I'm not able to pull up the video but I looked at the bio's. I'm assuming that this season of blood versus water is all new people and not like last time...previous contestants with their loved ones?

rkc didn't the link above work for you?  I just brought it up again it worked fine for me.  It's got a video of all of them and then individual videos of each pair.  The only ones I recognized were the twins and that was from their appearance on the Amazing Race.

Here is also the link to tvgrapevines article on the Survivor:

Survivor 29 Blood vs Water (2014) Survivor_logo_leadSurvivor: Blood vs Water:
Recap For September 24, 2014

By honeySC

This season of Survivor San Juan Del Sur is repeating the theme of the previous season, Blood vs Water and the teams are father-daughter, couples, brother-sister, sister-sister, and all have left behind the comfort and safety of their known world for thirty-nine days to test their survival skills and lay it all on the line to try to win the title of sole survivor.

Keith and Wes share a love of the outdoors, while father and daughter struggle to put a relationship back together.  Twin sisters, Natalie and Nadiya, twice losers on the Amazing Race put their skills to the ultimate test.  Wes and Keith tell about losing their striker and then breaking their flint.

The duos must select a buff that determines their side and they split up to join rival tribes.  Keith recognizes the ball player in the group.

They must play in their first reward challenge. One person from each tribe will run through an obstacle course to get a rope that will be used to gather a box. Jeremy goes against his wife in the first twist of the game. Jeff says that the couple that talked the most trash about each other gets to compete against each other.  They will get fire and food.  The bad news is the loser goes to Exile Island where they will have no shelter and very little food, and lose in the opportunity to do the early bonding with their tribe.  They will return before the first immunity challenge.
Val and Jeremy both fly through the challenge and are evenly matched.  Jeremy gets ahead when the platform gets the better of Val and Jeremy tries to hook his platform to pull to his mat.  He gets his first platform and then has to get more rope and ring to get his second platform.  Jeffery gets his second platform hooked, but Val gets her first in and as Jeremy loses his second platform's hook, Val makes a valiant effort to catch up.  She gets hers hooked, but Jeremy hauls his platform in.  Jeremy has shown his worth to his tribe, but the cost is sending his wife to Exile Island.  He gets beans and flint for his tribe.  Jeremy has to send one member of his tribe to join his wife, and he sends Keith and tells him that he knows he can make fire and thinks he will be able to take care of his wife.  They get a map to the island. Jeremy says that his worst nightmare was to do this to his wife, and now she is gone.  He is very emotional.

Jeremy goes looking for a group of five and the ladies are impressed with the emotional side of him.  He sees a group of nine and says that they need a solid five to keep strong.  Natalie is quick to join him.

Wes and Baylor are quick to bond.  Dale says that he is twenty-five years older than anyone on his tribe and another setback is that as a solitary farmer he is not used to being in large social groups.  Dale says that he started fires with a magnifying glass when he was a kid and when his glasses aren't successful he breaks them in two to double the lenses and thereby double the magnification.  He gets a fire going and wins the respect of his tribe.

Val says that Exile Island sucks.  It looks unliveable and Keith and Val go looing for a shelter.  They find clay urns which have scrolls inside and read the contents.  Val's is a clue to the hidden immunity idol.  When Keith's paper is empty, he asks Val's what hers says and she hems a bit and then tells him that it is stuff back at camp. Keith accepts that and when he finds out that Jeremy is a fire fighter, he perks up, thinking that it might be good for him to have an ally with that skill set.

Hunahpu tribe begins their shelter and they decide to build it off the ground. They have rope. Drew feels that he has to take charge of the shelter build, but the ladies aren't as impressed with him as he is with himself.

Wes recognizes John as the former Braves player and when John doesn't admit to being the player, he tells him that he was a big fan of the game back in the day. John admits to Wes who he is, but worries that his secret may not be safe with the young kid.  He thinks that he might move on trying to take him out if the situation arises.

Three days in Josh's eyes start to tear up and he develops a rash that the tribe thinks may have originated from the leaves they roofed their shelter with.  They spend a lot of time removing the possibly offending leaves and replace it with palm leaves.
One surivor has not shared with the group that his father has stage three cancer. He worries about being apart from him, but his father wants him to have the opportunity.

