Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
I can actually balance that with some French ancestors. I think sister Babs still has relatives here who live not far from my place. Now look at us. A genuine Kraut, a Maple Leaf, and their US-based siblings, joined in a place with a name that sounds slightly Russian, rooting for a Canadian race car driver and his Aussie lady on an American TV show. Bottom line: borders don't exist for Chongies.Lesallee wrote:I do have German roots, bro. My paternal side came to the U.S. along about 1736. As seemed to be the norm at the time the family wandered around a great deal with my direct ancestors coming to Alberta in the early 1900s.
No more stops, just go. James and Sharna will win.

In a Tough Competetive Night, Hinchcliffe Reigns Supreme! Terra & Sharna Go in Style!
What a Night of Semifinals! They all did perfect dance performances, but the Judges managed to see some flaw to push the ones Production wanted to "enhance". Watch who goes last. It's the favored one and it was Laurie & Val. The Hinch went first, and one would think the SHOW wanted him to slip, but NO HE DIDN'T! Hinch & Sharna razzle-dazzled in a stellar Argentine Tango performance, and tripled the dazzle in the most frigging, swaggering, sexiest, syncopated Jive Trio ever seen on DWTS! Sharna Burgess, was at her most creative. What a dancer, teacher and inventive choreographer! She cooked up a fascinating idea (or two) to raise the ante: The Blindfold Tango! And a spectacular ending! Hinch blindfolds Sharna at the Tango beginning. It's meant to shift total responsibility and control to the dominating male, the HINCH! Sharna must trust James to guide her. It adds suspense, danger, interest to the Tango. The music is genuine hot Argentine, the same Gotan Project music JLo & Richard Gere danced to in the film "Shall we Dance". When will this show realize that Tango loses it's allure and sensuality with any other music but THE ONE! They were one with the music, all the right moves, swift enganche, gliding barridas, exquisite ochos, exciting voleo, elegant promenade with great frame ad posture, Then there was The Tango Chair, a commonly used prop, but wait, this time it gave life to the most beautiful sexy formations, and OMG it was the scene of The Piece de Resistance: Sharna curves back sexily over the chair, and The Great Hinch does a handstand on top of Sharna, Ahhh! Perfectly poised, like a diving champion.Never ever seen-the audience GASPED! So did I. What delight! At last, a suave, smooth, sophisticated Argentine Tango! Julianne said it just right: "the Tango we have seen a lot this season has been hard and aggressive, but this is what an Argentine Tango is. It’s controlled and sexy and has dynamic and passion." Bruno praised it as well: That was an Argentine Grand Prix! What is amazing is the trust between the partners, you were totally on top of it and you never missed a nuance in the music, everything was spot on." Carrie Ann, oh my, she's TPTB agent! What she says is what the Production wants! She reprimanded Hinch for his (non-existent) WOBBLES! Two 10's and one 9-guess who? Carrie Ann saves her 10's for Jana and Laurie! But the voters knew this not "hard and agressive Tango", but "controlled, sexy and passionate", was the MBT deserving one.. They will vote accordingly to compensate Hinch!

Now normally, I would follow my recap about Hinch's magnificent Argentine Tango, with my collaborator's ( Pat Halford) take on it. HOWEVER, Pat is still heated up about the show's intrusive manipulation after her EPIPHANY last week about the show's intrusive manipulation and effort to influence the vote. Usually she doesn't send any introduction. Here's her latest, which I have titled:

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
Well, it's pretty much echoing what the vast majority seems to think, but it feels good to get more confirmation. No one on the planet saw James wobble except Carrie Ann. The sad conclusion is that it's becoming more and more obvious by no means tptb planned to reward Sharna with a contender. Only Hinch isn't who they thought he was. Remember the uproar when I said earlier this season's Bindi might have been determined already? There you go.

Why wouldn't they want to give Sharna a contender?

I really can't think of any other explanation for deflating James' tires with the finish line in sight. He's better than they expected. Tom pointed out early James and Calvin are the only ones with absolutely no dance- or entertainment background. Side note: Rick Perry was already gone at that time.Glittersisgld wrote:Why wouldn't they want to give Sharna a contender?

