This is my least favorite thing on the show ..... just let them all dance and get on with the bootings already.

I second that agreement. To have something so game-changing as immunity be based on dances that are not comparable, with scores based on different levels of severity, just seems wrong. Then, forcing people who LIKE each other to compete directly head-to-head is just plain mean.
I HATE it.

Re: Week 8, Season 23, Halloween
You would think they could come up with something more entertaining than this tired old idea. The couple who get immunity likely won't need it anyway so what's the point?
But here's a what if: What if Terra isn't getting the votes and TPTB don't want her gone? Then immunity would follow the script. I picked Terra because Bing had her in danger last week. Probably nothing so conniving, just musing.

Re: Week 8, Season 23, Halloween
I know he has been busy as a pro this season, but I think we need to see Sasha the Prankster make a return!
Sasha does most pranks, but it may have been Witney trying to scare Alfonso at the end.
Leah's reaction was hilarious!
Now for something completely different. A Halloween-themed opening number from Season 3 of NBC's The Sing-Off in 2011. The Sing-Off was an acapella group competition, so this Halloween Medley featured the members of the remaining teams on Week 7--still a large number of singers to handle. I imagine it was a challenge for the sound department to hook up all the singers--note that everyone was holding mikes. Seen in this number are members of the group that would ultimately win Season 3--Pentatonix.

Re: Week 8, Season 23, Halloween
If the face-off challenge helps to boot Ryan faster I'm all for it. Unfortunately the dances selected will also be very difficult for Terra--her short legs make the very fast dances extremely challenging. I hope that she doesn't get jive. Immunity will probably go to Jana (showstopping jazz) or to James (gorgeously fluid waltz). Laurie and Calvin should do well in the face-offs.

Re: Week 8, Season 23, Halloween
Common opinions on other DWTS forums thinks Jana will get immunity. Having jazz is very good for Jana and Gleb. I always think the judges don't know how to correctly score those intuitive dances like jazz and contemporary and they tend to over score them.
This may be a bit of tinkering by the producers IF Jana isn't getting sufficient votes. I think the show wants these two to stay a while as they are the "sexy couple" and generated some controversy. I don't mind really because I would rather watch Jana and Gleb dance on rather than Ryan or Marilu.
We shall see.

That "Little Shop of Horrors" "jazz" song is more like Hip-hop, isn't it?

Re: Week 8, Season 23, Halloween
Agree with you Lesalle. Jazz allows the pro to be free from the restrictions against lifts and having to dance on hold. Calvin, James, and Laurie were all stuck with traditional ballroom dances. Jazz also allows for a very theatrical set design. I wouldn't consider Little Shop of Horrors hip-hop-- it is closer to the energetic and somewhat corny (collins) music of musicals such as Hairspray and Grease. If Gleb does a decent staging and Jana doesn't make any big mistakes of synchronization, she should easily get the top score.

Re: Week 8, Season 23, Halloween
I am quite looking forward to see what Gleb does with that dance. I think he is underrated by DWTS viewers. A lot of them see this very good looking man and think that's all there is to him. I watched him on Strictly last season and the man can hold his own with anyone choreography wise.

Re: Week 8, Season 23, Halloween
I watched the video from TMZ and it's so sad. HOWEVER, Courtney from Pure said that according to her source Sharna was at Sunday's camera blocking and seemed to be moving fine. Unless something last minute happened, we will have to see if TPTB are totally playing this up for drama or not.

Re: Week 8, Season 23, Halloween
Sister, I'm so glad you're back in the bosom of your Chongie family! We are incomplete without you.
If Sharna has decided to sit tonight out and give her leg a bit more healing time this may be the right point in the comp to do it. I don't think James is any kind of peril tonight. So coming back strong, all guns blazing next week should work out fine.
Jenna is a good ballroom dancer and James is too, besides being a quick study and you know Sharna's creative hand will be all over the dance. I am optimistic.

I'm having the same problem as Kincaid but it happens more in the day. It's not so bad at night. I guess this means there needs to be more security on here.

Re: Week 8, Season 23, Halloween
You bring up a good point Lesallee. I had wanted to see James and Sharna do a waltz together, so if Sharna does sit out tonight I'll be disappointed for that. But it does make sense that resting her knee for another week would be good for her too.

Re: Week 8, Season 23, Halloween
Very good point sis....they said she was bowing out for tonight and 'may' be out the rest of the season, that her doctors now want her off of it 3-6 weeks, but I do see that maybe happening , Sharna coming back.......so that might be the strategy......sue said that someone from Pure said she was moving fine at camera blocking....sooooo we shall see.
Had to give it a try sis......I was going crazy, but I have watched the show.
