Later on that night, after nearly
all of the couples had drifted inside, away from the bonfire, and after Jesse
had led Mary-Margaret away down the beach with a thoughtful look on her face,
and with low whispers between them, Brian and Toni remained behind, warmed by
each other and the still-crackling flames.

They laid out several of the
blankets, rolled up a couple more as pillows, and settled under 2 warm velour
throws, to talk and ask each other questions, and to wonder what other
surprises Chris would have in store for all of them.

“When you think of it, Bry, so very,
very much has happened to us in just 3 short weeks,” Toni said quietly as she
nestled up beside him.

“I know. It feels longer, doesn’t
it? It feels like I’ve known you for months, Toni, when we only had our first
real date just a few days ago.”

Kissing her forehead, he said, “It
feels like I am where I belong, here beside you, like you are the puzzle piece
that fits like no other, right here in my arms, fitting perfectly along my side
and my chest.”

Toni was sleepily and quietly
enjoying the rise and fall of Brian’s chest as she lay beside him, and she
could hear the muffled sounds of his voice as he spoke in low tones, from his
chest and from his diaphragm. Soon she had drifted off, and in one of those
times that seems like it must be an hour-long dream but is really only moments,
Toni dreamed.

She and M were in the villa, looking
for a rag because Martin had dropped an egg while making a protein shake. For
some reason, no ABC staff were around to clean it up. They searched for
anything they could find, finally deciding they would sacrifice a couple of
clean beach towels but they had to climb a ladder to get them off the uppermost
shelf of the really tall, two-story linen closet. Luckily, there was a ladder
right outside the villa leaning against a palm tree.

Jesse was out there, too, with a
glass of wine, swishing it around gently, and sniffing it, commenting on its
“bouquet.” When Toni asked if Jesse could carry the ladder in, he said he had
to wait for the baby to come over, that he was babysitting that day. M started
crying then, in the dream, and ran down to the ocean’s edge, where Brian was
surfing into shore on the roof of a small dollhouse that had “For A Doll” in
big bright letters across the front of it.

M was still crying and wailing, “Oh
Me, Brian! Save Me! Brian, Make Room For Me On Your Feet!! Oh Good Knight!”

She repeated it a couple of times,
and then became more quiet and peaceful, until Toni was roused out of her
sleep, realizing that Jesse and M were standing over her and Brian, and M was
saying, “Toni? Brian? ….Do you see me? Brian, can you make room for Jesse in
your suite? … Well, good night.”

Toni giggled quietly and re-cuddled
up to Brian, as she realized she had just dreamed bizarrely what M had been
saying, and what M and Brian had been talking about. She and Brian laughed
about her dream, and when she asked him how long she’d been out, Brian said it
had been about 2 minutes, was all.

On the Saturday morning after the Food Challenge, Chris visited each Villa where he announced, “Since the Tribal Councils will now decide who goes home each week, there will be no more Rose Ceremonies. However, we will still have a Monday Evening Cocktail Party at the Clubhouse, just for socialization with both tribes. Meanwhile, each Tribe can go on a group date of your choice either today or tomorrow. So, decide what you’d like to do and we’ll make all of the arrangements.”

On Saturday morning, after Chris had gathered everyone and told them of the group date that evening, he asked Toni if he could talk to her alone.

They walked a bit down the beach,
while Chris gave her the troublesome news that the folks in the South Villa now
had 6 or 8 or maybe a dozen, who knew by now, immunity idols. And he felt that
Toni should maybe get her team in gear and find at least one of them, so they
would at least stand a chance in any group competition that might throw a north
villa bach/ette off the show UNLESS they had an idol in hand or donated to
them.

Toni lamented the fact that no one
in the North Villa had any experience with Survivor, and they weren't even
thinking about it, much less LOOKING for an idol! But she said she'd have a
little chat with them.

She needed to anyway, since they had
to come up with a group date for the evening. So she stood by one of the doors
in to the North Villa, and noticed that everyone had gathered on the beach
close to the water ~ everyone but Brian. He had noticed the exchange with
Chris, and waited for Toni's return.

"What's up?" he asked.

"The South Villa team has a
dozen or so Immunity Idols already, Bry. If we don't find at least one, we
won't stand a chance if the competition allows immunity with an idol."

Brian made like he was surfing
unsteadily, and laughing, said, "Then I guess there's no surfing for you
and me today, eh?"

Toni smiled at his pantomime, then
laughed aloud when the image of his doing that reminded her of the goofy dream
she'd had the night before, of Brian on the roof of a house. She recounted that
again to Brian, and then in mid-laughter, described the house he was surfing,
and could hardly get out "For A Doll," the words that were painted on
the front of the house.

