And now our lives are complete: Ashley I. has a gig recapping BIP for Cosmopolitan magazine

I'd like to thank Cosmopolitan.com for giving me the platform to breakdown [Editor's n8ote: break down, get it?!] each episode of Bachelor in Paradise, and attempt to clarify my tear-filled confessionals and all the other drama I packed for Paradise in addition to my suitcase full of makeup (that's a true fact from last night's Paradise After Show).
Let me start by explain why my sister Lauren came to Paradise with me, because it wasn't quite as simple as her just climbing into my suitcase. Remember the comedy club group date during Kaitlyn's season ofThe Bachelorette? I was there in the audience, and so was my sister Lauren — she got to meet some of the behind-the-scenes members of the Bachelor family. Just like I do, she started divulging all the messy details of her love life to the producers; I thought she would be hilarious and would make a great addition to the show's cast. As Chris Harrison put it on our arrival, I'm the virgin and she's the "not a virgin." As he also put it, we're a "package deal," meaning only one of us needs to get a rose from a guy each week, and we both get to stick around. I liked those odds.
Prior to walking out onto the beach together, I was a bit worried how the cast would receive Lauren (and yes, there were a few snarky comments) but I knew at least my friends Carly and Jade would get a kick out of her. But then I stopped thinking about her and basically everything other than my Jared, the Prince Aladdin to my Jasmine, as soon as my toes hit the sand. I definitely wasn't completely sold on him based on the first couple of episodes of Kaitlyn's season of The Bachelorette, but in person? Different story. Obviously Lauren made a strong impression on Mikey T right away, and they really were getting better acquainted in the ocean before everyone else had even arrived. He's not her type, but he certainly put himself out there.
And as Chris Harrison explained when he showed up to get things started officially, the guys had all the power (and the roses) in the first week, so every connection helps.
With Chris then switching it up from host to officiant, we all got to watch former contestants Lacey and Marcus (who met and got engaged on last year's Bachelor in Paradise) get married. No pressure on us, then! After their beautiful ceremony, we single ladies went up to our room for some girl talk — aka calling dibs on the men. Lauren immediately put it out there: "OK, obviously everyone is into Jared." There were crickets! I thought that maybe they were being shy or secretive, but apparently some girls had their eyes set on the other guys. Ashley S. was into Hugh Jackman look-a-like Dan, Carly was already smitten with Kirk, Juelia was bonding with fellow parent Jonathan, and Jade was eyeballing Tanner.
Even knowing that, I did have a moment of being drunk in love and jealousy when Jade was talking to Jared on the beach that first night. Rarely do I develop fast feelings for a guy, and it's a big deal for me when it happens. So when I saw Jared taking a liking to Jade, I lost it a bit. I have a tendency to do that, I suppose.
Moving on, let's talk about how freaking cute Carly and Kirk are. They really did get together quickly, and it was so wonderful to see Carly glow when she spoke about Kirk — it's a side of snarky Carly I'd never seen. She was singing love songs all the time.
The morning of our very first full day in Paradise, I received a date card — the first date card. Part of me was excited to have the first pick, but it would have been a lot more fun had Jared shown a bit more interest in me the night before (and they didn't show this on the episode, but we did talk a bunch before my crush-induced brain freeze happened).
His body language that morning made picking him even harder for me, and it was hard to watch everyone comment on how they thought he would turn me down — even after Lauren and I strategized on how I should ask him. But watching her and me figure out how to present the date card was one of my favorite parts of the episode. I think this moment was really relatable to a lot of girls in their 20s. Not everyone has date cards to hand out to their crushes, but they do have texts to send.
Jared and I had an awesome date off-roading though. Were fireworks going off? No. Was the chemistry of the charts? Not really. But we definitely formed a good friendship, and that was a fine start for me; I thought we'd have a lot of time to develop things further. There were massive amounts of immediate chemistry on Tanner and Jade's date later that day — after their candlelit dinner, they had a romantic moment in the middle of a river. I kept telling them on the show that they were the ultimate all-American couple, and comparing them to Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, not knowing that back home in America Bennifer were breaking up. (Take a pause to shed tears with me, no, really.)