It is time for the immunity challenge an Val and Keith return.  Val says that there is no foliage and very little sleep, but she got to know Keith. The challenge has the two tribes competing by racing under bstacles and past each other as they move through a maze and then one tribe mate climbs on top of another to untie a bag, then another, then a third.  They get a ring on a rope that must be launched between two hooks and that will secure it. Orange gets ahead quickly when they get the hook up on the first try.  They quickly get up the ropes and then the pegs, but when it comes to getting up the wall with support only from each other, it goes slower until John becomes the human ladder and lets others climb him.  Orange leads and although Blue works quickly, Orange leads.  When Blue thinks that they found the puzzle key, they win immunity and the idol.  This is Jeremy's tribe.

Missy says that it is tough to know you are safe, but your daughter isn't.  She says that she is strong and will make it through.  Natalie misses Nadiya and Dale worries that he may go home, even though he is the only one who can make fire.

Keith is happy to rejoin his tribe and hopes that he can slip in.  He is just now figuring out the names.  Jeremy says that he owes Keith and he says that he pulled him out and he will get him back in.  Keith says that the fire fighters are a brotherhood and he says that he will figure it out in a day or two.

Val rejoins her Coyopa tribe and she finds out where the water well is and heads there to look for the idol.  Nadiya is known by Dale to be a backstabber on the Amazing Race and he says that he would rather backstab her before she backstabs them.

Nadiya wants to work with Josh, and makes a big faux paux when she tells him that she knows that he is the "girl."  That upsets him, but he keeps it to himself. Nadiya, Val, and Baylor join hands to work together.  Baylor tells Josh that the girls want to take Dale out.  Josh has to figure out which group will get him further in the game.  He sees himself as the swing vote and feels that can be a bad position.

It is night three and time for the first tribal council.  Jeff reminds everyone to select a torch and dip it in to get fire, as it represents your life in the game.

John says that it is tough and there is no obvious choice of an obnoxious or lazy person to put out.  Nadiya says that there is no obvious choice and there are things to look at.  Josh says that you have to keep a positive spirit.  Nadiya says that on Amazing Race they give you directions on what to do and here you get an island and you make it what you make it. Jaclyn says that the guys bonded right away.  Jeff asks Dale about his place in the tribe and being older can get you voted out.  He says that he worked to prove his worth to the tribe.  He says that it was important and it filled a huge need.  Nadiya says that both the women and men like Josh and he fills a spot in the middle.  It is time to vote.

Jeff asks if anyone has the hidden immunity idol and no one presents it.

The votes:
Nadiya, Dale, Baylor, Dale, Nadiya, Dale, Nadiya, Nadiya, Nadiya.  Nadiya is the first person voted out of Survivor San Juan Del Sur.  Her tribe is extinguished and she is sent out of the tribe.

Join Surivor next Wednesday on CBS at 8 PM eastern where next week one tribe loses a member.  Nadiya is surprised to be out, but she thinks that it might be her background with Amazing Race.  She has big hopes for her sister.

Well, we got through one episode without anyone being completely obnoxious and nasty.  Looking good for the season.

For some reason, I like the hillbilly guy who went to exile.  Too little exposure this early in to decide who I'm rooting for.

RECAP FOR WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 1, 2014

By honeySC

Tonight on Survivor San Juan Del Sur, a reward challenge is the opportunity to secure food, but is used instead to replace the most valuable survival tool.  A loved one heads to Exile Island, John Rocker's controversial past is exposed putting his game at risk, and Natalie learns of her sister's elimination from the tribe.

Josh admits to Baylor that he voted for her at tribal council in a game move because he did not want the guys to know that they were close.  Baylor feels it was smart, but also sketchy that he didn't tell her ahead of time.  She hopes she can trust him.

Jon and Drew are showing off regarding their physical skills, doing push ups and lifting logs.  Jeremy knows that the girls can't stand him, and his feelings are echoed when the girls pay them no attention.  When Kelley can't find the flint, Jon admits that he lost the flint in the fire. The two are not off to a great start with their tribe.

