Season 22 Week 6 Empty Re: Season 22 Week 6

Oh boy.  Thanks for the info, SLA.  This could well have the makings of a total trainwreck!

Much as I love Doug Flutie, him and Bollywood seem like a match made in hell.  I'm also thinking Antonio is going to have trouble with the jive.  He just hasn't been putting in enough rehearsal time to get that down.  Judging from her quickstep, though, I expect Kim will handle the jive just fine.  Looking forward to seeing that one.  That's probably the one I most want to see.

I figure the four with jazz will all do okay, although I expect the women to do better than the men.  The Quickstep could be hard for Nyle.  It's so fast, and much as I adore him, he tends to stick his butt out and slouch when he dances, which would look awful in a Quickstep.

Jodie hurt her foot and had to go to the hospital trying to recreate one of the moves from that Pink routine.  Haven't heard how she's doing, so I have no idea if she'll even be able to dance.  If she broke or sprained the ankle, I doubt she'll be recovered enough.  Guess we'll find out in a few hours.

LOL!  I agree with you on Doug Flutie and Bollywood ~ I just hope he will surprise us in a positive way tonight.  I saw on another thread that Sharna said that Antonio has put in more practice time this week so maybe that will show in his performance tonight.

I really hope that Nyle does not have any problem with the Quickstep ~ he has been doing so well with all the other dances and am looking forward to him doing just fine with the Quickstep tonight.

Jodie has been cleared to dance tonight so we will see if the ankle is good to dance on tonight.

Season 22 Week 6 Empty Re: Season 22 Week 6

Post by LadyMustang65 Tue Apr 26, 2016 8:41 am

I was pleasantly surprised last night.  I thought everyone, Doug Flutie included, did a pretty good job.  That's relative in Doug's case, but I thought he did well.  He looked like he was having fun, and while he wasn't as crisp and sharp as Bollywood demands, he still gave it his all, and I enjoyed it.

What was up with Len and ragging on Nyle, though?  No one in our house who was watching thought Nyle was serious when he said Val was his competition.  It seemed pretty clear to us he was joking.  I'm glad Len made the points about Nyle's posture and stuff, though.  He needed to hear it so he could work on it.

Kim and Jodie were underscored . . . or some of the others were overscored.  They both did a great job and should not have been at the bottom.  I thought Antonio was overscored.  He did well, but it wasn't the best dance of the night.  It does seem like he's taking this more seriously, but I was annoyed at what he said to Sharna.  It seemed to go right over his head that he wasn't going to really be a contender doing things as half-assed as he had been.  Sharna knew it would take more effort than that if he wanted to win.

Still love Wanya.  Nyle did very well with the quickstep.  I was really surprised.  Doug was clearly the worst, but he was still enjoyable to watch.  I'm a little bit sorry to see him go.  Other than Antonio, who is not my favorite, at this point there's no one else I want to see go.  They're all doing really well and seem like a great group of people.  Potential-wise, this may be the best group of celebs they've ever had on the show.  Smile

I did hate to see Doug go because he is just such a nice person but he was the worst dancer.  At least he seemed to have fun doing the Bollywood but I didn't think their outfits were quite right for that dance - Doug looked like he was just in his everyday street clothes.

I thought that Nyle did just fine on the quickstep and it had to be hard for him dancing with that mask on when he was not able to practice at all with it on.  He got the majority of my votes again.

I also thought that Jodie did a great job and you would never know that she was injured with the performance she gave for that dance.  She and Keo seem to have a good relationship for working together.

Von, Antonio and Wanya all did a good job last night with Wanya killing it with his performance.  I do expect Wanya to do well because of him being part of the Boyz II Men (sp?) but he was really into that dance last night and it was really enjoyable to watch.

With Paige's dance training background she should do extremely well so I will not comment on her performance nor do I vote for her.  She is probably the producer's ringer to win this whole thing.

It is going to be a tough elimination next week with two couples going home.  I just hope Nyle is not one of them.  I worry about the comments that Len made hurting the voting for him.  I think this is probably the best group of contestants that this show has ever had at one time.

It is going to be hard next week. I worry that it will be Kim and Jodie leaving.  The judges seem to me to be consistently underscoring them.  I think Nyle will be fine.  Len's comments are likely to make people vote for him like crazy because Len was being 'mean.'

Season 22 Week 6 Empty Re: Season 22 Week 6

I actually agreed with Len, mustang.  Nyle's comments came off as arrogant, not joking - at least, to me.  And I love the guy and would like to see him win.  But when he said he had no competition, it figured he'd get a slap-down.  Nyle is all about conquering hurdles and new horizons.  As a result, his confidence radiates from him.  That music was so fast that when out of hold, he had sloppy arms, perhaps because the mask kept him from seeing Peta.

This season has thus far been the most enjoyable I've seen in quite some time.  There are no boobs passing off comedy as dance, and they all have varying degrees of talent.  Paige may be a ringer, as SLA suggested, but it's a pleasure to watch her.

As for Jodie's partnership, I'm sorry she got stuck with Keo.  He's a great dancer but stinks as a teacher.  The reason they did well this week is because the original choreographers were there to teach it.  I'd like to see them swap Keo with someone else from the troupe for next season.

I'm afraid Ginger's Jackson routine was a miss for me, though I loved her Disney routine as Belle.

Antonio lost my interest because he didn't seem to have any (interest.)  Wanya has talent but I mute anything with rap or hip hop music, so....

You can be sure that Peta will have a little chat with Nyle and get his feet back on solid ground. It's not Peta's way to show arrogance and Nyle will find that out (probably has already). I think he just got carried away with how well things were going and misspoke. And editing comes into it, too. The producers tend to manipulate things until they get what they consider an interesting or controversial quote. Remember what they did with Tamar last season.  He remains my favourite.

Season 22 Week 6 Empty Re: Season 22 Week 6

Hi Singly! Good to see you again.  It's funny how people see/hear things differently.  And it's hard with Nyle because you don't hear him say things.  It's his interpreter, who probably knows him very well at this point but still won't always put the right inflection on things.  I was watching Nyle, and he was smiling and laughing the whole time, and it honestly never even occurred to me that that might have been a serious comment because of the expressions on his face.  In any event it's good that he finally got some real constructive criticism because he does have issues.  I'm amazed at what he can do and how good much of it is, but he does have issues with posture and being sloppy at times.  It'll be interesting to see how he does in the group dance where he not only has to watch Peta but also the other couples as well to keep in sync with them.

I honestly wondered about the mask.  Why not just do face paint?  Would the audience have been able to tell the difference?  And it wouldn't have given him any problems with sight.