The way she said it, mumbling and
laughing at the same time, made it sound like "For Idol" to Brian,
and he grabbed her arms and pointed that out.

"What?" she asked.
"What could that mean? The roof? On a surfboard? What?"

Brian just shrugged, and they stood
looking at each other. There had been times before in her life when Toni had
dreams that seemed to have hidden meaning that held clues to questions she
might have been pondering. Like the time when she was a junior in high
school, and was trying to decide what colleges to apply for. One night she'd
had a very vivid dream that it was the first day of college, and she was
walking down a tree-lined walk, under a beautifully-detailed stone and iron
archway, toward an old, classic stone building at the end of the lane.

Days later, when she received a
packet she'd sent for from Northwestern, she was mystified and
goose-bumped to see that the front cover of the catalog showed the
beautiful archway on Sheridan Road in Evanston, the invitation to
enter the campus of Northwestern. It was the same arch that she'd passed under
in her dream.

Now, standing here with Brian, trying to
piece together the dream in the hopes that it might lead to the Immunity
Idol, Toni had several ideas. And she and Brian began exploring them

Hi
Silver, S&T, Travy and Chip, Sorry about my absence but things have
been "happening" !!! I haven't even had a chance to read the
story, so tell me what is happening. Maybe I can pick up and end my part
with Steve and Sarah; M and Jesse, or I notice that you have written something
about M, Silver. Thanks so much, so sorry! What do I need to do?

At first Toni thought the roof that
Brian had been "surfing" had to be a significant thing, because Chris
had said "look high and low." So she and Brian got as far back as
they could, and scanned the roof. Nothing, but nothing, looked out of the
ordinary.

From where they stood, they then
looked at the Romantics tribe all playing in the surf and on the beach, or
lying under umbrellas in the sun, or sunning themselves, and Leo, who had just
emerged from the water with Rayne, hollered up to Brian and asked him if he
could bring out some more beach towels.

"YEAH, OK, IN A MINUTE,"
Brian hollered back, then turned back to Toni, who had already pensively moved
towards the villa.

"Maybe it's along the floor in
one of the rooms .... low, you know?" Toni suggested. "In my dream,
Martin dropped an egg on the floor. Kitchen floor maybe!!!???"

They both went in, and Brian said
he'd go get the towels for Leo while Toni looked low in the kitchen.

Shortly, Brian was back for a step
stool because, he told Toni, "The only clean towels left are on the top
shelf."

Toni stood straight up!
"WHAT?! In my dream, M and I had to get a ladder to get to the
towels, remember?"

They both hurried with the stool to
the bathroom, and Brian climbed up while Toni carefully held his legs. Brian
reached up and gently took out one, then two towels, reached back onto the
shelf, and hit something not quite so downy soft with his hand!

He got an excited and giddy look on
his face, and Toni said, "What! What!"

Brian cradled it as much as he could
in his hand, and handed it down to Toni while he got off the step stool. Toni
excitedly unwrapped the paper around whatever-it-was, and breathed in an
excited breath when it turned out to be a miniature house!! Across it read
"IDOL."

Toni was smiling the biggest smile,
hardly believing that her dreams had come true, sort of, once again,
AND hardly believing that they'd gotten an Idol (and IMMUNITY!). Brian
could only look at her and say, "Well, holy cow!! You did it, Babe!"

And he grabbed her and the idol and
the two clean towels and they went running down the beach to show the other
Romantics the little idol!

Silver, beautiful writing! I could smell the smoke of that bonfire while I listened to the crickets and the frogs! LOL! Looks like the North Villa is upping their game! I’ve been busy, but also needed a break. Thanks for picking up the story and moving it along. Mackey, welcome back! Lubs, S&T

The women's villa was on high
alert. A groundskeeper had noticed a suspicious man lurking around the
area. She immediately notified Chris and Chris in turn alerted Brian to
the man. After making plans and looking out and seeing who the stalker
was, Brian had a plan. It was in play.....

