As a new pro, apparently you have to prove yourself. The better you are, the sooner you get a so called contender- not to use the "R"-word. Best example: Witney and Alfonso. Let's also not forget the other side of the medal.
Though Keo is a very good dancer and he isn't getting any contenders. I feel he is as good a dancer as Witney or better.
Keo may be a good dancer but maybe he isn't very good at the teaching part.

Keo: Bruno basically told him he has to up his coaching game with Chaka. Last season, Len told him the same thing a couple of times. Keo is a wonderful dancer but as with Allison, teaching doesn't seem to be his forte.

I think Keo can help Chaka only so far. He certainly doesn't have a chance of winning with her.

No need to argue that Chaka isn't a potential winner. But being partnered with Tony or Artem could easily make a few weeks more on the show for her. So far Keo has shown nothing that would promise he could go further with a better partner. It's true Allison had a rocky start as well, but imo she redeemed herself with the Tango and Jazz for Jonathan; so the following season she got Ryker. As for Witney, the producers probably realized what a treasure she is when they saw her pull out the best of Drew Carey, so this newbie got her chance with Alfonso and took it. Keo is great when working with other pros, but it seems he cannot adapt himself to amateurs. Look at Charlotte. Do you think Derek or Maks would have let her get away with checking her phone during rehearsals? I had great expectations for Keo when he joined the show, but to my regret he turned out to be a lame duck. I'm sorry for Chaka. She may be over 60, but still in better condition than Kirstie Alley has ever been. Now guess what makes the difference.

I guess it's partly a matter of opinion. I'm not a big Witney fan. There is just something about her that rubs me the wrong way. I like Keo's personality much better and I think he has more charisma as a dancer. I wouldn't go so far as to call Keo a lame duck even if he may not be the best dancing coach. Maybe he would need more time. As far as the phone incident with Charlotte, he may be too much of a soft touch.

All of that may be true, but it still doesn't explain why Karina or Louis or Anna got weak partners. Surely all of those pros have proven themselves.

I was so glad to see some pro's return to the show ... then disappointed to see who they are partnered with.I hope we will at least see them in some pro dances ....

At least Gary Busey has the excuse of traumatic brain injury. Paula Dean is one foul mouthed woman and has no excuse. Bindy is as cute as can be and I cannot wait to see more of her. Karina isn't always seen as sympathetic and I think that this is her chance to do some research on how to coach someone with memory issues to come out as warm and caring and to really make a difference in Victor's life.

Interesting,Victor has a brain issue also,I wonder if he should be on the show.It can be dangerous at times.I don't know much about Paula,seems to be a big hate on for her and Gary if what I read is true.

I think they may be some of the first to go,I think they are among the group of non-contenders this season.

I think Victor's issue is that he has a problem with short-term memory. He said concussions are common with jockeys. He did win the Triple Crown this year. It would probably only affect his ability to remember the dance routines.

Glitters, you like Keo, I like Witney. No problem. I think we can consider our sexual preferences to be average.

That's not necessarily a contradiction. They are returning pros, but all have numerous seasons with a share of contenders behind them. If you like, they have all reached the next level. They are popular themselves (like Kym, Cheryl, Tony, Maks, etc.), experienced, and can be expected to work with what they are given. Peta made it there with Tommy Chong (someone you could certainly call a weak partner); Sharna with Noah Galloway. If the partnership works and resonates with the viewers, miracles can happen. Bill Engval and a few others would probably confirm it.

That could be true -- she was funny with Drew -- but I think before that, Witney attracted a fan base with her part in Corbin's Jazz trio, and that she got Alfonso because of her jazz and tap (and height and personality, of course!). She was a perfect fit for his dancing style.

You are probably spot on about Witney, Psychee. I believe Witney was, and still is, the only pro, teaching or troupe, with tap experience. So when DWTS cast Alfonso Witney was a natural partner for him. It certainly worked out well.

And it could work out well again this season! There were moments in that Jive where I thought Carlos looked like a younger version of Alfonso. Psychee is right, of course: Corbin's Jazz trio was fabulous- I think we both have it on our list of all time favorites. Karina really opened a door for Witney then.

Everyone did really good last night. No clear cut winners or even finalists IMO.
Some say their faves have no competition at this point.............no surprise what team thread that was said on.!!!!...................don't count your 1st,2nd,3rd,4th 5th or even 6th MB until it is in your hands!

Sad to see Victor and Karina go. I know they had some limitations, but I wanted to see what else they could do if they were given the chance. At least they went out on a good note with their Rumba.

Absolutely. It has turned out to be one of these rare seasons you can feel sorry for anyone who has to leave. For the star, for the pro, and this time in most cases : both.
