy footwork. Let’s just say, the
crowd went wild! Who would have thought that Bonnie and Fred of all
couples could move like that or would even think of doing such a dance routine!

(Bonnie and Fred had decided it would be a bigger surprise to dance
like this when they announced their engagement than it would be at their
wedding and they were right!)

When the reaction to Fred and Bonnie’s dance was over and
they had been hugged and kissed and congratulated by everyone in the crowd,
Chris retook the microphone to officially congratulate Fred and Bonnie on their
engagement on behalf of ABC. He also did a brief interview with the happy
couple that let the viewing audience know their plan to get married in six
months. Chris then joked, “Anyone else have an announcement?”

Suzie Q. was nervous about her decision, but she had made up
her mind. She called her three men to the decision room and asked them to
wait outside because she wanted to talk to them one at a time. She asked
Matt the come in first. Matt smiled at Suzie as she took his hand and led
him to a love seat. They sat beside each other, looking like a matched
pair. Their strawberry blonde hair shone in the candlelight. Their
freckles had been perked up by their time in the sun at Disney World and their
blue eyes both were kind. Suzie continued to hold Matt’s hand, while she
told him, “Matt, we have so much in common. You are funny and smart and
quirky. You are like a ray of sunshine whenever we’re together.
Matt, I want you to know this has not been an easy decision for me, but I need
to follow my heart and it is leading me in another direction and I’m so
sorry.”

Matt just nodded and continued smiling, “Suzie, this has been the
greatest experience of my life. I have learned so much and enjoyed every
minute. I want you to be happy and I knew the minute you wanted to speak
to me first that I’d be going home. But you know, I believe that
everything happens for a reason and my Mom called me last night to tell me that
Mary Beth, my High School girl friend who was my one and only true love, came
home last week from California and she’s been asking about me. Ever since
I heard that she’s back, I’ve been torn about the past and the future and I’m
taking this as a sign that maybe the past is the future for me and I don’t need
one of those Time Machines to get there, only my return ticket to Nebraska
courtesy of ABC.” “I do love you, Matt!” “I love you, too,
Suzie!” They hugged each other and shared a friendly kiss and Matt walked
out the door to shake hands with Bob and Brian and wish them luck.

Twilley ended up in the hospital, where they continued to
run tests. Kara was there a great deal of the time, except for Monday night,
she had to be home for the big event. Now
she had been keeping Zack, Preston and Colin on as friends. What had happened
is this- every night before the hurricane, these guys and some of Kara's
friends had gathered in the billiards room ,and some romances had budded. Zack
and Michelle, Colin and Judy, and Preston and Jeannie all had the hots for each
other. Then, as they all helped out at the animal shelter,(you know how a
crisis can bring two people closer), attraction had blossomed into love. Kara
stepped forward at the ceremony and introduced the three new couples. Everyone
was shocked, but happy for the glowing pairs. After the ceremony, Kara had a
brainstorm-in the morning, she would bring her little dog Ruff to the hospital.
Maybe he would cheer Twilley up.When she arrived, Twilley was in a deep sleep.
Kara wandered down the hall, little Ruff in her arms. Now if truth be told,
Ruff was a bit of a spoiled brat. He had been pretty miffed that Kara, who had
been such a homebody, had been gone so much lately. However, he was a little
white angel at the hospital, everyone fell in love with him. That day he
cheered so many people up, Kara decided at once he should become a therapy dog.
When Twilley woke up, just seeing little Ruff seemed to speed his recovery
along.

When Chris Harrison saw that Matt was leaving, he knew that
Suzie Q. was ready for him to come to the decision room. Suzie was
standing at the door and nodded to Chris as he drew near. Chris said,
“Brian, would you please come and talk with Suzie and me.” Brian was
confused. I mean what did Chris have to do with anything? If he was
going in second, however, didn’t that mean he would be the next guy going
home? But Chris was Chris, so of course, Brian entered the decision
room. Suzie was standing by the fireplace with her left hand pressed
against her stomach to suppress the butterflies. She ran to Brian and
gave him a hug and a kiss. Then she held both of his hands in her
own. “Brian?” “Yes, Suzie?” “I love you!” “I love you,
too!” “I’ve tried to open my heart to you in a new way, as more than a
cousin and a friend.” “I know!” “Brian, I’ve learned so much about
myself in the past week and I have to be honest with you. I’m in love with
someone else.”