Sarah had decided to take a walk around the grounds knowing that she was being
closely watched by Brian and his group as well as the stalker. Suddenly Sarah
was grabbed by her stalker, she screamed, alerting Brian to come out of hiding.
Immediately they nab the stalker and arrest him. Sarah sees Steve and
runs to him throwing her arms around him' she's crying with fear about also
with relief. "I've got you, baby! Steve says holding her
close. "I've got you, and I'm not letting you go!" He
kisses her with all the love in his heart. "Baby, I was so afraid
for you, I love you Sarah and I'm not about to let you go." He looks
into her eyes questioning her, hoping that she is feeling the same. "Oh
Steve, I love you too; thank God you and Brian were nearby. I'm so
relieved that this is over with. They have him now, he will never bother
me again." They walk towards Brian, Sarah runs to him and gives him
a big hug. "Thank you so much Brian, thank you for all your help and
you and Steve giving me the strength to go through with this. I
have two wonderful guys who mean the world to me." She kisses Brian
on the cheeks, he smiles and turns to Steve. "Congratulations Steve,
now take your lady and enjoy the rest of this journey. I don't think we
have anything to worry about from here out."
Steve, Sarah and Brian walk away towards to villa arm in arm.

With Sarah's problems out of the way, she and Steve decide to leave the
villa and after accepting a 10 day trip to Hawaii, they leave to enjoy a new
life together. Down the road, they will marry and Brian will be Steve's
best man. They will decide to live in San Diego where they will become
friends and neighbors to Jackson and Mimi and Roberto and Ali.

This ends Mackey's story. Mary-Margaret
and Jesse will remain at the villa with Silver carrying on their love
affair.

S&T, Silver, Travy and Chip, I've enjoyed with so much. Sorry for the
sudden ending but I know you all understand. Take care and remember I Lub
you, BFITWWW!!!

After discussing a number of possibilities, the Jeopardy Tribe decided to begin their group date with a break from the beach scene. On Saturday afternoon, they piled into a stretch limo and headed for Ice Town on La Jolla Avenue. The rink had been closed to the public for the day, just for their date. Upon arrival, they were issued figure skates. While they strapped on their skates, there were varied reactions. “I’m so glad we decided to do this. I love skating!” said Jenny. “Well, you got the skating gene, Sis! I’m going to be falling all over the place,” declared Penny. “No, you won’t,” said Corey. “You can lean on me, Babe!” Penny paused to buzz Corey’s cheek with a flurry of soft kisses. “I haven’t skated since I was about ten,” said Lindsey. “It’s all in the ankles,” Faith told her. Be sure you tie your laces tight, but not too tight.” “Figure skating,” said Cliff, “is not my sport, but I’ll give it a try.”

When they got out on the ice, they were in for a huge treat. Waiting for them, were Tara Lipinski, Sasha Cohen, along with Evan Lysacek. “We’re here to give you a lesson in figure skating,” Evan said, brushing back his blue black locks with one hand. After his stint on Dancing With The Stars, Evan had a special relationship with ABC and had been more than happy to help out today. The next hour was a dream course in figure skating, while the Olympic stars demonstrated the basics and helped the Bachelors and Bachelorettes as they tried them out.

The lesson was followed by a half hour of time on the ice to free skate. “I’ve never been able to skate backwards, before!” Carrie told Charlie. “You’re doing great!” he said, skating by her side. Greg was a whiz on the ice, having played hockey for so many years. Lindsey found if she took things slowly, she could keep her balance. It felt great to skate the circumference of the rink. It was a sensation akin to flying. Corey kept his word and helped Penny stay on her feet. Jenny and Troy took center ice with some fancier skating moves. As their time for free skating came to an end, the ten remaining members of the Jeopardy tribe joined hands and traveled from one end of the rink to the other, symbolizing their unity and friendship.

“Tara Lipinski and Sasha Cohen were so nice!” said Faith. “And Evan was so dreamy,” added Lindsey. “Hey, what about me?” asked Cliff. “Oh, you should know by now, you’re my favorite dreamboat!” Lindsey replied, squeezing his hand. “This hot chocolate is delicious!” Penny told her sister. Jenny nodded as she finished swallowing another sip. “It’s nice and warm, too!” “Umm, grilled cheese sandwiches and hot chocolate . . . my kind of food.” Greg said, nudging Faith. “Yep, me too! And with a cup of tomato soup, it’s like camp all over again,” Faith said, smiling before taking a bite of her sandwich. The Jeopardy tribe was taking a break from skating and having lunch in the Ice Town Café, decorated in a throwback to the 50s style, complete with a juke box. Troy grabbed Jen’s hand. “Come on, let’s dance,” he said, as the strains of “At the Hop” hit the air. Jenny didn’t need any more of an invitation and the two started dancing to the jivey song. Greg took one look at Faith and she nodded. They got up and started moving, determined never to be the Wallflower Girl and Punchbowl Guy ever again!

