Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
Artem did have a "contender" when he danced with our sister (Mayor Kincaid) during the DWTS tour earlier this year. He pleaded withLesallee wrote:Dancing With the Stars Insider from buddy TV rated the first dances. Top Five:
1. James and Sharna
2. Laurie and Val
3. Jana and Gleb
4. Vanilla and Witney
5. Calvin and Lindsay
Pretty well where I rated them although I would put Calvin and Lindsay ahead of Vanilla and Witney,
On the bottom, Rick and Emma with Maureen and Artem second last.
How I wish Emma and Artem could have contenders for once.
the producers to make her his partner, but they declined stating that she was not a celebrity.

I will have to say that Artem's "celebrity" partner drove me crazy with her giddiness and I really don't care to see her again. I feel for Artem if she is like that all the time they are together trying to train.Babs2147 wrote:Artem did have a "contender" when he danced with our sister (Mayor Kincaid) during the DWTS tour earlier this year. Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
From Derek Hough's blog in TV Guide this week:
"One of the worst parts of the altercation was that it overshadowed everyone’s performances and the premiere itself. There were some fantastic dances that got lost in this mayhem. Was I not right about James? He was fantastic! I think he’s even more of a natural dancer than Helio and I’m really intrigued to see what he does this season."

Sharna is scheduled for a little zip around the race track at Sonoma at 4P.M. with Hinch. She's a little apprehensive 'cause James told her they would be doing about 200 mph. He told her not to worry as he only starts to make mistakes when he gets tired, around 4PM. Then he sweetly added, "Oh wait, what time is our ride?" Gotta love Hinch!

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
Got a Hinchtown newsletter a couple of days ago. It had a really great pic of them rehearsing the foxtrot in their regular clothes in the ballroom. It was of him dipping her with her leg extended and it was just them in the spotlight!!

Maybe if we get a 'reality show' started in St. Petasburg we will become 'famous' or 'almost famous?' then we can be contenders
Anyway, I will always cherish the 5 seconds Artem and I had dancing side by side in the aisle at the beginning of the show

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
I don't expect Sharna to scream as loud as Chelsie Hightower in season 15, when Helio took her for a ride.

From now on, a guy with a Toyota SUV will never impress her. My problem, I guess.

I don't know brother, I think she looks more at the man than the car, so that puts you right at the top!

A day and a half to prepare??? Unbelievable. I think Team StopandGo's trajectory is headed sky high.

This team makes me smile and they are going to get all my votes from now on, no more splitting them up.

I really enjoyed their dance and was a bit disappointed in their scores tonight.

Scorewise, they are in a solid second place after two weeks. Not too shabby!

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
I've been mulling over those "too vertical" comments directed at Janes and I think they are bogus. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the male in Paso supposed to maintain a vertical position, much like flamenco?
It worries me when Len starts nitpicking a young, good looking guy who is performing fantastically. How many times has Old Grumpy done that? Nyle, Corbin I can name off the top of my head and I am sure I will recall more after some thought.
The dance was fantastic and performed under very trying circumstances. Their music wasn't approved and Sharna had to change and adapt the choreography and teach it all to James in 36 hours. James "day job" isn't exactly low pressure and requires super concentration and skill. With that race to focus on James had no time for dancing. And yet he came in, learned that dance in a matter of hours and he and Sharna laid down a beauty. Amazing, that overworked word applies here. Scores were too low for sure.
I would truly love this team to win, Laurie is excellent and I adore Val but Laurie is such a typical DWTS favourite, the type we've seen many, many times.
Go Team StopAndGo.

[snip]
Lesallee, I believe I know what they were referring to. In the Paso, a man typically holds out his arms in a way that takes up space, making him look dominant, muscular, virile.
Hinch did not do that enough, so he presented a shape that looked more like a telephone pole than a big branching tree. That is what CA and Julianne were referring to as "too vertical". Too up and down and not enough branching width to go with it. It had nothing to do with posture. His posture was fine.
If I remember correctly, Len's problem was just that the staging took away from the dance, not enough recognizable elements, too many people, etc. He often complains about stuff like that.
I think the criticism that the ladies made was constructive. He can use it to get even better than he is already.
And he is second place on the leaderboard after two dances, 4 points ahead of the rest of the pack. He is in great shape score-wise, I think.