Brian’s face reflected the blow he had just been
dwelt. It was like he had had the wind knocked out of him. He
crossed to the love seat and sat down. It was the “house of pain” all
over again. Chris stepped forward. He sat down besides Brian.
“Brian, I know this isn’t the outcome you were hoping for and I’m really
sorry. Every single person in America knows what a great guy you are and
how you’ve put your heart on the line twice now. ABC has decided, given
this turn of events, to make you an offer. We’d like you to be the next
Bachelor.”

Now Brian really looked puzzled. “The next
Bachelor? But what about Jason?” Chris explained. “Of course,
Jason is slated to be the next Bachelor, but there’s a good chance he may not
be available. If that happens, America will be thrilled to have you as
the next Bachelor. If Jason is still available to be the Bachelor is
January, we’ll continue and have his show, followed up immediately by your
show. I know you need some time to think about it . . .” “No!”
shouted Brian. “No, I don’t! I’ll be the next Bachelor, whether
it’s to replace Jason or be the Bachelor after Jason. I’d like it to be
my turn to call the shots!” “Oh, I’m so glad!” said Suzie, kneeling in
front Brian and hugging him from the side. “Suzie, I love you so much and
I do want you to be happy!” “I know, Brian! I love you, too, and
you are going to be the Best Bachelor Ever!”

Bob was standing outside the door of the decision room,
clueless as to what was going on and what it meant. Bob had never watched
an episode of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette in his life, so he had no idea
that he had just become the “last man standing.” Brian and Chris came
out. Brian shook Bob’s hand and wished him “Good Luck!” “Thanks!”
said Bob, “Good Luck to you, too!” A minute later Suzie was inviting him
into the decision room. Suzie was wearing a light blue dress that fell to
the floor in a bell shape. Layered over the blue fabric was a lovely
white lace that allowed the blue to show through. Suzie’s strawberry
blonde hair was put up in a neat chignon and she looked beautiful.
“Bob?” “Yes, Suzie Q.?” “Would you come for a ride with me?”
“Anytime!” said Bob emphatically. Suzie led him out through the
garden and to a side gate that led to the driveway. Parked in the
driveway instead of the limo Bob had come to expect, was a sparkling crystal
Cinderella coach. “All right!” said Bob. “I’ve always wanted a ride
in one of those! Suzie, you’re the best date I’ve ever had!” “I
hope so!” replied an amused Suzie who was thinking, Isn’t Bob the cutest guy
ever?

Sara had decided to take a different approach and just
invited all of her Bachelors into the decision room together. Brett and
Eric and Richard all looked at her with hopeful eyes. “OK, guys, I’m
going to try to make this easier with a “game” approach, but before I begin, I
do have to tell you that two of you will be going home tonight and I want all
of you to know that this has been a very hard decision for me, but I know I’m
doing what’s right for me, so I hope you will respect my choice.”

The guys all smiled and nodded and seemed willing to go
along with the game. Sara handed each of her Bachelors a small chalkboard
and a piece of chalk. (She is a
teacher, after all!)
Now, let’s see if you’re smarter than a fifth
grader . . . Ha! . . . only joking! Let’s see Who Knows Sara Best?”
That was when the guys began to sweat it a little. All of Sara’s answers to the
questions had been prerecorded and would be revealed one by one when the men
showed their answers to each question.

“First Question! Where did I go to college?”
Now, that was an easy one. They all knew that she had gone to the
University of Miami, so they each were pleased to gain 1 point. “Second
Question! What is my middle name?” Brett scratched his head.
This was the point where having been traded, he could be at a
disadvantage. Richard and Eric seemed confident of their answers.
Brett wrote down “Marie” which was wrong. That was “strike one” against
him. Three strikes and you’d be out! Richard and Eric both wrote
the right answer which was “Elizabeth.” So now, they each had two
points. “Third Question! What is my favorite color?” They
each had a different answer. Brett said “red.” Eric said
“yellow.” Richard said “green.” “My favorite color is green!
Richard, you get another point!”

Brett looked bummed. He now only had 1 point and two
strikes. Eric had two points and one strike. Richard with three
points and no strikes was grinning from ear to ear! “Fourth
Question! What is my favorite era in History?” All of the guys knew
it was the American Revolution, so they all got a point for that one.
“Question five! What kind of food do I like best? Italian, French,
or Chinese?” Well, that one had split decisions, too! Eric like
Italian food, so he chose that. Brett had a more sophisticated palate, so
he thought Sara would like French. Richard who had the hometown
advantage, knew that Sara liked them all, but that Chinese was her favorite.