After leaving the rink, the Jeopardy tribe headed for Old Town. They had decided an afternoon of browsing around the scene of their Scavenger Hunt would be a pleasant way to spend the rest of their daylight hours. At Old Town, the couples headed off in different directions and explored the shops that interested them most. Faith was surprised when Greg took her by the hand and led her into a lovely jewelry shop. She looked over the earring selection, wanting to find a special memento of her time with Greg in San Diego. While she ooked around, Greg slipped away, saying he was interested in a new watch. Faith nodded and kept perusing the large inventory of earrings, trying to pick out the pair she liked the most. She lost track of time while looking and ended up trying to decide between a pair of little golden sand castles and a set of silver crescent moons. Both would be a good representation of her time on Bachelor Survivor. Questions ran through her mind: Did she want silver or gold earrings? Did she like one better than the other? Was one more meaningful? She’d decide on the sand castles, just to think, No, the moons! No the sand castles. She knew this was silly. She could afford them both, but it was her tradition to buy one special pair of earring when she traveled. Ok, that’s it! She thought. The sand castles. She took the pair of earring to the register and was brought back to the present as Greg turned from making his own purchase. “Did you find what you were looking for?” Faith asked. “I sure did!” said Greg. “Me, too! Let me just pay for these and we can move on.”

Jenny and Penny and Troy and Corey had started out this whole Bachelor experience as a foursome and they stuck together in Old Town. They were enjoying all of the gadgets and other items in the Kitchen Caper, a well-stocked store for kitchen items. I love this rolling pin,” Penny declared, showing the porcelain tool with a beautiful blue and white pattern on it. “Oh, it’s lovely!” Jenny agreed. “It reminds me of Nonna’s.” “I’ve always wanted one like hers. I’m going to buy it.” Penny said. “Come over here,” Jenny said, “What do you think of these?” She pointed to a display of football-shaped plates. “Dad would love them! We could use them for our annual Super Bowl party.” “That’s what I was thinking. OK, I’m getting five boxes of these. They only come four in a set and that will give us twenty plates.” Troy and Corey had found a special cookie jar for their mom who collected them. It took them a while to figure out which one they wanted, but they decided to go with the one shaped like a sand castle.

Cliff and Lindsey were in a T-shirt shop, trying to decide what design they wanted for their first his & her wear. They both spotted the same light blue tee shirt at the same
time and laughed when they each reached for it on the shelf. Then they found one in a large for Cliff and another in small for Lindsey. After purchasing the shirts, they changed and proudly wore their new matching attire. “We may look a bit dorky, but I think it’s cute!” Lindsey laughed. “At least, everyone will know you’re mine!” Cliff said.

Charlie and Carrie were enjoying the afternoon, browsing in stores of various kinds and examining all sorts of things . . . Spanish pottery . . . scented candles in a rainbow of colors and aromas . . . original watercolor paintings . . . handmade wooden bowls . . . wrought iron lighting fixtures . . . hats in all shapes and sizes . . . and then they came upon some music boxes. “Oh, I love these!” Carrie exclaimed. She picked up a small one shaped like a sand castle. She turned the base and put the music box down on the counter. The sand castle twirled around while it played, “Memories” from the musical Cats. “Perfect!” said Carrie. “I’m buying it for you,” Charlie told her as he picked it up. Carrie looked at him with love in her eyes, “Thank you! That is so sweet and I love it!” “I love you,” Charlie said.

As planned, the couples met at 7:00 for dinner at Jack and Giulio’s Italian Restaurant in Old Town. It was the place where they had had their “speed dates” after the Scavenger Hunt. When Cliff and Lindsey arrived last, wearing their light blue shirts donning a sand castle design, the others all laughed. Carrie pulled out her music box. Faith revealed her new earrings. Troy and Corey got out the cookie jar for Mom. “Imagine the odds of that,” said Jenny. “It looks like everyone had sand castles on their minds.” Penny commented. The couples enjoyed a long, leisurely dinner, accompanied by good stories and laughter. The Jeopardy tribe had bonded and it was a beautiful thing.

Toni and Brian and all the rest of the Romantics Tribe were deliriously happy that they had found an Immunity Idol, and were laughing it up and dancing jigs on the beach!

Of course, being rather ignorant about how Survivor works, no one seemed to realize that usually the finder of the Idol is the only one who gets immunity, NOT the whole tribe, so there would probably come a time when they would get a rude awakening and / or Brian would have to make a difficult decision, since he was the one who actually put his hands on the Idol first. HOWEVER ..... He was not a bona fide Bachelor candidate, and so, would it count that he'd found it, or would it revert back to Toni, since she was the one standing by him, and the one who actually put two and two together??? Hmmmmm.......