Jeff calls the tribes to a challenge and Natalie learns that Nadiya was voted out.  Natalie admits that this is one of the first times she has been without her sister, and as she tears up she says that she has not cried in ten years.  She says that she and her sister have been together for twenty-eight years, and it will be hard to be alone.
Survivor 29 Blood vs Water (2014) Oct1_survivor_reward

Each tribe will maneuver a ball on a paddle connected to a bar through an obstacle course where they duck under poles to a table. They then must roll the ball and two more up a ramp to an hole that will capture it.  The winning tribe will win fishing equipment and sending the loser to Exile Island. John Rocker takes on girlfriend Julie and she easily outmaneuvers him to win the competition. Julie gets to send a member of her tribe to be with John and she sends Jeremy the fire fighter to join him.

Jon asks Jeff if it is possible to negotiate a new flint.  He tells him that they lost their flint and want to trade the beans for a new one.  Jeff explains that his life is fine, and they didn't come in before winning to ask, but tried to leverage their win by giving up the least valuable item.  They decide to work to keep the fire going and Jeff tells them that the price of the flint will be more expensive later.  He proposes giving up the entire reward for a flint and after some discussion, they agree that they must have flint to survive.  The tribe walks away without their reward, but with a new flint waiting for them at camp. Jeff is amazed that the tribe with two fire fighters lost their most important survival item.

Back at camp Julie is congratulated and they are happy to get their flint.  Natalie is in tears and they are amazed to see the tough girl crying.  Natalie says that this is good motivation for her to keep her head in the game and go as far as she can.

Dale talks about the incident with John Rocker and how he was ostracized from baseball after making controversial remarks after Rocker's past was brought up.  On Exile Island, Jeremy remembers the incidents that John Rocker was involved in and how he made comments against homosexuals and black people, and he says that he doesn't know that he is a racist but these statements will follow him for the rest of his life.  Jeremy tells John that if he takes care of Val, he will take care of him when the opportunity presents itself.

Jeff calls the tribes to the immunity challenge and John and Jeremy return to compete in it.  It is a water challenge.  They are going to square off, Sumo style with a padded bat to knock each other into the water.  Julie sits out as her tribe has an extra person.

Survivor 29 Blood vs Water (2014) Oct1_survivor_immunity

Kelley takes on Jaclyn and Kelley quickly knocks Jaclyn into the water.  Alec takes on Drew and little brother has big brother on the move.  Drew, however, defeats his little brother as Alec heads into the drink. Jeremy takes on Wes and Huyopa scores again to be ahead two-one.  Natalie takes on Val and Val moves her, but Natalie gets her into the drink and it is now tied two-two.  John goes against Jon and Rocker takes on Jon with both of them battling hard.  Jon is nimble and works to get Rocker into the water.  He succeeds.  Next Missy takes on Baylor and Missy hits Baylor hard in the face.  Baylor says she is okay, but they ask her if she needs medical and Missy is clearly upset.  With one swift move, Baylor is back in the game and knocks her mom overboard.  Next is Josh and Reid and Reid gets him fast.  Now it is Keith vs Dale and they call it the clash of the old guys.  Dale has one on Keith, but Keith gets back up, and he quickly gets knocked into the water by Dale.  It is now four-four.  It is now Kelley vs Jaclyn and Dale says that he won't watch.  It is Kelley's birthday and he has to root for Jaclyn.  Kelley has Jaclyn on the edg and she gets Jaclyn over the edge.  You see Dale with mixed emotions.  He is now at risk, but his daughter is safe.

Coyopa heads to Tribal Council for the second time. Dale says that he couldn't have been prouder of anyone than he was of Kelley and when her tribe was down she gave them the win.  Val is concerned that she does not have the idol and tries to play it like she has it.  Rocker goes on a hunt for the dol and locates it.  He puts it around his neck and says that he will wear it with pride.  John lets the others know that it should be three votes Val and three Baylor.  He then tells Val that he and Jeremy have an agreement to watch out for each other's women and he tells Val to get her girls to vote out Baylor and she will go home.  When Josh sees them together he is concerned that they might have something going.

