Season 23 - Week 3 Empty Re: Season 23 - Week 3

Post by LadyMustang65 Mon Sep 26, 2016 10:31 am

Thanks for posting this, SLA.  I'm honestly trying to figure out how they're going to get all that done in an hour.  The show is short tonight because of the debates.  I'd also like to see them use the same music.  I think it's an easier comparison in case one song is great for that music but the other one isn't.  Maybe they thought we'd get too bored.

Here are my predictions for who will get immunity:

Jana, Laurie, Calvin and Vanilla Ice I think will win their face-offs.

James vs. Ryan is a tougher call for me.  James has so far been the better dancer, but Ryan has shown promise, and for me you can never count Cheryl out.  She has worked wonders with people in the past.  But I give a slight edge to James.

Maureen vs. Amber - honestly, no clue.  If Maureen from last week shows up, I give her a slight edge.  Amber so far seems reluctant to really relax.  But I think of all the couples their skill level is most equal, as is the choreographic/teaching skills of those two pros.  I think that one could go either way.

Season 23 - Week 3 Empty Re: Season 23 - Week 3

You bring up a good point about the music LM and that could give someone an edge over the other one.

I agree with your predictions but I was giving the advantage to James over Ryan.  Between Maureen and Amber I don't have a clue.  You are right about if the Maureen from last week shows up she would have the edge over Amber.

I am really sorry that Maks came back and got partnered up with someone where there is no chemistry or connection at all.

Season 23 - Week 3 Empty Re: Season 23 - Week 3

What a beautifully streamlined show!

My picks:

Jana over Babyface.

For me, Laurie and Marilu were neck-and-neck.  Laurie's music was too fast for the dance, but Marilu's performance was surprisingly good.  The lady can dance.

James vs Ryan was no contest.  James, hands down.

Terra's waltz seemed awkward compared to last week's QS.  The height difference was glaring but Sasha did a great job.  I thought Calvin would get the immunity.

Maureen improves each week.  For me, an acceptable rendition.  However, I thought Amber lost points on Maks' vulgar choreo.  (And I'm a Maks fan!)  The girl has a habit of "floating her elbows at waistline, with hands pulled in protectively.

For Rick and Vanilla - pretty bad on both sides.

That's all from here, folks.

Season 23 - Week 3 Empty Re: Season 23 - Week 3

Post by LadyMustang65 Tue Sep 27, 2016 9:59 am

I was amazed they got through last night, but it had to be so streamlined to get there.  I honestly wouldn't want it that streamlined every week, but it was a nice change of pace.  I still think they should have used the same music for the head-to-head.

I think the music played a part in Maureen over Amber.  Maureen's was a nice, classic salsa, which I really liked.  I thought Amber had her best dance so far, but between the music and the costuming, it didn't really feel like a salsa.  And I agree that Maks' choreo was not the best for that dance, although I thought Amber danced it well.  And I thought she looked really gorgeous in that wig.

I was surprised the judges tied Rick and Vanilla.  No, neither was good, but to me Vanilla Ice was smoother in his moves and had more difficult choreo.

I think the one place we really disagree is James/Ryan.  I didn't think the point difference was that great.  I actually liked Cheryl's choreo better than Sharna's.  I thought both guys danced it good but not great.  I gave a slight edge to James because I think his choreo was a bit harder, even though I didn't like it as much.  So I had James a point or two at most ahead of Ryan.  I think the 4-point difference was bogus.

I was surprised when I went to vote that the website allowed you to vote for all 12 couples.  Why bother when 6 couples had immunity and couldn't leave?  So I just voted for the losing couples I wanted to see remain and didn't vote at all for any of the winners.

Season 23 - Week 3 Empty Re: Season 23 - Week 3

Yeah, singly, the right guy went home.  It's getting much harder now as so many of the couples are good but not great and show a lot of promise.  My best guess is Ryan, Amber or Vanilla Ice will leave next.

Next week sounds really interesting.  I'm looking forward to it.  Smile