The other thing they couldn't possibly know is that Charlie and Carrie have a plethora of Immunity Idols because they are Survivor junkies! What did they have now ........... 6, 8, a dozen??? And the Romantics have .... ONE!!!

Well, we won't burst their bubble! They're joyous and giddy and playful right about now!
In the midst of their frivolity, Toni calls "ATTENTION" to all of them, and reminds them that they need to come up with an idea for a group date for tonight.

There were ideas shouted out left and right:
miniature golfing ~~ REAL golfing, the guys said ~~ roller skating ~~ a movie and dinner ~~ flying kites and a picnic ~~ Comedy Club and ice cream cones ~~

At that last one, Rayne remembered that Pamela had mentioned an upcoming event, when the girls were trying to come up with their date for the guys.

"Hey, remember when Pam mentioned the San Diego Music Awards, girls? Wasn't that this weekend? Remember, she said Margaret Cho was going to be the hostess and the opening act. I LOVE Margaret Cho!!! What do you all think?"
Renee chimed in that she would LOVE to go to the awards if they really were this weekend.........what a thrill for a music-lover to attend a genuine live Awards Show.

M and Bryanne made like divas, and sashayed across the sands holding their hair up like glamour girls ~~ "getting dressed to the nines and hobnobbing with the stars!!" Bry laughed. Jesse was rather liking this playful side of M!!

Toni got everyone's attention again, and called for a vote on the idea. She got enthusiastic yes's from everyone. She and Brian headed to find Chris, and to ask him for something special that Brian alone knew about and thought would be very cool.

~ to be continued ~

Brian and Toni took their ideas to Chris, who got busy working with the producers on planning a magical date for the Romantics tribe.
Everyone had been told to dress for casual chic, that there would NOT be water involved, music would be, of course as they were heading to the awards, there would be good food in a good restaurant, there would be open-air, and there would be club dancing. Dress appropriately for all of that!!

No problem for the guys … they could all get by with nice jeans or dressy Bermudas, and crisp shirts of any kind. But for the girls ~~ how do you dress for a little bit of everything?? Heavens, they had a time deciding and trying on and throwing pieces together! By the time they HAD to get out to the limo or be late, their 2 suites were a wreck with strewn clothes and lingerie, the bathrooms looked like a whirlwind had passed through, and the air was heavy with hairspray, perfume and deodorant. It was frenzy!

Meanwhile the guys were gellin’ out in front of the Del. It was Happy Hour, they were just talking and sipping cocktails the chauffeur had ready for them, waiting for the ladies.

It was worth the wait! The bachelorettes looked lovely and fresh and inviting. Love was brewing for these 5 couples, and the men had eyes only for their own pretty women, all tanned and sun-kissed and dressed for this special group date.

M wore an especially feminine strapless pink and mint green floral form-fitting dress, just a couple of inches above her knees with a super-lightweight leather jacket, sleeves pushed up about ¼ of the way, with 1” mules matching the warm brown of the jacket. Her hair was down, straightened and shiny. Jesse thought, “I can’t believe this beauty has met my eyes every day for these past few years, and I’m just now realizing her sexiness.”

Rayne was radiant like a little tigress in a short sheath dress in a peachy animal print, cinched at the waist with wide gold belt. The sleeves were long and puffy at the wrist, and her shoes were 2” gold heels, strapped at the back, with tiny golden rosettes on the uppers. Leo met her, extended his arm, and leaned in toward her ear, purring like a satisfied cat.

Toni’s hair was pixie-ish and soft this evening, and she wore big silver hoop earrings with several silver necklaces of different lengths, accentuating her lovely long neck. She had decided on a 3-tiered short navy blue skirt of a light and flowy jersey material, matched with a lacy, form-fitting white sleevelss top with a scoop neckline. She wore her ballet flats tonight because she wanted to be sure-footed for the dancing, and she wanted Brian to see her sweet feminine side tonight. His eyes certainly seemed to appreciate that, as he took her hand when she entered the lobby.

Renee was so excited about the Music Awards tonight, and just thrilled that ABC had been able to make it happen! Even if that was all that they did tonight, that would bring her such joy! Appropriately, she decided on a spaghetti-strap sundress, white background with small patterned musical notes in black on the full skirt, belted at the waist with a skinny patent leather belt. The bodice was black silk, and she wore matching black and white patent leather sandals, about ½ high. She felt comfy and breezy, and pretty. Martin confirmed that with a kiss and a whispered compliment that made her blush.

