Joe and Jenna- not the best QS of the night. He’s gotta get better quick. I don’t think he will be the first one gone but he doesn’t really have staying power.

The judges liked DeMarcus more than I did I guess. Not that I dislike him, I believe he will develop into an excellent dancer.

Grocer Store Joe is nice & personable, but he wasn't kidding when he said he couldn't dance. The only thing that may keep him in is he popularity.

I didn't watch the whole two hours but I watched Joe dancing. I liked seeing him dance, even though he can't.

They were great. I also loved Witney and Milo. I watched their dance a couple of more times. Loved the choreography.

Nikki and Gleb gone, not unexpected. GS Joe will likely hang in there a few weeks based on his huge popularity.
I missed Alexis’ and Alan’s dance on Mon. night but based on what I saw last night this girl is great. Because she’s up against the Hunk Twins, Juan Pablo and DeMarcus I fear she will get lost in the dust.
My fearless prediction: DeMarcus will win.

Only maybe because he is a football player. There is still a lot of show left. What about Milo? I don't even remember DeMarcus that much. I don't know if he has enough charisma. This is why I don't like 2 shows a week. The second show is mostly rehash and filler until we find out who leaves.

We might see the newest pros, Alan and Brandon battling it out because imo both Alexis and Tinashe have all it takes. And if anyone could give them a run for their money, it's the Utah Girls with DeMarcus and Milo. Most probably no title defence for Jenna, and once again no mbt for Sharna.

Anybody rooting for Nancy McKeon? I see her on Facts of Life on cable tv sometimes. She's the only other celeb I've watched so far besides Joe. I thought she was pretty good.

So I haven't watched Dancing with the Stars much. Why do the various pairs do different dances from each other the first week, quickstep, cha-cha-cha, et cetera? Is it hard or fair for the judges and others to compare their dancing when the levels of difficulty may not be the same? lol surely there's lots of other things that can make the judging unfair, but I was just curious

I can't help myself, but Cheryl has had partners like him before (you know, the Latin hunk type) and they often turn out to be one trick ponies. Emily's health is fine, but you can tell she's missing her sister. They've been together since the day they were born, so that's only natural. I hope she will get over it, but it probably takes time.

I don’t think Tinashe will be much of a threat to win it all. She has extensive dance training and you know that causes a backlash of criticism. Technically, she has no ballroom experience but she has in every other dance form and with that training it is an easy transition to ballroom. She’s excellent and I will enjoy her dancing as long as she is there.
I don’t think Bobby and Sharna have a hope but they will have fun and take us along for the ride!

Nancy may not be my favorite, but I find her much more appealing than Mary Lou, and I definitely think she was underscored. Val's choreo was jam packed for week one, and she coped with it nicely.skt8word wrote:My condolences for Pebbles. Rest in peace.

To your question about the dance styles, the answer is ratings. DWTS is a competition (at least kind of,) but above all it's an entertainment show. Anyone who is not a ballroom judge or professional dancer will probably find it quite fatiguing to watch thirteen foxtrots in a row. There has to be variety to keep the visitors interested. What they could do though is not eliminate anybody week one (like on Strictly) and make sure couples that danced Latin first get ballroom next and vice versa. However, this show isn't meant to be fair. They like drama and shocking eliminations.

The other thing I notice with this show compared to World of Dance is that pretty much everyone has a big personality, especially the judges. WOD is not so concerned with big personalities. And I certainly like the variety of dances on DWTS. People can always turn to PBS if they want real competitions, but I don't find those shows have much pizzazz. I like what they do with DWTS.