"Hurricane Clare" also made her dramatic entrance that night. I remembered how great she was during last year's Bachelor in Paradise. She really didn't want to interfere with any budding relationships and I really appreciated the way she asked us girls who we were feeling before decided on whom to take on her date. Oh, and she also asked that crab.
So, about Mikey T. He's a super sweet beef heart, which is a term I think the cast created specifically for him. Even after his flirt fest with my sister, he wasn't having much luck with the ladies this week and he's getting a bad rap right now. He was either in denial or totally oblivious to Clare's lack of interest, even during their tantric yoga date. We're all guilty of this at some point or another; Mikey T means well, there's just not a girl in Paradise for him yet.
Dan and Ashley S. made me swoon so hard in this episode. Dan accompanied a very dehydrated and food-poisoned Ashley to the E.R. on the first night, and that demonstrated just how chivalrous and caring he is to all of us. In Paradise, some of us girls would schedule "Dan Chats." This was a time for Dan to listen to us voice concerns and he could give us loving, brotherly advice. Dan and Ashley's date was cute too — normal, even! He might just be the guy who can dial down her kooky.
Later that night, there was Tenley stressing because she hadn't made a connection — and in Paradise, no connection means no rose, and no rose means a ticket home. So she made a play for Jared's attention, with a walk along the beach, and look, here's me, see me going all T-Swift's nightmare-dressed-like-a daydream again. The thing is, in that moment, I'm already doubting how "solid" Jared is, and I'm emotional and convinced I'm going to die alone ... and worried about "old ladies" stealing my man. It happened, but look, I do not think 31 is old. I don't even think 51 is old! I was simply regurgitating old memories of a cougar who'd won the affections of a cub I had feelings for. I saw it happening again and I said things, crazy things. Can't we all admit we've trash-talked girls who flirt with (or date!) our crushes? I love Tenley. She's beautiful, youthful, and remarkably kindhearted — Lauren's my little sister, and Tenley served as my big sis in Paradise. I appreciate her so much.
Obviously all that drama left me really nervous going into the first cocktail party and rose ceremony. And I was shocked to see Jared tell Clare that he wanted to give her his rose — I had no idea this happened until I saw it yesterday! It's so weird not to know certain things until you see your life play out on TV. I loved how gutsy Tenley was with JJ. Asking for a kiss to test out any chemistry? That is a move to remember, ladies.
And it worked! JJ picked Tenley to stay and left Jillian without a rose. I know JJ chose Tenley because of that kiss, but also because he wanted her to have a chance at love — we all wanted someone so romantically hopeful like Tenley in Paradise. I haven't mentioned Jillian until now because she didn't play a huge role in this episode, even after the boob job she'd gone and gotten for the show. She became good friends with the boys and may have bro-zoned herself; they all loved her company but didn't necessarily feel romance with her. If anyone has advice for how to prevent this, I know Jillian would be open to hearing it.
Next week, let's just say there's a lot of testosterone happening. You'll want to stay tuned.

Thanks for posting this article, Grammarianna. Very interesting to see her style of writing, given the job title under her name on the Bachelor was Freelance Journalist.

Well I sort of figured she was on this show to become another Kardashian in the reality world sphere. It is interesting to see her try to explain her emotions. Thanks for posting! Did anyone else think that she seems to be setting things up that Jared is not the Knight everyone thinks he is? That he might play around a bit? Or maybe that she is mad about how he treated things with her?

If you noticed, any conversation Ashley I. has is all about her...her feelings, emotions, likes, dislikes, etc. I only heard her ask Jared one question about himself and that was if he was still in love with Kaitlyn. Reading her article for Cosmo is more of the same...me, me, me ME, and more MEEEEE! No guy wants a girl who can only talk about herself.

I had a feeling that her sister Lauren had met producers before hand and they wanted to cast her on something for the drama she might bring. Also made me wonder if she had slept with one.
All I can say about this article by Ashley is at least it answered the question of why Ashley S. was taken to the hospital. Other than that...eh...

Thrilled that Lauren left and is returning to her former life as someone's "mistress."