Bryanne took the casual but classy route tonight, and Will matched her almost perfectly, though they had not planned it whatsoever. He was wearing dark jeans, and a pale blue short-sleeved buttoned shirt, with the cuffs rolled up, a little bit James Dean-style. When Bryanne came into the lobby, they both laughed, and she threatened to go back and change until Will assured her that he loved how they could read each others’ minds. She had on dark blue skinny jeans rolled at the hems, with tan leather and tweed open-toed wedges. She wore a great little pale blue boho blouse with bell sleeves, finely embroidered with tiny beige blossoms at the hem, sleeve edges and neckline. She wore no necklace, but really pretty long dangly earrings with blue and beige beading. Her hair was pulled up into a loose ponytail with wispy bangs and tendrils around her neck.

At about 6 PM, the group piled into a long canary yellow stretch van, laughing and jostling for seating, cuddling up beside one another, restless like a bunch of kittens in a basket.

The guys wanted the sunroof open, the girls wanted music, the limo driver could only smile, knowing what a fun and romantic date they were going to have tonight!

Their date tonight did indeed begin with the 20th Annual San Diego Music Awards, being held at Humphrey’s By the Bay, an amazing outdoor venue situated comfortably between the renowned Humphrey’s Restaurant and the Half Moon Inn.

The Romantics were treated like celebs, with the yellow limo driving up to the entrance, red carpet laid along the walk, photographers and fans lining the rim behind velvet cords and applauding as the tribe entered Humphrey’s. They would be enjoying the Awards right up front, in the special VIP table seating section, located only steps from the awards podium! They had waitress service right at the table, a goodie bag full of local treats and freebies, and gift certificates. They were treated to these seats by ABC, but they found out from conversing with the others right up front that for those who purchased VIP seating, 100% of the proceeds were donated to purchase Taylor Guitars for San Diego County Elementary Schools! Renee especially thought this was a terrific way for music-lovers to give back to the community!

M, Jesse, Martin and Bryanne especially noticed what a great view of the Bay they had from their seating … palm trees were swaying all about the fringes of the campus, they could see the postcard-like scene of the sailboats anchored in the marina, and the clear blue sky was fringed with wispy clouds. Eventually, as dusk approached they would all comment on the shimmering appearance of the city lights twinkling on and off across San Diego Bay.

As they enjoyed a delicious meal and Jesse-approved cabernet sauvignon during the awards event, Brian took break times to tell the others that this restaurant had received several awards over the years, from San Diego’s Finest Restaurant to the Best Local Wine List. The fact that they also showcased the Live Music Venue during the summer months made Humphrey’s just the cat’s meow when it came to popular San Diego waterfront dining.

Comedienne Margaret Cho was the host for the Awards this year, and after introducing the special Bachelor Survivor table at the front of the audience, she did a great job keeping the ball rolling and rolling out the jokes. Rayne and Leo especially enjoyed Margaret’s brand of comedy, and she certainly noticed that they were laughing the hardest of all at her jokes. She commented on what a great couple they made, flattering them into even bigger laughs of course, and she told the Romantics table during one break to stay after the awards, hang out a little while … that she wanted to get to know them better! Rayne was delighted, and so excited that maybe she'd be taking Margaret Cho’s autograph back to little old River Forest, Illinois!

There were live performances from Maren Parusel, New Mexico, The Nervous Wreckords, Miss Erika Davies and Transfer, and Jimmy Powers. Inara George and her group Bird and the Bee from the LA area were special guests, and Switchfoot, Jimmy Powers, and the eclectic Jason Mraz all received awards. A very special 2010 Lifetime Award presentation was made to the group Iron Butterly.

~~ stick around, there's more ~~

The Awards show ended with a rousing ovation during which all the winners appeared on the stage together, Margaret Cho bid everyone a good night and safe travels, and the crowd began to disperse. Many well-wishers came by the Romantics VIP table to wish them all good luck on the show, lots of love, and to ask for autographs. HaHa! What a surprise and a treat for these average joe-types to be treated like such stars!

Soon Margaret Cho came to greet them all, and yes indeed, she did give an autograph to Rayne, who tucked it inside her shoe, which amused Margaret no end. “From the stage to the hoof, eh?!” she joked with Rayne.

At that point, Brian got everyone’s attention, as a group of roadies began setting up the stage again. The Romantics were murmuring about who they were setting up for … another concert, a special star, a rose and a one-on-one date perhaps?
“There is an ABC surprise for us tonight, gang.”

Toni had been brought in on the surprise by Brian and Chris, and she began to smile so big, it was radiant, and to hop about with anticipation for the reveal of the secret!

