It seems Bachelor Ben decided to throw his hat into the political ring but ABC put the boot to that. He was forced to drop out as ABC did not want any political dirt attached to the franchise. It would have cost Ben mega bucks  to go ahead as ABC would reclaim all the Bach money he has gotten and no Bachelor wedding for Ben and Lauren. I guess these people sell their soul to the devil when they go on these shows.

Yes they do sell their soul to the devil when they sign that contract.  I think they are held to it for at least 2 years after the show has aired.  I think that is what Sean had said in an interview.  It also seems that the books tend to come out after that 2 year time frame has expired.
