Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
Oh dear, Bing says Laurie wins, second Jana, James third. The consolation for us is that Bing has been wrong more often than right this season, I honestly cannot imagine Jana and Gleb finishing ahead of James.

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
It looks like the last voting for next week will be the most important one. I don't think I've seen anything yet about if TPTB will open up the voting, and I wonder how they will announce it if they do.
Thanks to Julie N for uploading some more James and Sharna Instastory moments.
Preparing for the Semi-Finals.
James and Sharna watch their final AT move. James: "Hold it. . .hold it. . .hold it. . .HOLD IT. . .SHARNA LOOK UP. . .ARE WE STILL DOING IT?"
(Just noticed--James is drinking a can of his Hinchtown Hammerdown beer )
Very short teaser for the Freestyle.

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
I won't take Bing serious. Three times Jana has been in the bottom two; so where are the votes supposed to come from? Third and fourth place should be between Jana and Calvin.
Laurie is the one to beat, but do we honestly expect Val to come up with a freestyle as creative as Sharna's?
I would l.m.f.a.o. if we find out Carrie Ann and her stupid nine have created the momentum that James and Sharna need.

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
I have to keep in mind that Bing consistently claimed Sadie as the winner over Alfonso and we all know how that turned out.
There is a lot of support for TeamStopAndGo on sm, more than any of the others. At least that I've seen. One thing that's bugging me is the delay in getting the AT up on the DWTS Facebook page. Calvin's finally went up today and Jana's yesterday. Laurie's predictably went up first, ages ago. I use those FB comments to calculate how deep the support is. When Bing and many others kept pushing Sadie as the winner I knew Alfonso would beat her. His FB support was so far ahead of hers. And really going back, all the way to All Star season, so many were totally convinced Shawn and Derek would win but Facebook support had swung overwhelmingly to Melissa and Tony.
Anyway, whoever can vote for James and Sharna, vote, vote, vote.

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
Speaking of Alfonso again, remember his hobby is driving race cars.
I think Bing might be doing promotion rather than prediction. I've said it on another thread, and I'll stick to my guns: Laurie's win is as obvious as Hillary's was according to predictions.
Wasn't Melissa considered the underdog of AllStar Season?

Oh yes, Melissa was absolutely not supposed to win. But win she did and to this day some bitter people promote the idea that the fix was in. I never thought so because the show didn't promote her much or really anyone. Things were quite different back in the day. It was far more "let the chips fall where they may" than it is now.

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
Why James and Sharna Deserved a Perfect 'DWTS' Score by Derek Stauffer, BuddyTV.com
http://www.buddytv.com/articles/dancing-with-the-stars/why-james-and-sharna-deserved-62132.aspxThank God Sharna is back on Dancing with the Stars! In Sharna's injury absence, Jenna Johnson was not a bad replacement. No current professional on Dancing with the Starscould ever be qualified as "bad." But Jenna obviously lacked that very special energy that James Hinchcliffe has with Sharna. Sharna and James proved that connection with a (metaphorically) deadly performance in their commanding Argentine Tango in the semi-finals.
Thanks to Carrie Ann Inaba, the dance did not earn a perfect score. According Carrie Ann there were some prominent mistakes in the beginning of the dance that held it back from being true perfection. Not to tell Carrie Ann how to do her job, but she is wrong. James and Sharna absolutely deserved that perfect score.
James and Sharna's tango was not the best dance of the night. It's hard, very close to impossible, for anyone to top Laurie and Val's foxtrot. Some of that is sympathy because of Laurie's grandmother's death. Most of it, though, is in Laurie's innate dancing talent and ability to convey true and genuine emotion through her movements. There is no reason why Laurie and Val's foxtrot should have in any way affected James and Sharna's tango scores, even retroactively. Even if Laurie and Val did a "better" job it doesn't make James and Sharna's dance look worse by comparison because they were two very different routines.
The blindfold gimmick is not that original. As co-host Erin Andrews pointed out, it has been done before onDancing with the Stars. The truly impressive feat of the dance isn't that Sharna could not see anything. It is how commanding and proficient James was in leading her across the dance floor. If you had a complete Dancing with the Stars newbie watch the couples in the semifinals it would be pretty easy to pick out the celebrity partners and not just because some of them look vaguely familiar. With James and Sharna it is very hard to pick out the professional from the amateur because he is just that good.
With James and Jenna you could tell he was inexperienced because their chemistry wasn't nearly as solid. James and Sharna are so in sync that truly amazing things can happen on the dance floor. One of those amazing things was their semifinals tango. While the blindfold thing might have been unoriginal, everything else with the choreography sparkles. That is because of the relationship that has been built between James and Sharna. There is something between them that none of the other couples in season 23 has.
Sharna has long been a very underappreciated choreographer on Dancing with the Stars. Derek Hough, Mark Ballas and even on occasion Val Chmerkovskiy have been loudly praised for their choreography on the show. Sharna will get some recognition but (maybe because she has not won the show yet) she is not mentioned with the same awe as those other male dancers. James and Sharna's tango worked, and deserved that perfect score, because of Sharna's choreography.
Sharna managed to position James in the best light possible and the routine oozed emotion and sensuality. Even if there was a mistake in the beginning like Carrie Ann mentioned (I certainly don't see it) the choreography and the message the dance conveyed more than makes up for any tiny, possibly nonexistent, mistake. Even if we assume Carrie Ann is right, that there was some wonky footwork in the beginning making the dance technically imperfect, the emotions it was aiming for creating were perfect. The dance easily deserved a 30 out of 30, not a 29 out of 30. . .