After that question, Brett had struck out and had to sit on
the love seat. That left Eric and Richard standing, but now Eric had two
strikes and Richard had a perfect “record!” For several questions in a
row, it looked like no one could lose. Eric and Richard answered each one
correctly. Then came a very important question. “What food will I
not eat at all?” Eric looked stumped. He thought and thought about
everything he knew about Sara and finally wrote down an answer. Richard
had thought about it a moment, came up with an answer and wrote it down.
Eric’s answer was “Rattlesnake!” Richard’s answer was “Duck!” Sara
smiled. When she revealed her prerecorded answer, Richard jumped in the
air with joy! “Duck!” It was the correct answer and Richard had won
the game and he had also won Sara’s heart! Brett and Eric had been
disappointed, but they knew Richard had won fair and square which eased the
hurt for them. They shook hands all around and Brett and Eric said their
goodbyes and left Richard alone with Sara, so he could learn just exactly what
he had won!

Jason and Dakota asked to speak to Chris Harrison. Chris
told them that he got the box and it was waiting in the Decision Room for the
next step. Jason told Dakota he hoped they were both still in this till the
end. They were becoming good friends and felt they had as much in common with
each other as they did with the girls. They both looked very dashing: their
eyes were glowing and their smiles huge as the girls entered the party. They
spent the evening dancing, laughing and the girls filled them in on the dream
situation. They didn't tell them EVERY detail but enough to inspire
"polite " roars of laughter from both Dakota and Jason. Dakota knew
how Penny's and Jenny's minds worked by this time; they worked in tandem, and
so he felt comfortable chiding Jenny. "That's what you get, Jenny, for
spending time on those message boards and watching SNL. You know you could get
caught and ABC would not be happy with that," he said. Jenny told him to
pipe down-she only snuck a peek one day and that because she was checking to
see how all her friends were doing after Ike hit.

After the last song had played it was time for the group to
go let America know what their decisions were. Both Jason and Dakota gave each
other a hug and entered the room with a little fear but also with much hope.
Chris asked Jenny to speak first as it was obvious to everyone she was ready to
blurt it out anyway. Jenny took Jason's hands and looked him fully in the eyes.
"Jason. I never thought I could ever find the love that I am feeling with
you. Your sensitivity, sweetness and ability to love with such depth rocks me
to my soul. The love you have for your son has given me the clarity to see that
you are the one I want to spend my life with. I want you to be the father to
our children. And that includes Ty: what woman wouldn't want to have that
precious little boy to be her own? I know I couldn't replace his mother and I
wouldn't want to, but I do know that I love that child as surely as we're
standing here and I don't want either one of you to live your lives without me
in them! But... we can't just throw ourselves into his life so suddenly. I want
him to get to know me as a friend and then-when it's right-we can all be
together and take it from there. Jason couldn't even speak. He grabbed Jenny
and tearfully whispered, "Jenny, we're in this together till the end-the
end of time. I love you!" That was all he could get out before the
inevitable kiss that brought down the house. Neither Jenny nor Jason could hear
a thing because the pounding of their hearts drowned out all else.

Wow, thought Dakota, how am I gonna follow that one? Chris
asked Penny to step forward. Her hesitancy left Dakota feeling a little shaken,
but then Penny spoke. "Dakota, I came in here thinking I had my mind made
up. But then as I listened to Jenny, it made me realize something. You should
never let something go in your life if you are not sure that you're ready to.
As we've been spending more and more time together I am realizing that I have
placed you in a box and I have not been seeing the big picture. I came here
because I am looking for my soul mate, and not just a play mate. After the last
few times we've been together we've had SO much fun, but I was beginning to
wonder if playmates were all we were to each other. And then I remembered how
great you were with Ty, and how you seem to sense how I am feeling even before
I do. You've put up with my craziness and still want to be with me in spite of
that. Now I realize that being a soul mate includes being playmates, and I
don't want you to get away!! Penny was practically blubbering at this point.
Dakota held her in his arms and could be heard saying,"Don't you
understand, Penny, I don't love you in spite of all the craziness-I love you
BECAUSE of it! You are always just YOU-always who you are and I love that about
you the most! As Dakota and Penny kissed-"fervently"- the crew
brought out a big pink box with with a turquoise bow. And the box was making noises-strange
ones. Jason and Dakota presented their twins with................... twin
chihuahua puppies!!!!!!! Girls of course! Both Jenny and Penny burst into
tears-their favorite dogs in the whole wide world! As the camera shot faded to
black the girls, their guys, and their dogs hugged into oblivion...

