This has been one crazy season. I remember watching this preview after this weeks episode and thinking that the things I read about the other day could very well be true this time. That he may be choosing based on "needing a wife, not a girlfriend" as his sister said. His own father says that Whitney is a sure bet but he thinks it's Becca that he wants. These things are coming from the people that know him best. That opening scene shows him getting a little upset with Becca because he obviously wants an "I'm all in" and he wants an answer NOW. Sorry Chris but life doesn't work that way. If I was Becca I would have said, "screw you" and just walked away. I wouldn't want to at a moments notice uproot my life either for a man I hardly knew. I know that there is scripting associated with this show but I don't think this man's complete desperation is an act. That scene at the end between Becca and Chris' mom doesn't look all that nice either. I wouldn't be surprised if Becca walked away at the end saying screw all this. They are trying to put a lot of pressure on her to do something she doesn't seem willing to do right away. I don't blame her. All I can say for Whitney is that she must have really fallen hard to want to do this....or she's desperate to get married and start a family too.

You know, Kaitlyn made that joke equating the FS to test-driving a car.  Do you suppose either of these women would test-drive living in Arlington before committing to a life there?

I'm thinking that that would be the ONLY way I'd go. They certainly couldn't let Chris doubt their 100% commitment to him and his way of life or he would be sure to send them packing. He wants a guarantee and there are no guarantees with this kind of thing. That's why I'm thinking he goes with practicality instead of what his heart is telling him and he is going to be upset if it doesn't work out. I will really be surprised at this point if the F1 stays for the long haul. I love country living but that would be too much for me and for most people I would think. I wouldn't mind it as much if that small town had little community things going on in it but it looked like it was a ghost town and boarded up. The only bar closed down which would leave not even being able to go and drink your loneliness away. lol. That's why him and his previous fiancee broke it off before the wedding....he realized that she was changing and wanted more than what that life offered. That is his choice for his life and that is his family that is there. He may have to make the choice one day...staying and working the farm and being lonely of female companionship and kids the rest of his life or sell out his stake in the farm and go to Des Moines or someplace else and get a different career and go from there.

rkc, you've reminded me of the spirit of the pioneer women, living all alone on a plot of land on the prairie.  No neighbors for miles.  It would be difficult to find a woman like that today, particularly on a show like this.

I really don't see Chris giving up the land.  It seems he'd be miserable anywhere else.  He might well end up alone when it's all said and done.  As others have said, he might do better on that match site for farmers.

There's a match site for farmers? LOL. I really don't see him giving up what has made him a lot of money either. Plus he seems very close with his family and I don't see him leaving that either. I would assume that whoever he chooses for a wife whether it be by this show or some other way that a big part of it would have to be becoming close to his family so they would have some sort of social interaction with SOMEONE. I don't even remember, other than the one sister that lives in another country altogether, did any of his other family members live in Arlington?

This article contains a spoiler, sort of.  It does not say who Chris chose at the end, but it does say the way he reached his final pick was somewhat different than previous seasons.

Yes, there's a farmers' match.  I see it advertised on tv.  After seeing how difficult it's been for Chris, I guess the farmers need one.  lol.

I don't recall if we ever learned where his siblings live.  There was certainly a houseful when he took Andi to his hometown.  Whether or not they lived nearby is not clear to me.

I just want to say something before we head into next weeks finale. There has been much discussion this season about Arlington, IA being a virtual ghost town and bigger cities being way too far to travel for work. I am starting to believe that that was the impression the producers were trying to give us for whatever the reason may be. I did some looking around due to curiosity and found out that there are at least 15 cities that their center is within 90 miles of Arlington. When you go to www.arlingtonia.com they mention two specifically. Cedar Rapids, IA has a population of over 128,000 and is 65 miles away and Waterloo, IA has a population of over 68,000 and is 60 miles away. Maybe not everyone would want to travel that distance to work every day but I know people that travel much further for a job they love. It's doable. Also, they mention the businesses and the community activities that go on in Arlington. Yes, it may be small but it's hardly a ghost town like the producers are having us believe.

You'd have to hold a gun to my head to make me travel 60 miles to work and 60 miles back every day.  But that's just me.  I'm sure there are people who would do it.  If I went to Arlington, it would be to immerse myself in the life that exists there.

rkc, there must be some basis regardomg the isolation, since Chris is so insecure about it.  There must be smaller towns around there where they can at least buy groceries.

