Re: DWTS Season 24
Vegas odds of all celebs according to Pure. Pleasantly surprised that Bonner is ranked high. First I thought it was all Sharna's merit, but from what I've heard, the guy can move. However, at this point it's all obviously based on popularity alone- which we should never underestimate though.

Oh God, not another gymnast or Olympic medalist winning unless I really like her.

Re: DWTS Season 24
Interesting, bro. The top two, Simone and Heather are likely a very good forecast of F2. Bonner might slip into third if he can move as the show likes a gender divide of 2 to 1. Personally I think Nick Viall has the potential for top 4. I think they have Charo way over rated.

Re: DWTS Season 24
I think a lot of people like Charo. Maybe she wasn't that popular in Canada. She has got a lot of personality and she probably moves well even though she is older. I would think Chris Kattan would not be next to last. He is funny and looks like he could move well. I really hate to predict anything this early. I would like to have some surprise. That's partly why I watch the show, so I hate to take anything like predictions so early seriously.

Re: DWTS Season 24
Many seem to think it's Simone's to lose (though personally I am with Glitters here); so the pressure is on Sasha. Heather could as well be voted off if she's too good (call it the Sabrina Bryan curse). In her case, it might also depend on the chemistry she and Maks develop.

Another factor and a biggie it is: the producers favourite. That rears its head nearly every season. That carries more weight than almost anything else. Last season with Laurie, Bindi, Amber Riley, so many more. Sometimes we know early just who they're pushing, sometimes they wait a bit. But there will be someone, I believe.

Re: DWTS Season 24
But you don't think Katherine Jenkins was their favorite and then Peta won because of her free style? I think that's what people said, it was her free style.

Re: DWTS Season 24
I know you disliked Katherine Jenkins, Glitters but I never thought she was the producer's pet. That was one season I thought was decided without any particular manipulation. Not every season has been tinkered and meddled with although more recent seasons have been.I do believe the freestyle Peta came up with swayed the outcome.

Re: DWTS Season 24
It's not that I disliked her. I just didn't want her to win. She was too goody-goody and perfect. It's like if it were between Mary and Rhoda, I would want Rhoda to win.

I was thinking the same thing. I've always wondered how things might have gone if some of the practice packages had not been so manipulated.

Re: DWTS Season 24
Gossip I've picked up: the crap media targeted Nancy yesterday. Said she's acting like a diva (with no evidence though). Nancy is just a bit reserved, not over the top bubbly and "on" all the time like so many fans want in a female contestant. Artem seems happier with his partner than he has since his Strictly days so that's good enough for me.
Someone remarked Nick would be the male target and lo and behold, he is just that today. Arrogant on set they imply. What garbage. We know Peta wouldn't tolerate that for one second. And I've never seen a shred of arrogance in Nick and I've watched him in three Bach franchise shows.
Happens every season and ticks me off every time.

Re: DWTS Season 24
I hear what you're saying sis, about ones that aren't as bubbly so the producers try to push their and their partners buttons it seems, like Tamar, Nastia, and Amber....and JH contributed to that, but that may have had a little to do with her apparent disdain for Maks.
It seemed as though the judges were always picking on Charlie, I think so only Meryl would be in the finals.

I don't know if it's just a matter of being bubbly. Some people just aren't as likable no matter what. Meryl wasn't exactly bubbly nor was Katherine Jenkins. I think with Nancy Kerrigan, she comes across as too serious. Bubbly can be annoying depending on who it is.

Re: DWTS Season 24
We have seen enough champions that were far from being bubbly (e.g. most athletes); so it's safe to say a certain type of personality doesn't grant the win. It's true: bubbly can be over the top and rub you the wrong way.
Regarding Maks and Julianne, my impression is they get along meanwhile. The phoning-it-in remark hasn't lead to an ongoing struggle, and Jules has learned to be a bit more careful with her remarks towards the pros.
Season 18 was a difficult case indeed. In TPTB's eyes, Meryl had to be in the finale and yes, she was the best dancer and pushed Maks to new heights. James and Peta were on the same level for me, Amy was kind of untouchable, and Candace obviously had a strong fanbase that compensated the lower scores. It was obvious where Charlie's votes would go after his elimination, so sacrificing him was collateral damage. Poor Sharna. If this was only a dance competition- which it is clearly not- Charlie would have been in the finals, not Candace. I wouldn't even blame the judges here. Their average scores still had Charlie in third and Candace in sixth place.
Whatever the gossip about this season's contestants is at this point, it's not coming from the producers yet. We will have to wait and see how the packages present everyone. Most fellows on this board seem able to look behind it based on long term experience, but unfortunately a lot of voters are not. Let's hope this doesn't spoil a promising season again.

How could Candace be ahead of Charlie? I loved Charlie. My James Bond. I won't say what I think of Candace, but I've seen her on other shows and one of the things that annoys me is that voice.

Re: DWTS Season 24
I agree Candace didn't belong in the final four. I wouldn't exactly say I loved Charlie. But you know I love Sharna. In the end, we were both disappointed with the outcome, although maybe for different reasons. Sharna's choreographies were top notch, and he was a great student. Peta presented him fine in that controversial Rumba, and Maks had great input for him with the Bond character in the Tango. It's a shame their Mary Poppins number is mostly remembered for the cane dropping. Len still scored a ten though.
Things like that have happened many times. We can be almost sure someone will be thrown under the bus, only we don't know who yet.

Re: DWTS Season 24
Here is the first FB Live of Bonner and Sharna--now on YouTube!
Bonner's charm seems to be more low-key, so his personality doesn't pop out like James' did from the start. But I really look forward to seeing him dance and want to see Sharna pull a great Tango out of him.
