Re: DWTS Season 21 - Finals (nights one and two)
The first series of dances was thoroughly enjoyable, however, I think Alek fell a little short and deserved the 9's.
So...freestyle? Sorry. The only one I really liked was Bindi's. Her lines and form were beautiful. She looked like a skilled dancer. While I know some of you still resent Derek's golden boy status, I've noticed his demeanor toward Bindi. Have never seen such a bond between him and a partner. He's emotionally involved with her and seems like a proud papa.
My time was short last night, so I had to speed through the rehearsals and many of the comments. Had to zip through after my visiting son went up to bed. There seems to have been a backstory to Bindi's dance but I don't know what it was (if any.) It just appeared that everyone was quite emotional when it was over.
As mustang knows, I do not like hip hop, so those freestyles were lost on me. Again, was not impressed with Alek on his number. I thought he should have gone home instead of Carlos.
That's all, folks!

Re: DWTS Season 21 - Finals (nights one and two)
Hello to anyone who sees this!! Sorry I've been MIA. Last Monday I had my first partial knee replacement (left knee) and was out cold during the finale, which was ok because with the Patriots playing on Monday night, we didn't see DWTS live in this area anyway. The next night I was still mostly sleeping, so I was in and out and finally just got a chance to watch the 4 hours of the finale and see who won.
I thought they all did a nice job with their judge's re-do, but I agree that Alek still had issues and should have been scored a bit lower. I enjoyed all the freestyles, but I have to admit that I liked Bindi's the least. She danced it beautifully, but I really can't stand the emotional manipulation that went into it. I just generally like the more upbeat and fun freestyles - Bindi's was just another angst-filled contemporary, which is my least favorite style on DWTS. I thought it was really sweet and fun that Carlos brought back some of the other contestants. Alek was Alek and lacks nuance, but Lindsey did a great job, I thought, of choreographing to his strengths. Nick's was a blast. I was surprised but not terribly much that Carlos ended up in 4th. Ability-wise he certainly shouldn't have, but Americans do love their 'heroes.'
I was very surprised there was no reprise of a freestyle. Have they done that before? Also have they ever had the final 3 couples re-do a favorite dance of theirs before? The skit with Gary as Santa and Victor as the elf was funny. Overall, I really enjoyed the two nights of show. I can't really argue with Bindi's win. With Tamar out, she was the best dancer left and the most consistent. Nick was hit or miss as was Carlos, and Alek had his moments but also was not consistent.
Looking forward to next season. I really hope they keep Allison on the shelf and maybe give Jenna a chance at being a pro.

That sounds like a very painful surgery - hope that you are doing better now.

Thanks, SLA. It'll be several weeks before things are really back to 'normal,' but I'm mobile enough to be back at work today. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. < lol >