Simply that he was another none dancer. But unlike James, he did horrible as planned and left as early as expected.

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
...and I felt sorry for Emma. But that's how I think it works. A certain percentage of the cast is picked upfront as cannon fodder, and James was probably not meant to outdo musicians with tons of stage experience like Babyface or Vanilla. Maybe looking back at Helio they should have known better, but Helio is Brazilian and that's a different story. Len was totally on point when he said week one he didn't expect James to be that good. No one did. The show is at its best when surprises like this happen, but there is always someone who doesn't like the idea that a dark horse could turn into a front runner. I wouldn't even say Carrie Ann gets orders how to score. That's over the top for me. But then, she's been there long enough to know herself how to play it. The producers still have the packages to add their twist.Glittersisgld wrote:Rick was a terrible dancer.

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
Carrie Ann is getting raked over the coals all over the 'net for that stupid remark and 9 she handed James and Sharna. Someone said Cheryl Burke on AllAccess had nothing but praise and admiration for that AT. It was also mentioned that Cheryl ought to know as she went to Argentina to study AT. I think CAI is not Sharna's biggest fan and never has been.
And this: Hadn't you better take your flu racked body to bed, bro? It's late and we need you in top form next Monday.

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
Perhaps another reason for the initial assumptions about James was due to the most recent professional race car driver on DWTS--NASCAR driver Michael Waltrip from Season 19. Michael was at least 20 years older than James, and he succeeded in making it as far as Week 8 with Emma because of his personality and willingness to work hard. But he was one of the weaker dancers that season and had to go against celebrities like Alfonso, Sadie, and Tommy. So when James came out of the gate doing so surprisingly well for the novice dancer that he is, he surprised a lot of people. James also had the charm and ease that sold himself and his dancing to a general public that wasn't that familiar with him. Plus his immediate connection with Sharna contributed to a special dance partnership that many viewers enjoyed watching.DeadManDancing wrote:I really can't think of any other explanation for deflating James' tires with the finish line in sight. TPTB didn't realize what a strong partnership James and Sharna would have. They made each other better. In a variation on the old quote about what Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers each brought to their partnership, I think James gave Sharna added warmth and personality and Sharna gave James added class and sex appeal. They already had those qualities, but it took the other to bring it out even more.

I have said many times that James is the partner Sharna has been waiting for all along. They are magical together.

Was Rick Perry on this season? That is so weird. It seems so long ago he was on that I thought it was another season.

I thought Carrie Ann was just a stickler for lifts, but it seems she is such a stickler in other ways.

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
I have some other names to call CAI Glitters, but I had best refrain. I've looked at that AT over and over, as have a million other people. There is no wobble anywhere. It was perfect. She's really getting trashed on sm right now.
One woman, who is a ballroom dance instructor said she watched it in slow motion several times and there is no mistake there.

Well, Len will be back next week, and we will see if he will be Grumpy Len or not. I suspect Carrie Ann will be a bit more "normal" but will likely still be the Lift Police.

Re: The Hinchburg Chronicles
The AT would have been a ten from Len without doubt. As for the bitch that is Carrie Ann, the lift police was oddly out of duty last Monday when both Terra and Jana had major take-offs and landings in their individual dances. So she sees things no one else did see, and overlooked obvious rule breaking that didn't fit her scheme. I hold a grudge against her ever since Nick and Sharna's fabulous Samba and her poisoned compliments, but now she lost the last bit of credibility for me.suebob16 wrote:Well, Len will be back next week, and we will see if he will be Grumpy Len or not. This woman is legally blind by the way, and for me she's legally mad too. First she said seeing Sharna sidelined hurt her heart, and when Sharna fights through weeks of pain and makes a glorious comeback, she refuses to acknowledge the dance of the night.
Sharna is everything CA has never been and never will be, and beyond the layers of make-up that get thicker with each season, Ms Inaba is probably green with envy.
