That is why I think The Voice is the better of the two singing contests. The judges (if that is the correct term for them) have no idea of what the person looks like behind the voice and therefore are going strictly on voice alone when they either choose to hit their button or not.

These folks have always made it clear they're looking for the "complete package." The Beeb wouldn't have risen to such popularity if he were ugly. If they don't have a heartthrob, they don't see success. Come to think of it, look at those with great voices who didn't reach any heights after this show.

The American public has been conditioned to believe that looks are everything. As oldsters, we better understand what goes on and are able to see true talent - even if it's within someone who is not outwardly beautiful or handsome. But we're less likely to buy the music.

The youngsters will have the final word. I admit it. Unless I REALLY love someone and see they're on the verge of leaving, I don't pick up the phone. Too many speed-dialers and phone-in parties. I'd really like to see them limit the vote as they on DWTS.

I agree with the voting and they do need to limit the vote. They have put a limit of 50 on the app but that only applies to using the Iphone I guess. 50 also seems like a lot to me - why not 10 or 20? I still like the way they do it on The Voice better. Silent

I never have liked the voting system. It's really comes down to how many people have voters on their side that is willing to sit there and vote 50 times. I think it should be one vote per person. That is the only way that it will ever be more accurate. People have complained over the years that the majority of the winners are males. That's because the majority of fans are the teeny-bopper females that tend to vote based on cuteness and not necessarily talent.

With that being said, I think the two that I think have the most talent this year are Kree and Candice.

I do not even watch AI because it was obvious that whoever was the cutest won the show because it is teenage girls voting for their favorite. I am with SLA44 I love The Voice.

I'm out of luck for The Voice. I watch DWTS and tape Bones. I get to choose only two. So, it would come down to choosing The Voice over DWTS. Phooey!

I wonder if there are any you could later watch online? I've watched the highlights of DWTS later on the ABC site, which cuts out all the commentary, which can be nice. Current episodes of Bones was difficult to find. Don't know about The Voice.

That's a good suggestion Ugh and I have watched performances from The Voice on-line when I missed the show because I was watching DWST. I don't know about Bones because I have never watched it but I do know The Voice has it's own site on NBC.

LOL, ugh. I spend WAY too much with TV as it is. I've disciplined myself to not watching during the day. I already spend half my morning on the boards. I need another life! I'm off to do something constructive.

Count me in on The Voice Whit and SLA.. I like how the judges handle the contestants with words of encouragement. The dynamics this season with Usher and Shakira added to the panel of judges WORKS, I wasn't sure if I"d be crazy about Shakira but she's fabulous. She is beautiful on the outside too!

I'd like to put a sock in Nicki Minaj's. mouth. She can sing but I cringe when she speaks. I saw her high school graduation photo, she was very pretty then.

I just deleted Idol from my play list. I was going to add The Voice, but found a Sunday night conflict. I will NOT give up Revenge or TWD. Darn. Why does all the good stuff have to be on at the same time.

I concur about Nicki. When she speaks, my teeth are on edge. And when they show Mariah, I swear I can see thoughts zooming over her head. Whoosh!

I was surprised when I heard Keith Urban was going to be a urge on Idol, I thought he'd be a better fit on The Voice. He has an amazing voice and I love some of his music. Mariah is clueless, does she even know why she's there? Randy, still continues to call the contestants "dawg" which makes him sound like a novice instead of a professional in the music industry. Back to Nicki.....I'm so glad my remote has a mute button. Her voice is annoying, butchering the English language the way she does is simply unforgivable.

I believe The Voice has given Idol fierce competition, I quit watching it for a few years, I couldn't stand seeing teenagers and young adults slaughtered by Simon Cowell and his 3 cronies. Constructive criticism would have been helpful, crushing self confidence and beating the contestants down to a pulp and then stomping them down further isn't my idea of entertainment. The man has such a mean spirit, it's amazing he has children of his own. A small word of encouragement can go a very long way. Do you know what the ratings are for The Voice versus American Idol?

I noticed last night there is a thread titled The Voice. I was thrilled when Cassidee Pope won last year.

Go to NBC.com and watch it online. There is only one redundant commercial. What is TWD?

I love Downton Abbey so much that I would give up every show (including The Bachelor/tete) to see it. I can't wait for its return so I'm re watching it on Netflix. If anyone else is a Downton fan you should watch the 4 parodies called Downton SIXBEY with Jimmy Fallon on youtube.

The Voice is on Monday and Tuesday nights so if you are a DWTS viewer that is the only thing it goes against and The Voice is winning in the ratings .

I think The Voice is a much better show than American Idol and I really like Blake Shelton! I like the format where the contestants are picked for their voice and talent only where I think with American Idol appearance plays a big part in their selection to continue on. I think Keith Urban is the best judge on American Idol and am afraid he wishes he weren't around the 2 divas, I'm sure I''ve seen him roll his eyes a few times. He seems like such a nice human being and not full of himself like the 2 divas and Randy Jackson.

I think all four coaches on The Voice will get along very well this year and am surprised by how well I like the 2 new coaches and how well they just fit right in from the very start. I will look forward to discussing it with you further on The Voice Thread which we need to get going!

When I tried to set my DVR, it showed The Voice airing on Sunday, at least this week. I'll have to check again. Thanks.

Yes Blake does seem like a truly nice guy and he has helped contestants that he has coached even though they haven't won. The Voice is on Monday and Tuesday nights so I don't know why you DVR showed it as airing on Sunday.
