DWTS Season 24
Probably should wait until we get a new banner but I guess we can use this for now. I can't create a forum, only a topic.

Yee haw! Thanks!
Soooo....what do you guys think about the controversy surrounding Heather Morris and the fact that she is a professional dancer? I've read a couple of articles complaining that she really shouldn't be on the show. Personally, I really don't care. She has to win me over with her personality as well as her dancing.

I'm still trying to think if there's anyone to root for.
I hope that the bull rider or the Cubbie win me over.

Re: DWTS Season 24
I am inclining toward Nancy Kerrigan and Artem this season. I don't believe they will win but skaters always do well and Artem deserves to get deeper into the season.
I hope the bull rider (I can never remember his name) shows some ability because I adore LL Sharna. But will lightning strike twice for her? Hinch is a hard act to follow.
Heather and Maks should be entertaining; will they win? Well it takes more than being a professional dancer to land that old MBT as Paige VanZant and Mark can testify. That elusive connection with the voting viewers has to happen.
Sasha has a good one this time and they should turn in some fine performances.
I may be the odd one out but I look forward to Nick and Peta. I think he has dance potential and Peta can bring it out in fine fashion.
Mr. T, Charo and the Housewife are just there to be the bye, bye kids in the first few weeks.
The athletes I will assess as we get going. I haven't a clue about any of them right now.
Another huge factor is who the producers favour. That sways the votes tremendously and seems to happen on a regular basis. I wish it didn't and that we could just pick and vote for our faves without the manipulation.

Re: DWTS Season 24
Chris Kattan did a lot of physical comedy on SNL, so I wonder how he will do. He looks pretty flexible, but I don't know what shape he is in now. Nick loves women like Peta, but then I think he likes most women. I'm sure he will fall in love with her.

Agree with it taking more than being a professional dancer to win that shiny trophy....not only Paige, but Zendaya and the very talented Corbin Bleu!!

Re: DWTS Season 24
Some random thoughts about the cast:
Heather: could go either way. I expect her to do better in Latin than Ballroom. It will be interesting to see if she will inspire Maks as much as Meryl did. I liked what he created for Amber though. How will she resonate with the audience? Lesallee mentioned Paige. I was reminded of another blatant example; Elizabeth Berkley. Val threw in his best choreographies, but they were sent home in the semi-finals because she was too good.
Nick: not Peta's first bachelor. Remember Sean Lowe. The funny thing about bachelors is they usually make it past the halfway point based on popularity alone. If this one could dance, that would be a first.
Mr. T: yay, someone even I have heard of! He won't give up without a fight, but that's not even important. I just love to have Kym on the show!
Bonner (the bull rider): I obviously hope he will do great simply because he's with my one and only Sharna. Producers may think though she's gone so far so often lately that it's time for a setback.
Same for Lindsay and David. I hope I'm wrong...
Normani: I don't remember if it was Tom or Robin Roberts, but someone on GMA mentioned the Chmerkovskiy family (including Peta) has won four mbt's since season 18. Whatever that means now. If one of them makes it again this season, I may not appreciate it for obvious reasons. Sorry, but I really hope Val is not meant to be the new Derek.
Simone: I've said earlier imo she should have waited another season. Following Laurie might spoil her chances from the start. Not even NFL-players have won consecutive seasons. Not your fault, Sasha.
Erika: easy to imagine which road Gleb will take. But will he be able to top the shower scene with Jana?
Rashad: will probably require less nurturing than most of Emma's previous partners.
Nancy: I can't help but think of Dorothy Hammill here. May she be in better shape. Do it for Tristan, Artem.
Chris: At least he should bring the fun. But no one will ever come close to Alfonso for
Witney.
Charo: another Chaka for Keo. Someone has to go first.
Just know everyone that I usually suck at reading the coffee grounds. Whatever.
This cast is diverse and should have the power to surprise- especially me. As usual.

I don't think Val could ever be Derek. Few could be. I think Derek is more expressive and accessible.