I have no doubt that they have a grocery store. I'm sure they even have smaller towns that are closer that they can buy groceries or other things as well. I was only referring to bigger cities for more job opportunities in my previous post. If I didn't need a job I wouldn't work while living there. I happen to like small town living.

I can see Chris' insecurity about someone wanting to move to his small town. I would assume he would already be married and have a few kids if it wasn't for his previous fiancee changing her mind about living in Arlington.

I've had some thoughts about Jade.  The first being that she was hand-selected by his sisters.  Second, she's from a small town.  Third, she's the only one who got an Arlington date which included meeting his parents (and I'm sure others who didn't appear on camera.)  If not for her brother's comments (compounded by the nude photos), I think she would have gone all the way.

Whitney is the only other woman who's met anyone from his inner circle.  Does that really tell us anything?

Singly -- maybe Whitney meeting his friends was for them to ring in on what they thought of her, and for Chris to get some other opinions if he had any nagging doubts.  I only remember one other time when someone met friends, and I think it was Jason meeting Melissa's friends because her parents did not want to go on camera (correct me if I'm wrong).  I'm not really sure it tells us anything outright.

It made me feel Chris wanted a stamp of approval from those close to him - about someone he was seriously considering.  Jade and Whitney.  Then, her family blew it for Jade.  Whether he'll admit it or not, I think the nude photos had serious consequences.  He said his friends are very conservative.  Of course, that lame brother didn't help much.  He sounded like he was trying to warn Chris off.  I wonder how much a hellion she was growing up.  Giggle

Ignore the above. Couldn't figure out how to delete the post and it made me put something in it so hence the word "disregard" LOL

anyway....

I too have always believed he sent Jade home due to the Playboy thing even though he would never admit to it. Those closest to him are conservative as is the town folk in Arlington and he said that if he chose her that he would have to "deal with it" as in taking care of the situation and I think it just wasn't worth it to him since there were other girls he had feelings for. Whether Jade likes it or not she did come off as a shy timid girl and that compared to what her brother said was disturbing to him I'm sure even though he said he should have used other wording in his blog. He was told she was wild and that she moved out of a small town to move to LA to get into the entertainment/modeling industry and that she probably wouldn't want to move back to a small town...and we all know how sensitive Chris is to that. I just think she should have fessed up to the Playboy thing sooner and let the chips fall where they may. If she really did develop some sort of feelings for him than it would have saved her hurt as well. I am not a big fan of keeping secrets from someone you care about. She apparently also did some soft porn work for CHIVE. And not that Chris has any room to talk about alcohol arrests but apparently her criminal history was for a DUI, an arrest for possession of alcohol as a minor, and charged with 2 counts of theft
. Yes, she certainly is a mystery.

THE BACHELOR:

SEASON FINALE PREVIEW
Monday at 8/7c on ABC

IT’S ONE OF THE MOST ROMANTIC AND DRAMATIC NIGHTS EVER ON ABC, ON THE THREE-HOUR LIVE SEASON FINALE EVENT OF “THE BACHELOR,” MONDAY, MARCH 9

And Immediately Following the Exciting Season Finale, Chris, Becca and Whitney Look Back at the Dramatic Ending to Their Journey to Find Love, LIVE, on “The Bachelor: After the Final Rose”

Who Will Be the Next Bachelorette? Find Out on the Live “After the Final Rose” Special.

The compelling live three-hour television event begins as America will watch along with the studio audience as Chris Soules’ journey to find love comes to its astonishing conclusion. The Bachelor prepares to make one of the most difficult choices of this life, having narrowed down the field to two women – Becca and Whitney – both of whom he is falling in love with. Will Chris get down on one knee and propose to the woman of his dreams and make a life with her in Arlington, Iowa? Who – if anyone -- does a confused Chris, after much soul-searching, see as his future wife? And will he leave single or with the love on his life? Find out on the Season Finale of “The Bachelor,” MONDAY, MARCH 9 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

Immediately following the dramatic Season Finale, emotions run high as Chris sits down with Chris Harrison – LIVE -- to discuss his final two women of the season, Becca and Whitney. In this unpredictable special, the Bachelor takes us back to Arlington, Iowa, where he spent the emotional last days of his journey. Both women are back to sit with Chris to talk about the outcome of the show. It’s the live extraordinary ending to his adventure to find true love. In addition, the new Bachelorette will be revealed, live, on “The Bachelor: After the Final Rose,” also airing MONDAY, MARCH 9 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET).

