The Tiny dancer has arrived!!

Peta Murgatroyd and fiancé Maksim Chmerkovskiy of Dancing with the Starsfame welcomed their first child, a son, on Wednesday, Jan. 4, the new dad announced on Twitter.
Shai Aleksander Chmerkovskiy was born at 5:34 a.m. in New York City.

I saw her video message. How happy she is to be a part of this family! Very thoughtful of her and Val not to go at the same time; though they certainly would have loved to. I only saw few complaints. Not only did Peta love Nyle's gift, but it made her break her social media silence since Shai's birth. I love how Nyle has used his reality TV stardom to educate the public. Baby sign language alleviates a lot of parental frustrations with baby tantrums from about 8-18 months (more if the toddler has speech delays). I have used it with my babies and nephews/nieces and it really worked wonders.
On a slightly different note, have you noticed that Peta tends to be very quiet on social media when Maks is around but is more engaged with her fandom when he is away from her? He tends to be consistent either way. Maks has a very overbearing personality & I hope that she carves a space to keep her independent stardom because she is, in my estimation, a better choreographer & teacher than Maks. Coming back to the show may help her regain that confidence.

Wow, not a Maks fan it seems! Personally, I don't see Peta lacking confidence or individuality. She holds her own just fine with Maks and he obviously adores her.
After their split in 2012(?) Maks floundered for a time. I remember he went to some event in Europe with a former flame who had a bit of a questionable rep. Shortly after that he announced that "he knew now what he wanted". That was Peta and he dedicated himself to winning her back. Win her, he did and I think they are a smashing couple.

I actually think they both have shared a lot of their family life and upcoming parenthood with the fans. But when you're about to deliver, normally the last thing you think about is social media. It's difficult enough for them to draw the line and maintain at least a bit of privacy. I'm considering Maks as being protective rather than overbearing. Just an opinion. Peta knows best, of course.

I think the social media silence is deliberate right now. I think Peta and Maks are just having some private time, getting to know little Shai and just being a family. Wise move.
