If Nik is still alive somewhere (original or recast) and Val didn't really kill Laura's son, then I can accept his pitiful background and Nina's overwhelming love for him.
But if he did kill Nik, just to take Spencer's inheritance away. then I don't care what Nina thinks or what Anna remembers.