Chris’ search for his soul mate is almost over and after many tears, drama and surprises -- it has come down to two fantastic women. One, who has never been in love, and the other, a determined career woman who says she will give up everything for Chris. The Bachelor brings both women to meet his family in hopes their insight will help him make the biggest decision of his life.

Whitney wins over Chris’ family with an emotional toast, but after she leaves, Chris confesses to his Dad his struggle of the heart. He explains how torn he is by strong feelings for both women and his heart is pulling him in two different directions.

When Becca is introduced to Chris’ family, they are skeptical about whether she is ready to take the final step and get engaged and move to Arlington. Still, they can see that Chris is smitten. More overwhelmed than ever, Chris needs the next few days to have some tough conversations with both women to try and decide if either is ready to become his wife.

Chris hopes his final dates with each woman will bring some clarity to his decision. The Bachelor spends his time with Becca trying to decipher the status of their relationship. He wants reassurance that she wants to be part of his life in Iowa. Will Becca be able to convince him that her feelings are real?

Chris offers Whitney a taste of farm life, including giving her a tour of his house. She reminds him of how much in love with him she really is. But will her eagerness to please raise more questions rather than strengthen Chris’ resolve to pick her as his future wife?

Will the Bachelor follow his heart? And once he makes his decision, will his love be reciprocated? It all comes down to whether Chris can decide between the two very different women. And if he does, will the final bachelorette accept his proposal and final rose?

The two remaining women are:

Becca, 25, chiropractic assistant, San Diego, CA
Whitney, 29, fertility nurse, Chicago, IL

Hosted by Chris Harrison, “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelor: After the Final Rose” are productions of Next Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television. Mike Fleiss, Martin Hilton and Alycia Rossiter are the executive producers. “The Bachelor” is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format, with 5.1 stereo surround sound.

And once he makes his decision, will his love be reciprocated?

That's a pretty revealing question - IF it's valid.  It spells B-E-C-C-A.

With the exception of Molly and Melissa, have they ever had both women at ATFR?  TPTB have become so notorious for bait-and-switch, one never knows what's true.  Perhaps he proposes to both - a proposal for more time with each before he decides.

The final two are always at the AFTR, be they men or women.  Supposedly it is to give the person who was not chosen a means of closure.  The only exception is when there is no AFTR due to the couple having broken up in the time following the FRC, such as in Travis Stork's season.

I think the writing is on the wall with this finale.

I'm just waiting for the announcement of the next 'ette and hoping it's Kaitlyn so it will stop these people that are getting vicious over wanting the cry baby to get the gig. Can't believe how many people have been suckered by Britt.

I thought Chris was desperate to get a commitment from Becca.    But I think she was realistic about not wanting to quit her job and move before determining if she was truly in love.  Last night, for the first time, however, I got the impression that something's amiss with her.  I saw a fear in her of taking that step toward commitment and letting down her protective walls.  Can't help but wonder if something in her past caused this, because her unwillingness to let go and experience love is puzzling.  Still, I think she's the one he wanted.

When Chris and Whitney were sitting on his couch and Whitney was going on and on about how much she loved him, his face was screwed up. I thought he was going to dump her.

I couldn't decide all night if Whitney reminded me more of a car salesman on speed or Tinkerbell, sprinkling love and fairy dust in her wake. By the end of the show, I actually had an aversion to her.  Everything she said was another blurb in the relentless self-promotion program.  She LOVES everything.  Everything about him.  Everything about Arlington.  Everything about his home.  She even loves the picture on the table.  Blech.  I wanted to smack her upside the head.

Can you imagine that voice when it lends itself to carping instead of praise?  OMG, I'd go out of my mind.  He can barely get in a word around her.  Imagine when she starts complaining.

In MHO, I think Chris settled.

So what do you think of the Bachelorette news?  A show designed to further humiliate one of these girls.  The audience response to Britt was subdued until the question was asked the second time.  I got the idea the applause sign came on.  lol.

Britt will give them each one of those hugs of "promise of things to come."  And Kaitlyn will be left in the dust.  I can understand why she said "It isn't ideal."  No way I'd want to be up against the beauty of Britt when guys have one night to decide.  It's going to be a superficial choice - and Britt is also quite good at saying what a guy wants to hear.  If they choose her, I'll have to tune out.  I don't see any romance with Britt ending well.
