If it doesn't appear on social media, it didn't happen
A sign of the times.
It would appear that a whole bunch of the cast of BIP got together tonight in person to watch the premiere together. Producer Elan Gale was also there.
Except they didn't really WATCH the show. That is, their eyes were mostly down, feverishly scrolling through their Twitter feeds, anxious to see how viewers were reacting to their motorcade of mortification, their aggregate of awkwardness, their convoy of confusion, their train wreck of turpitude.
At one point, someone there tweeted that nobody was actually watching the TV screen; they were all on their phones checking social media, hoping for scraps of recognition from the viewing public.
Barring the few gushing tweets of how gorgeous Ashley I. was (likely tweeted by herself), most of the tweets about tonight's episode were mocking and unfavourable.
And yet, those contestants remained faithful to the cause, delighting in the drivel the show portrayed through them.
Perhaps wrongly so, but The Bachelor and The Bachelorette at least hide behind the illusion of true love. Bachelor in Paradise seems proud to represent the sleaze fest it is.
At least it's not being disingenuous like the sickly sweet shows that spawned it.
Praise-worthy?

No surprise there. These people are just regular people that lucked out in an audition for this crazy show and they are grasping at any little tidbit of recognition in hopes that some day they may be a 'celebrity'. They all need to grow up.

I sometimes think the only reason programming is still on the air at all is to have something to post about on social media.
I think it would be a gas to emulate Jimmy Kimmel's Lie Witness News and make something up as a punk or spoof, start a discussion about it on social media, and see how it spreads.
'Cause if it's on the Internet, it must be true. right?

Wait a minute. Was this one of those "Chat LIVE with the Singles" during the premiere episode?