After Monday evening, Chris Harrison got on the phone to
Fleiss because he wasn’t quite sure where they stood with the future of the
Bonnet Bachelorettes. Each of the Bonnet girls now seemed to be down to
one guy. Two of them were married and one was officially engaged.
Fleiss, however, took the stand that it’s not over til it’s over.
"After all, we’ve got a ten week contract with these girls, let’s keep
covering them and see how things work out with the girls and the
Bachelors they’ve picked." “Sounds good to me!” said Chris. “Oh, and
Chris,” barked Fleiss, “You better get on the horn to that Loves Romance girl
and find out what happened to her report on Tara and Jerry.” “Ay! Ay!
Sir!” said Chris.

The following report was faxed from Loves romance. The
reporter apologizes for the delay caused by a poorly working phone modem.
(Fax machines are hard to find in Fiji!)

Tara thought this had to be the perfect honeymoon. She
had stubbornly chosen to stay a virgin until their wedding night. Jerry
had relunctantly agreed, but now thought it was worth it. Tara turned out
to be an amazing "student" in the study of lovemaking. Their
beautiful condo included a beach complete with a tall privacy fence. A
hot tub on the deck and the private stretch of sand just added to the
adventurous side of the newlyweds. (This
reporter would love to give details, but fears those details would NEVER make
it past the censors. However microphones hidden in the fence have picked
up many amusing exclamations from the once naive girl, including
"I sure didn't ever think I could get sand there!" and it
is safe to assume she can no longer be given that label.)

They especially enjoyed midnight swims under the
stars. Of course their suits were left behind in the condo. They
found that the water and the moonlight very much enhanced the lessons that
Jerry enthusiastically taught her. Whenthey went out for an incredible
fresh seafood dinner, Tara expressed suprise to the waiter. "I just
don't understand why we never see anyone else in the water after dark. It
is so beautiful and so romantic!" The waiter smiled at the couple
and shook his head thinking,"Tourists!" His voice took on
sincere authority and warned them, "That is probably because of the
sharks. They come much closer to the beach at night."

"Sharks?" Tara shreaked, "Are you
serious?"

"Quite serious," the waiter replied.

Jerry had turned a whiter shade of pale as he pictured
as shark swimming by and snacking on the part of Jerry that would have been
sticking out the furthest. They immediately agreed to restrict after dark
water activities to the hot tub.

The next day was filled with jet skis and parasailing.
They had a fantastic time. They returned to their rooms late in the
afternoon for some "private time" and to get ready for the very
formal party being put on at the resort in their honor. Tara looked
beyond beautiful in a slinky inridescent golden dress. Jerry showed his
tux exactly how to be worn. They entered the party looking like movie
stars.

The party was class inself. Waiters served trays of
tiny appetizers and colorful drinks. Tara fell madly in love with a
fruity tasting drink called Fiji Fireworks. Jerry smiled at the name,
knowing they were far more potent than the wine coolers Tara had loved at
home. He was distracted by other guests bidding for his attention and
didn't notice that Tara drank four in a short amount of time. They had
skipped lunch that day since they'd eaten a fancy brunch at 10 that
morning. Tara had nibbled a cracker or two with caviar but wanted to save
her appetite for the dinner soon to be served. The caviar made her very
thirsty so Jerry obligingly brought her another Fiji Firecracker.

By the time she finished it, he realized they might have a
problem. Since he had awakened her sensuality she responded to the
alcohol by becoming extremely amorous. They were dancing and Tara began
to make some very provocative moves. Her dress was slit up the side and
she took full advantage of the open space as she curled her leg around him and stroked
his behind with one foot. Then she strattled him Dirty Dancing
style. When he stopped moving to try and settle her down, she wrapped
herself around him and gave him a passionate kiss. Her hands began to roam
dowward so Jerry grabbed them. Tara threw back her head and shook her
hair. In a very loud voice she described exactly what she was in the mood
for. Of course, every single person at the party were staring at
them. Jerry had know idea he could blush so furiously. He loudly
apologized to the crowd and tried to explain that his bride did not hold her
liquor at all well. Tara protested and tried to again draw hes head down
into a kiss. Unfortunately, her stomach chose that moment to dislodge as
much alcohol as possible. She threw up magnificently all over Jerry's
tux. He sighed and picked her up, heedless of his dripping tux. As
he carried her back to their condo he exclamed. "Tara I am madly in
love with you, but one thing is for sure. you have had your last
drink!" Tara didn't reply. As usual, she had fallen deeply
asleep.

There's your report for tonight! I'm sure the
honeymooners will have a wonderful time on the rest of their trip, after Tara
recovers from her hangover!