At Tribal Council Baylor says that Val has it in for her.  Val says that she came back from the island and was told to vote out Dale.  Baylor tries to get out of it, but it still rankles within the tribe.  Wes brings up that he heard that Val has found two idols and Jeff asks her if she feels there will be votes against her. She thinks there will be.  Jeff sends them to vote and then asks if anyone wants to play an immunity idol.  No one does.

Survivor 29 Blood vs Water (2014) Oct1_val_banishedThe votes:
Val, Baylor, Val, Baylor, Val, Baylor, Baylor, Val.  They are tied at four, four. A tie breaker is announced and only the two of them can be voted against. There is a revote.  During the voting Rocker says that he told her to play her idol, and now he is going to look like a liar to her husband. He votes Val out this time.

The votes:
Baylor, Val, Val, Val, Val.  Val is the second person voted out of Blood vs Water.  Jeff tells them that they are going to have to change something up quickly or they will be voted out one at a time.  He sends them back to camp.

Next week:
After learning that his wife has been eliminated from the game, Jeremy tells others that John Rocker has said a bunch of racist things, and the tribe erupts as they hear the information.

Val Speaks:
Val believes that it will be a shock to Jeremy to see her gone, but he will be inspired to play even harder.  She says that she made some big moves early in the game and she is happy with the game she played.

I had to ffwd through the battering ram challenge.  That kind of physical conflict makes me extremely uncomfortable.  I hope they don't continue this type of physicality in upcoming weeks.

I haven't found a favorite.  Still too many to choose from with too little personal time yet.  I guess Jon is the chosen a**hole for the season.  Does this mean he'll linger long after we want him gone?

Is anyone else actually watching?  Or is it just me?

Yes singly I am watching and I thought that rkc was too but I'm not sure about her.  I think that John Rocker was probably an a**hole at least when he was playing pro baseball.  His reputation then seems to follow him around - there are more than one of the players that knew of him and what he was like.

I must have missed something along the way because I was confused about Val supposedly having 2 idols.  I know she couldn't have had 2 idols but did she even have one?  I thought she looked for it when she came back from Exile Island but I don't remember if she found it or not, I didn't think she did.  I do think that Jeremy will be going after Julie now that Val got voted off though.

Val never had an Idol.  She lied.  And when Jon told her she'd need to play it, she kept her mouth shut instead of telling the truth.

I can't even remember who Jeremy and Julie are.  LOL

Yeah, I'm watching. It's had a little of a slow start for me. I too don't have a favorite but I certainly hope that the younger crowd doesn't get together and vote out the farmer. He broke his glasses to get them fire and they seem to have quickly forgotten it. Reminds me of Big Brother this year.

I don't watch baseball so I didn't know anything about John Rocker. He seems like a real ass but I kind of don't think it's fair that he will apparently be taking flack from Val's husband because he's pissed that she is gone. That is her own fault. Some times it works in your favor to lie about having an idol but she went overboard saying she had two.

I agree singly about the violence of some of these challenges. Two people got hurt that we know of in that water challenge. They did that same challenge last season and they also did that one where they had to forcibly and sometimes violently pull people across a line. I remember watching that and thinking someone was going to get hurt.

I agree with all you said, rkc.  I like the two older guys.  And despite tv's craze for stupid rednecks, I find I'm liking the hillbilly dad.

I'm not fan of any sport, but they've done some talking about Rocker.  Seems he's always been a nasty guy.  But, like you, I understand why Val is gone.  He was working with her and she didn't tell him the truth.

It's either my flagging memory or it's just too soon, but I can't remember who's on which tribe.  Can't even remember their names.  Oh, this is bad.  But wait... I think I figured out SLA's reference to Jeremy and Julie.  Jeremy is Val's husband, and Julie is John's girlfriend.  Yay!  I remembered something!

I don't like violence at all.  I find my stomach begin to tighten up, waiting for someone to get hurt.  That's when I do the 30-second ffwd.  Keep punching it until the conflict is over.

Yeah, I like the other older guy too. Unfortunately the younger crowd think of the older ones as a liability or an outcast. Dang, they're the ones that have the knowledge and experience that these young whippersnappers don't have.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that didn't remember who Jeremy and Julie were. LOL. These people are not standing out in my head yet.

