Season 27

Re: Season 27
Feels good to be back, sis. We'll see how it goes for Tinashe. Sometimes experience is held against contestants (like Heather Morris), sometimes not (like Jordan Fisher). There's more to it. If, for example,Tinashe and Brandon develop a chemistry like M&M, anything is possible.Lesallee wrote:Love your pic of sweet little Pebbles, Bro. Glad you are back on the board, we missed you.
I don’t think Tinashe will be much of a threat to win it all. She has extensive dance training and you know that causes a backlash of criticism. Technically, she has no ballroom experience but she has in every other dance form and with that training it is an easy transition to ballroom. She’s excellent and I will enjoy her dancing as long as she is there.
I don’t think Bobby and Sharna have a hope but they will have fun and take us along for the ride!
Still have that feeling that DeMarcus and Lindsay will take the MBT. The judges love him.
The ratings are disastrous. I guess they f...ed it up with that four-week spring season- that's obviously where the trouble started.

And they didn't hold experience against Nicole Scherzinger, though I enjoyed watching her and was glad she won.

For almost everyone in the entertainment business, acting, dancing, and/ or singing are part of the education. That's why I have always considered these 'ringer' discussions hypocritical.

I will keep an eye on the fb comments about Tinashe. That’s often a good indicator which way the wind is blowing. So far there is just a bit of grumbling about her experience.

Nancy may not be my favorite, but I find her much more appealing than Mary Lou, and I definitely think she was underscored. Val's choreo was jam packed for week one, and she coped with it nicely.
To your question about the dance styles, the answer is ratings. DWTS is a competition (at least kind of,) but above all it's an entertainment show. Anyone who is not a ballroom judge or professional dancer will probably find it quite fatiguing to watch thirteen foxtrots in a row. There has to be variety to keep the visitors interested. What they could do though is not eliminate anybody week one (like on Strictly) and make sure couples that danced Latin first get ballroom next and vice versa. However, this show isn't meant to be fair. They like drama and shocking eliminations.
DeadManDancing, Thank you for answering my question. Indeed I would be bored if I was made to watch the same type dance all episode. But then I don't watch at least three quarters of the dances as it is Lol. That is a great idea to not eliminate anybody week one and then rotate dances the next time. But then I guess it's largely a popularity contest
Wow those ratings don't look good. I wonder if the drop in ratings for the bachelor and bachelorette show dropped as much or more than Dancing with the Stars.

Great dances to dance, especially for them.

I think they will do well, Glitters. Milo is full of energy and very supple. He needs to refine his dancing a tad and Witney can help him there.

Re: Season 27
I want to say, the judging this week was worse than in Season 27. Not only was there that blatant judges' favoritism toward male contestants, but after the viewer votes were added in, there was an all-female bottom 5. At least the worst of the bottom 5 went home, but something needs to be done.

I thought Joe was worse than Nikki . I don't notice judge favoritism, but that's just me. Their votes don't count a whole lot anyway, do they? Unless the audience is swayed by them.

Going by the past winners - 13 males, 13 females, if the judges showed bias toward the men it didn’t really affect the outcome.

Re: Season 27
I'd all but given up on this show - until I decided to ffwd all the back stories and wasted time.
My pick, so far, is Alexis.
Funny thing happened. I was telling my daughter that a couple of the women (Mary Lou and Nancy) were surprisingly thick-waisted - Only to find out I had my tv adjusted to "zoom." When I changed it to "full," they both lost twenty pounds. And no, I'm not exactly lean myself. lol

Oh that’s funny, singly. I wish someone would un-zoom me!
I’m very partial to Alexis too but I fear all the attention will be on Juan Pablo and DeMarcus.

I think you're right. Juan Pablo is quite sexy. If young people are watching, they'll likely choose Milo. Do I have his name right? The only two I ever heard of b4 this season are Nancy and Mary Lou.

For a dance that Len said didn't have much actual Charleston in it, that was over scored.

Re: Season 27
Top three tonight, for me:
Milo - I would have kept watching if that dance had been 15 minutes long!
Juan Pablo
Alexis
Tanishe is good but that tango looked more like aerial acrobatics than dance.
Is it just me, or is one of the troupe dancers almost a ringer for Ryan Gosling?