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
I thought Jenna was pretty good as a fill-in even if she wasn't Sharna. They should have her as one of the pros as I think she is more interesting to watch than some of the others. She has an expressive face and lots of personality. I'm not a dancing judge, but I would put their tango on par with Laurie and Val's dance. Sharna and James' dance was mesmerizing. Laurie had the back story, but James and Sharna's dance almost made me cry. Erin did the same thing before, but it wasn't for the whole dance was it? Wasn't it just part of the dance? It didn't have the same effect.

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
Jenna will get her chance again. It took awhile for Lindsay between her first pro season with Victor Ortiz in S16 and her second pro shot with Alex Skarlatos in S21. It was her good chemistry and relationship with Alex that increased Lindsay's pro status. Jenna needs a similar future celebrity match where both she and her partner have the chemistry that will inspire her creativity--like what we have seen between James and Sharna.
I had to check out Erin's and Maks' Waltz since i didn't watch that season. About a quarter of the way through was when Maks put the blindfold on Erin, and she kept it on for the rest of the dance and removed it at the very end. I thought it was a pretty good waltz, but I personally didn't care for the way they ended it with Erin pulling off the blindfold with an attitude that kind of broke the romantic mood they initially had. The judges were not overly impressed.

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
I'm surprised no one mentioned the obvious and decisive difference. Erin was the first, yet not the only celebrity to wear a blindfold. The last ones were probably the winners of season 21/ 22 (Bindi and Nyle). But never before has the pro been blindfolded and lead by the celebrity, right? I honestly can't think of any other couple that could even dare to attempt it this way round.
Sharna's intention was to show the world James can actually take the leading role and not just look-as-if, like many others do.
Maks' approach was different. Erin had trouble letting him lead; so he blindfolded her during rehearsals to let her experience being guided and controlled.
In the end, James did the same job as Maks. Now who's the pro?

The AT is still not up on DWTS Facebook page! Ridiculous. Maybe they don't want to risk the astronomical number of views it will get so will wait as long as possible. The agenda seems to be coming clear.

It doesn't surprise me that Maks had a hard time with Erin letting him lead.

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
The latest FB chat! These two are just plain exhausted. Considering the extra hours they put in, it is not surprising. I'm sure going to miss them after next week.
Sharna mentions that the freestyle will be a combination of contemporary and a number of the different dance styles they have worked through during the season. The music sounds great, so I'm really looking forward to it.
JAMES AND SHARNA WILL WIN!

I really like Jenna and was sorry to see her and Jake go first. What a great opportunity though to get to work with Sharna for 3 dances and see how Sharna goes through the process with her partner creating incredible dances

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
What they probably want the least are more discussions about a certain judge and how she scored. It wouldn't be long until the favoring of Valaur issue would pop up; as it did on several other platforms. Once that happens on fb, their ship is sinking.
I've watched all of our team's performances over and over again. It is really kind of schizophrenic how CA went from high appreciation (e.g. the Mark Ballas comparison) to nitpicking and underscoring. There's definitely more than one judge they have to replace next season.

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
I think the main thing is as long as there are FB comments being made in favor of James and Sharna, it will still be an indicator. But yes, it would have been better to have put up the AT dance because it was so brilliant. In the FB chat Sharna admits to being a bit "salty" about getting the 9 from Carrie Ann plus talking a bit about some of the comments that felt that it wasn't a big deal for her to be the blindfolded partner in their AT.

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
You know sue, Sharna said in earlier interviews perfect scores wouldn't matter that much, but I always thought that was partly self-protection. She wouldn't be that good if she wasn't ambitious, and if her work isn't appreciated then, it's only natural to be disappointed. I'm beginning to think she's too good for this show and maybe one of the most underscored pros ever. And it has always happened rather to female pros.

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
BEST & WORST PERFORMANCES
Best: James Hinchcliffe & Sharna Burgess with Jenna Johnson, Jive to “Gimme Some Lovin’” & James & Sharna, Argentine tango to "Santa Maria"The IndyCar that James crashed to start his whole journey to DWTS was on the floor during this "threesome," but all eyes were on James as the leader of this 200 mph dance.
The Trio was totally in sync through the routine, perfecting their unison movements to highlight the fact that, yes, most of the time now, James looks like an actual pro. He’s that good. This routine deserved its perfect score.
James’s blindfold Argentine Tango was just as great, though. We’ve had blindfold routines before, but Sharna wisely used this opportunity to show James’s strength as a leading man. He had to be in charge and not every guy could pull that off.
Plus, James's ending handstand — which he apparently improvised in rehearsals — um, wow.
Taken from Wetpaint.