“You all don’t know it, since there isn’t any television or newspapers or internet access during the taping of the show, but I have the producers’ permission to tell you that this season our very own Margaret Cho is on 'Dancing With the Stars!'”
All of the bach/ettes smiled, laughed, applauded, high-fived Margaret, and she took a little bow, in all her tattooed glory!
“Her partner is Louis Van Amstel , and he is also here tonight. He wanted to meet you all.”

Rayne was almost giddy! “Louis is my favorite pro! Oh gee, this is exciting!!!”
Brian turned toward the dais, where now 11 artists of various shapes, sizes, culture and dress meandered, testing instruments and mikes, and from the wings came Louis!!

Much applause from all the tribe members, as Louis came to the floor, giving Margaret a big hug, and then one by one, each of the bach/ettes.
Louis himself then said, “Tonight, boys and girls, you are going to become ballroom dancers!”

The responses were mixed:
“No way! ~ What?! ~ I’ve always wanted to salsa!! ~ I ain’t touching it! ~ I’ll only do it if Karina is my teacher ~ etc.”
Louis laughed, then continued, “You’ll be partnering up with Margaret and myself ……. And with some of our friends ……..”
Louis turned and pointed toward the stage, and out jogged Tony Dovoloni, Lacey Schwimmer, Mark and Corky Ballas, Jennifer Grey, Brandy, Kyle Massey, AND …….. sure enough, Karina Schmirnoff!!!

There were hugs and handshakes and high-fives, laughter and joking all over the place, as this mix of 20 celebs and ordinary people met each other, introduced themselves, chatted, and led by Louis, began to learn a dance routine!

Chairs and tables were moved to the edge of the floor, chunky heels and loafers were exchanged for dancing shoes (or in Lacey’s case, bare feet), sweaters and jackets were shed.

Louis and Karina would show a string of steps, and the others would try to follow suit.

While this band of hoofers, both pro and amateur, shimmied and swept across the floor, dipped and waltzed, performed small lifts and pirouettes, they were serenaded by the performers “Pink Martini.” They were a band, but more of a singing orchestra, playing several different instruments themselves, and singing, too; then again, you might call them classical but with Sinatra/Connick, Jr overtones. They played and sang a great mix of styles of music, rocking and rolling, jazzy and bluesy, orchestral and folk.

As the dancers moved about the floor, learning the steps to the dance, Louis was also matching them up, the bach/ettes with the pros & celebs from the show. Eventually, this is how they paired up for the performance of their dance, which, he soon announced, would be performed on the next “Dancing With the Stars” Results Show!!! ~~

Louis <> Rayne (Rayne was in 7th heaven!)
Corky <> M
Jesse <> Karina (he got his wish being paired with hottie Karina!)
Leo <> Margaret (they laughed and joked the whole time)
Brian <> Jennifer
Tony D <> Toni
Kyle <> Renee (he and Renee sang to each other the entire time)
Martin <> Brandy
Mark <> Bryanne
Will <> Lacey (a little country in both of them)

There was so much laughter, missteps, slips and slides and goofy faces, messed-up hair, sweaty shirts and hands, wobbly ankles and bums bumping into one another, that it was more like recess than a dance lesson, and it was taken seriously by no one, with all of them simply enjoying the time they had together. For the bach/ettes, this was totally out of their realm, an out of the box experience for them. But, they DID in fact learn a routine, rough as it was, and they began to look relatively smooth and polished amid the joking and kidding.

~~ just one more installment coming right up ~~

Finally, the dancers were ready for an abbreviated dress rehearsal, took their marks, and Pink Martini began their signature tune “Sympathique,” with the fun chorus, “Je ne veux pas travailler (I don’t want to work),” which had become an overnight sensation in France, and was nominated for Song of the Year at France’s Victoires de la Musique Awards.

All the women started as a group with a girls’ solo swing and sway, then the men glided out onto the floor and over to their partners, twirling them, then joining hands for a few waltz steps, followed by short pairs’ spotlights … a quick step for the Two Tonys, a line dance for Lacey and Will, a rhumba move for Karina and Jesse, a clownish chicken-dance for Margaret and Leo, etc. The group finished with a twirling lift, which proved comical for Kyle and Renee when they tripped over each other, and Kyle landed on his tush but Renee covered by doing her lift raised upon his feet over him, like the old airplane game parents have been doing with their kids forever. And that’s how they stayed for the last frozen frame, and the last bar of music sung by Pink Martini!!