The reason I remembered the Jeremy/Julie thing is because of the exile island time with John Rocker and Jeremy and what Jeremy had said about John watching out for Val's back.  I don't know why Val didn't tell John she didn't have the idol either - he must have thought there were more than one that early in the game being as he had found the one from the clue that Jeremy had gotten on exile island.  I wonder if John would have given it to Val had she told him the truth?   Confused

Kudos, SLA, for remembering their names.

The whole idea was to split the vote and send Baylor home.  John TOLD her they were going to write down her name, assuming she'd have the idol to save herself.  Dummy didn't speak up.  If she had, she'd still be there.

Yeah, that was weird. I guess she was cocky enough to believe that they wouldn't waste a vote on her if she supposedly had an idol. I guess she made a big miscalculation on that.

Guess she didn't know that they will try to get people to use their idol and the way to do that is to write their names down for elimination.  She made her mistake by telling them she had the idol in the first place when she didn't.  Well now she knows ~ I hope she is smarter and better in her job as a policeman than she was on Survivor. I suppose the hostility starts now.  Darn.  I was hoping we could get through a season without this kind of BS.  I'd guess this means Jeremy will tell the others John had Val eliminated because she's black.

Smack talk is never attractive.  It's why I was glad Corrine got eliminated on Project Runway.  If her head had gotten any bigger, it would have exploded.

Any time the race card is brought up it definitely starts to turn ugly. I'm not for that kind of animosity. Rocker may have said some things in the past and he may very well still feel that way BUT he tried to help Val and she chose to play the game stupid. For the husband to turn on him and bring up the race card is just plain spitefulness. Play the game smart and beat him that way if you want but don't start playing politics and get others all riled up over issues that have nothing to do with the game.

Survivor 29 Blood vs Water (2014) Empty Re: Survivor 29 Blood vs Water (2014)

Rkc, the stuff about John Rocker was brought up before, I believe the 1st night and it was brought up by one of the older gentlemen.  It was either Wes Nale, the Fire Captain or the farmer, Dale Wentworth, that brought it up and which ever one it was said that John was a real a$$ when he was playing pro baseball with the Atlanta Braves.  So Jeremy was not the first the bring it up and I don't know what talk has gone on that we have not be shown, but when Jeff Probst was introducing them in the show preview video he said that John Rocker came in with a lot of baggage from his outlook on life. Confused  Not sure what that was all about either. Question  What Jeremy had said on his PI on exile island was that if Val was eliminated he would go after Julie in retaliation so I don't know what all this other stuff is about that was shown in the previews.  I guess we will find out Wednesday night but it may not be just a race card when it comes to John's outlook ~ since I didn't know of him before this show I am totally clueless to anything about him other than the few tidbits that have been tossed out so far on the show.

I did finally google him and I can see where the "real a$$" comment came from.  Here are a couple of links if anyone is interested:

One can only hope that John Rocker has changed his viewpoints on things since then especially since there is a gay couple and a black couple on the show. Rolling Eyes

1999.  Do you suppose he's changed his views since then?

All I can say singly is that I truly hope he has but I guess time will tell.  This video of Jeff Probst introducing the different contestants really had me scratching my head when he introduced John Rocker though.   Scratch

I hope they don't drag on this race card for week after week.  I get impatient when there's too much hostility involved.  I seem to have developed adult ADD in recent years (lol) and when I get impatient or disgusted, I just deleted the show from my schedule.  And I don't look back.

The year Russell was on, I shut it down when they featured him with more and more camera time.  I know some people like the controversy and arguments.  At the end of the day, I just want peace.  They'll lose me once again if there's a Jeremy vs. John theme for the season.

John's prejudices went beyond just blacks ~ he had also made remarks about the gay community.  Since there is a black couple and a gay couple on this season I would say it is more than just a race card.  Jeremy maybe just brought up the black issue but I guess we will see what happens tomorrow night.  They have really been playing up John's past on the commercials for tomorrow nights episode but when something like that has been done for the bach franchise when the episode aired it turned out to be nothing but TPTB blowing more hot air to get people to watch.  I'm hoping this will turn out to be the same but I won't hold my breath.  So far I have not seen John act adversely to either the blacks or the gays in this show.  Confused