That's not even my point. I'm worried they build up Val as the new superstar since Derek is gone. I never liked that.

I was just comparing them and partly what I feel makes Derek special. I don't see Val taking Derek's place. I don't think he is special enough even though I like him.

I hope you're right. In honour of Derek, let me add I often thought he felt uncomfortable with that status himself. So would Val. But who's asking them?

I can't wait for the dancing to begin. May the judges not eff things up too badly with their manipulations.

Re: DWTS Season 24
Who thinks this song could be used as Season 24's opening pro number? It seems made for DWTS. JT opened the Oscars with this Oscar-nominated song that he co-wrote for the animated film Trolls.
Cute moments from this video--JT pats the shoulder of fellow Oscar-nominee (and former Mickey Mouse Club castmate from years ago) Ryan Gosling. Justin meeting up with his actress wife Jessica Biel dancing in the aisle as he is finishing the song. Jackie Chan (honored with a career Oscar) is briefly shown clapping along.

I started thinking the same thing last season brother......and with Maksim coming back last season and this one.
Have we seen the end of an era with Derek and Mark?
I do enjoy the Chmerkovskiy trio

The JT song would be a great number on DWTS .... I too can't wait for the dancing to start. No favourite yet, will wait to see them all step out first.
I think I may have the winner piked and yes I think there WILL be manipulations by TPTB ... it would not be DWTS if there were not ....

Re: DWTS Season 24
Hah- the season hasn't even started, and already the accusations are flying. Gonna be great! Who will win the award for the most manipulative and overly dramatic package this season? Who will burst into tears, and who will have a tantrum? And honestly folks- wouldn't we miss it if it didn't happen?
According to Wiki, all four judges will be back. I wonder if Len will be a bit more focused and engaged again. The traveling obviously took a toll last year.
If Julianne really returns, we should listen carefully in week one. She's pretty good at predicting finalists.
My love-hate relationship with Carrie Ann will obviously continue. On the upside, she is gorgeous, empathic, experienced, and constructive. On the downside, she gets picky when someone threatens her personal favorite; so...
Bruno will hopefully do his best again to balance her blackouts.
My wishes for Season 24: please, abc, be careful with the props and special effects. Not so much fog that the footwork becomes unrecognizeable, no more furniture, and no more vehicles on stage. Last season, we had Rick Perry on a tractor, Vanilla got an 80's Ford convertible, a Taxi for Marilu, Ryan Lochte in a vintage Rolls Royce, Calvin jumping out of a Cadillac, and Laurie not exactly in, but on top of a 70's Plymouth Coupe or something like that. Anyway, you can't top James' original Indy car. I wouldn't consider it a sign of creativity to simply replace that with a Tesla or Prius.
Finally, a bit more dancing in week one than the 45-second-routines we got lately. And now, bring it on. It's been a long time.

Re: DWTS Season 24
Oh yes there will be drama...tears....fights...let's just hope no one gets whacked in the knees over that shiny MB
What would we do without the 4 judges......hmm not enough time, but I could think of some things. They have become pretty predictable...we know JH will bash Maks every chance she gets (I'm sure Mark doesn't miss her snark) hahaha I'm a poet Bruno and CA will pick their favorite hunk to cheer on and Len well Len will try to keep things on point, but even he wobbles a little.
The smoke gets in the way of seeing footwork at least on TV and those routines that are barely lit.....Val does a lot of those.
As far as the cars go, only one was a perfect prop and that was Cheech and Chong starting Chongs first dance off in the low rider
Well that's my 2 cents

Songs for next season: Smoke Gets In Your Eyes and Dancing In The Dark. Used cars could be sold outside the ballroom after every show.kincaid53 wrote:...

Thanks for reminding me of Chong's low rider. Everyone fell in love with Tommy- only Erin was more into the hydraulics...
Robert and Kym looked cute in the T-bird though. Not to forget Lea Thompson going back to the future in that DeLorean.
Welcome back to Dancing With The Cars. Will Maks be pumpin' gas again?