The dancers descended on Kyle and Renee with laughter and hugs, helping Kyle off the floor, and high-fiving the two of them for recovering with such good humor. Louis decided that move should stay in the routine, for comic effect, along with Leo and Margaret’s chicken dance!
There were snacks provided by Humphrey’s, and a wonderful champagne. Chris and Gwen appeared to thank the DWTS cast and Pink Martini, then called everyone ~~ bach/ettes, dancers, the band ~~ outside for one last surprise before the Bachelor Survivor cast had to head back to the Del. Beach mats and folding chairs, chaise lounges and benches were set up on the waterfront, blankets and throws and jackets were passed out, and Chris said, “Find a comfy spot and settle in for the last performance of the evening.”

Within moments, off in the distance over the bay, from some barge or boat or dock out of sight, a magnificent Fireworks Fiesta began, with showers and sprays of light and booms and whistles, some spraying out in circles, other looking like misty waterfalls followed by a lone thunderous bang. Red, white and blue displays were accompanied by John Philip Sousa marches, and followed by colorful rockets bursting to 2:00 then 10:00 then straight up 12 in the night sky.

All over San Diego and Coronado, citizens and sailors were enjoying this display. You could hear oohs and aahs all around after displays settled, and scattered applause. The finale was spectacular, capping the best fireworks fiesta some of the audience had ever seen.
The casts of the two shows said good night and we’ll see you next week, and the Bachelor Survivor gang once again climbed into the limo, excited and jovial and happily tired after this great evening of entertainment and exercise.
They rode home paired off, couples in each others’ arms, glad to be in this together, glad to be with the one they cuddled, and glad to be heading to some sleep!!

When the women got to their two suites, their great mess from earlier in the evening was staring at them in their weary faces, and it was as if they were stupefied.

“Ugghhh,” Bryanne moaned, speaking for all of the girls.

Will & Martin had heard the girls complaining, came to see what was up, and offered a respite for the ladies. They had a pow-wow with the other men, and they all scrounged around and came up with sleeping bags and makeshift bedrolls. The guys were offering the ladies their beds for the night, while they would head out for a campout by the bonfire. They grabbed a couple of 6-packs, kissed their ladies good-night, and started out, leaving the pleasantly surprised girls to wash up and brush their teeth and climb into their guys’ beds for a good night’s sleep.
Before he headed out and closed the patio door, however, Will did turn around and mischievously say to Bryanne, “Sweetheart, I do think this earns us a nice home-cooked breakfast in the morning, don’t you?” He batted his eyelashes once or twice at her, and while growling playfully, she threw a pillow in his direction, sending him out the door!

Now, of course despite of the rumors among The Romantics regarding the gargantuan amount of Hidden Immunity Idols
the Jeopardy tribe had, in truth, they had only 6 Idols and they all had been
found by Charlie and Carrie. The first week Charlie had found a groom and
Carrie had found a bride, the second week Charlie had found an airplane with
the number 100,000 on it and Carrie had found a palm tree, and the third week
they had found two idols together. When the idols were unwrapped later,
Charlie had found a house up on the living room beam and Carrie had found a
savings bank passport behind the fireplace tools. Like the prior Idols,
they were all carved out of wood and painted to look very real. (And
remember, the only Jeopardy tribe members who know that Charlie and Carrie have
an Idol are Jenny, Penny, Troy, and Corey and they only know about one!)

But, when Monday night rolled around and the members of Team Jeopardy
socialized with their friends from Team Romantics at the Monday Night
Cocktail Party, Chris Harrison had another important . . . . you guessed it!
. . . ANNOUNCEMENT . . . tomake. “At this point in the game, with both tribes
down to ten players .. . give or take one or two . . . it’s time for a new rule.”
Comments of: “Oh, boy!” . . . “Yikes!” . . . “You’ve gotto be kidding me” . . .
“Don’t you mean, kidding us?” . . . “Here we go again!” “What now?” . . .

could be heard around the room.

“Hold on,” said Chris. “I think you are going to like this one.
Since you all seem to have found a special someone to pair up with, except
maybe M who I will need to talk with privately this evening, from now on you
will be competing as a couple. If your team loses a challenge, a couple,
not an individual, will be eliminated. However, if that couple has a
Hidden Immunity Idol, they cannot be eliminated and another couple must go in
their place. Does everyone understand?” Heads nodded. The reaction
to this announcement was mixed. Everyone liked it that they were now
paired by couples, but not too many of them had Hidden Immunity Idols.
Chris then added, “No couples need to go home tonight, since two couples left
earlier this week. However, if anyone wants to leave tonight, the parting
gift is a trip to London for 12 days, starting this evening.” That last
announcement got the attendees of the cocktail party buzzing as they started
circulating.
