Nick's family Empty Nick's family

I know this was touched on in the finale post, but I wanted to discuss it separately. 

1. Why were they there?  I thought they might interview them at least from their seats in the audience, but that clearly never happened.
2. Were any of Shawn's family members there?  Perhaps we just never got a shot of them?

Just trying to figure this out.

Hi Regina. I didn't notice Shawn's or Nick's family in the audience.  That shows how much I pay attention.  It could be that they were there to support him.  Then again, they may have been there at the request of the producers.  I would like to think they were there to support their son.
