SYTYCD Season 2015

DirectTV is making me nuts!!  It decided not to tape last night's episode.  Every week, I have to check the "to-do" list to make sure my shows are scheduled to tape.  I missed this one.  This DVR has a mind of its own.  It will decide, at random, not to tape.  Grrr.

Well, that sucks, singly.  This week's show was a mixed bag.  There were some really wonderful dances and some really bad ones.  Fish burlesque anyone?  Yeah, not good.  Jim, who I know you like, was gorgeous in a lovely dance with Yourelis, who unfortunately got cut this week.  Kate and Alexia left on the stage team, and Adriana left along with Yourelis for Team Street. 

I find it somewhat interesting (suspicious?) that with the prevalence of female dancers this time around, we have still managed to go into the top 10 with 5 males and 5 females.  Coincidence?  I have to wonder.  

Anyway, next week should bring us the all stars!  Yay!! 

Oh and Nigel and Jason were kind of pissy and grumpy.  They both were at times I thought unnecessarily hard on the dancers.  For the most part, the things that went wrong with the dances were the fault of the choreographers rather than the dancers.  They all mostly performed fairly well, but there's only so much even a really experienced dancer can do with crappy choreography.

I hate when they blame the dancers for bad choreo!  And I'm glad to learn Jim did well.

Fish burlesque?????

It's always bugged me that they keep the boys and girls separate.  An inferior dancer can stay while the better dancer goes home - all so they can keep the sexes even.  Doesn't make good sense.

I'll be sure to check my dvr for next week!

There have been some good ones.  You should at least check out Jim's dance with Yourelis since you like him, and it was a good dance.

I only watched Jim and Ja-Ja last night.  Thoroughly enjoyed both.  Given Ja-Ja's personality and projection, I wouldn't be surprised to see her win the whole bag.

I thought last night was a pretty good episode.  I liked most of the dances.  Jaja was great and really kept up with Alex Wong, who is perhaps the best dancer they've ever had.  I still love him.  I thought Jim did a good job, but the choreography wasn't the best.  Virgil and Comfort were fun, I loved seeing Joshua and Jasmine again.  I thought Megz did well with Marco.  I'm not sure where this will end up.  There are several that I think could take it.  Jaja is certainly at the top of the list along with Gaby and Jim.  Virgil is another Fik-shun type who could sneak in there based on charm alone.  It will be interesting.

I, too, have been impressed with Gaby.  Virgil has a fun-loving, merry twinkle in those eyes.

I watched Jim, Gaby and JaJa.  They're the only ones I'm interested in.  All were great!

Those are my top three as well, Singly.  I also like Megz.  I know she's struggling a bit, but if memory serves, she also the only one left who hasn't had a lot of cross-training, so I give her props for doing as well as she is.

I just saw that they apparently removed the DWTS forum that was in the Other section like this forum.  I wrote the moderators to ask if they would consider putting it back.  I don't know about anyone else, but I have no interest in wading into that other board at all.  I just tried again today, and I couldn't.  I'm guessing they probably won't do it, but I'm hoping they will.

Anyway, for anyone who is interested in that other show, they announced that Bindi Irwin, Steve Irwin's (Crocodile Hunter) daughter, will be in the new cast.  Don't know who she'll be assigned to yet, though.  Also Kacy Catanzaro is rumored to be among the cast.  I'd love it if that were true.

I'm sure we have MANY people on this forum who watch DWTS as religiously as they do the Bach.

Singly - I've been meaning to ask - is the flower one you've grown yourself?  It's gorgeous.

Yes, the hollyhock is one I've grown.  I have many colors.   The yellow and lavendar, though, have died out.  Along with tall pink hibiscus, they line my fence.  If anyone wants seeds......

Very nice.    The only thing I'm growing right now is weeds.  :\

Okay, off topic again - Victor Espinoza, the Triple-Crown winning jockey, is the second celebrity confirmed for the new season of DWTS.  Rumor is that he will be paired with Karina, although that's all it is.  As far as I can tell, he's shorter than all the female pros, so it will be interesting.

Despite the fact that I'm nearly 6' tall, I find it unpleasant to see a routine in which the woman towers over the guy.  Also, I don't like seeing the older women/young men in dances which are supposed to be sensual and sexy.  Both scenarios lose a sense of balance.

How will a tiny little jockey ever accomplish any lifts?

If they pair him up correctly, it shouldn't be too noticeable as long as the pro wears flats.  Victor is 5'2".  Both Witney and Allison (I wouldn't wish her on anyone but someone is going to be stuck with her since she's back again) are listed as being 5'3".  So they could potentially get away with it.  He'd probably be best paired with Witney because she seems to me anyway to be much smaller than Allison.  I was surprised to find out they're the same height.  Physically he should have the strength to do the lifts.  Jockeys are generally way stronger than people give them credit for given their size.  But if they pair him with a much taller pro, I don't think it would work at all.

Two more celebs have been announced, and I don't know either of them.  Nick Carter (who apparently was the youngest member of The Backstreet Boys) has been announced.  So has Hayes Grier, who is apparently a "Vine" star?  I've vaguely heard Vine mentioned but have no idea what it is other than some kind of social media site.  So he's another Bethany Mota type. 

It also means we'll have two teens this year - Bindi Irwin is 17 and Hayes is 15.  I'd be tempted to say they'll give Hayes to Witney since she at least appears closer to his age.  I think he's just way too young for any of the other pros, unless they plan to bring in a new female pro.  So far they have not announced all of the pros.

There's some beautiful dancing tonight.  The choreography still isn't wowing me too much, but these final 6 are gorgeous dancers.

Tonight, all 20 of my votes are going to Gaby.

I could watch an entire two hours of just Jim dancing.  Since he's gone, so am I. 

I have to say I really haven't been into this season.  The teams have put me off from the outset.  And so, I bid you adieu.

I split mine between Gaby and Jaja.  Virgil is fine, but he reminds me too much of Fik-shun.  Hailee has never done anything for me.  I absolutely cannot believe Jim did not make the finale.  I prefer Megz to Virgil but I had prepared myself for Virgil to beat her out.  I never in a million years even considered that Jim might not make it.  Since Day One I figured he was a lock.  Just such a gorgeous dancer.  That is a real travesty - America got it wrong with him.  Boo, America!

I hope some ballet or dance troupe swoops him up.

I have absolutely no doubt they will.  He has gorgeous lines, and he just floats in his leaps.  I simply cannot imagine him not doing very well for himself.
