Between Seasons Conversations
A place for those of us who like to talk about DWTS in between seasons.
I have been reading a lot of speculation that Mark won't be back. I wonder. He has had a lot of back injuries and that might factor in. Plus, he is very much pursuing his singing career.
Of course Peta will not be gracing Season 23 with her wonderful presence. So there would be two vacancies.

And you have to wonder if either Karina or Edyta will be back or even want to be back. Could be quite a different cast of pros.

Re: Between Seasons Conversations
It is kind of hard to not see your favourite dancers on the show.I always want to see Karina because I admire her a lot.I like Emma too, missed her this season but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy seeing Etyta whom I had not seen before.
I only watched a few dances in season 12 and 13,then I think it was season 17 when I watched the entire season when Bill Engvall was on.I like watching different pros on the show.
Do you think if they changed the pro line up more often that the fans would vote more for the cast instead of their favourite pro dancers ?

Re: Between Seasons Conversations
The pros are a big factor, for sure, Oakma. I do think we get way too familiar with them like we have with Derek and Mark and maybe Val is getting into that category now too. Oh and Tony also. Sometimes a break from the ultra familiar and routine is beneficial. Think Lindsay and how she has come on in the last two seasons.Oakma wrote:It is kind of hard to not see your favourite dancers on the show.I always want to see Karina because I admire her a lot.I like Emma too, missed her this season but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy seeing Etyta whom I had not seen before.

I hope that he takes care of his back sooner rather than later. Might be harder to recover from later.

There are some dancers I like, some I don't care for and some I feel neutral about so I like the idea of a changing cast as long as the ones I like are on the show.

Just heard Boyz II Men will be appearing here in the old home town at River Cree. A chance to see Wanya in person, better look into tickets.

Re: Between Seasons Conversations
I think we may have to look at it as a pool of dancers. Seems Rob Wade has established a system allowing fan favorites to appear for a season or two (Kym, Anna, Louis, Edyta) while others have to step back (Artem, Emma), but always with the option to return. The fall season usually features more contestants (and four finalists!) anyway, so I guess there will be up to seven male/ female pros each. Quite sure we'll see Lindsay, Witney, Sharna, Emma, and Karina (unlike Anna, she signed a long term contract apparently). The question mark is behind Allison and Edyta. The men leave a lot more room for speculation. I can't imagine DWTS without Tony, and Artem should be fix either- but: can we consider Sasha an established pro now? Will Keo get another try (no more room for error)? Will Mark really move on; for whatever reason? Will Val's schedule with the summer tour allow him to be back in time? Is Derek having withdrawals already? Is Alan ready for the next step? Season 23 pro announcement should be interesting.Lesallee wrote:The pros are a big factor, for sure, Oakma. Let's not forget what an excellent vocalist he is. Should be interesting to watch if the way he moves on stage is different now.kincaid53 wrote:Lesallee wrote:Just heard Boyz II Men will be appearing here in the old home town at River Cree. A chance to see Wanya in person, better look into tickets.

Re: Between Seasons Conversations
For me it's always been about the cast member and not the pro. I have a bunch of them I like so it would be hard to just pick one.
I knew right away that Nyle would be getting all of my votes because I saw what a decent human being he was on ANTM and I just had a feeling that he was going to do fine. He surpassed any of my expectations and then some. He and Peta made an awesome duo. I still watch their FS a lot. Still get goosebumps every time.
I bet the B2M concert will be fun.

Re: Between Seasons Conversations
That's my sis, always on the ball! You're right, this is the thread for it.
I thought Laila and Maks were a good partnership. He does well with strong and confident women. Think I will watch some of their dances too, kin. Maybe throw in a dollop or two of The Divine Mister M and Sweet P, can't ever get too much of those two. Oh yeah, some Corbin and Karina also. Wait, wait, I have yard work to do, better cool it!

Re: Between Seasons Conversations
I had to laugh when I watched the video of them, because things have changed so much in terms of the judges and not so much their critiques, but how they deliver them and how the pro and star just kind of stone faced accepted them.
Oh I do understand sis....I start watching, then I keep thinking 'just one more' and we all know you can't just watch one!!!

Re: Between Seasons Conversations
Planted a few cucumbers and tomatoes, came in and watched James' and Peta's freestyle again. Totally wowed again and still mad at old fuddy duddy Len for giving that spectacular dance a 9. Every other freestyle that season paled in comparison. And yes, I include Meryl and Maks (remember, this is my opinion).

Re: Between Seasons Conversations
We think alike, sis. I also planted tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers this afternoon.
Agree with you about James and Peta's freestyle. Still mad they made 4th place!
Heard there is massive flooding in Europe, especially France and Germany. I do
hope our little brother(DMD) is not affected. Take care and be safe, bro!

Re: Between Seasons Conversations
Here I am. Thank you all for asking. It's really heartwarming to have a family that cares. So far we're good, but it ain't over yet. There are still warnings of thunderstorm and heavy rain. Germany's biggest open air rock festival, featuring bands like the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, was cancelled the other night after 80 people were injured by lightning strike. Our area wasn't hit as hard as others by now, but the ground is so soaked that trees come down without warning and creeks and rivers are on the edge of breaking banks. The rain stopped today; so I hope we have the worst behind us.
The main reason I was offline though was the finale of Let's Dance. The show may not be as big as DWTS, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The winner is a young girl named Victoria Swarovski. Thinking of rhinestones, anyone? Yes, that's her family. But she is totally unpretentious, charming, and the best dancer of the season, so after Nyle and Peta, no reason to complain there either. She even could afford to pick the Samba as her favorite dance. I could post a link if anyone is interested. Her freestyle was a medley from The Mask. Who knows, maybe her pro was inspired by Nyle and Peta's Quickstep, but of course the choreography was totally different. A nice reminder for me though.
