Re: Discussion Episode 9
I don't know why Andi tweeted this today when she knew she had sent him home:
Andi Dorfman @AndiDorfman
Riding off into the sunset with Chris soon in Dominican Republic! #TheBachelorette #abc pic.twitter.com/xt1NLAcZMD
IMO it was disrespectful to Chris who was a gentleman throughout the season and left as a gentleman at the end. He was my favorite on the show and will always be my favorite from this season. I don't really care which one of the two left she picks, neither one did anything for me. I would love to see Chris as the next bachelor but that probably won't happen so this may have been the last season that I watch.

Re: Discussion Episode 9
If I live to be 100, I'll never know why she sent Chris home and kept Nick. I haven't seen the whole episode yet, but did see the last part of the date with Chris and the rest of the show. I can understand her hesitation to change her entire lifestyle for someone she really was not sure of, but I still do not like Nick.
I think Chris will be the next Bachelor - at least I hope so.

Re: Discussion Episode 9
Well, we all knew Chris was going home this week. The only good thing is that she sent him home before the rose ceremony...however, if I was him I don't know how I'd feel about being sent home before going into the fantasy suite. Isn't that kind of saying, "I don't want to really get to know you any better by even staying up late talking to you one on one"? Oh well...now he has the notoriety that he will have women chasing him and hopefully he'll find a really great girl that deserves him. As much as he will probably be a frontrunner for the next Bachelor I'm kind of hoping he won't do it. I really hate how they take their leads that we like and have us turn on them. Just now watched an interview with him on Extra and he made it sound like he'd be interested if asked. I just don't like the thought of how many women would want him for his money and the fame.
Out of the two that are left if I had my choice it would be Josh, and if she's smart she will send the oddball Nick packing. He is so weird. Even the way he pronounces her name is a turn off. Ugh.

SLA: I don't care who she picks either. I've become so aware of editing possibilities, I can't accept anyone or anything as real. Who ARE these people, really?
newto: I understand the pull for Chris to be the next Bach. However, as rkc says, TPTB have edited the persona of people so much, we probably wouldn't see the SAME Chris we came to like.
rkc: As for the FS date, why encourage someone you know isn't going to make it? I don't care for Andi, but I respect that decision.
Of the two remaining, I'd pick Josh - but then again, these two wouldn't have been in my final. It would've been Brian and Chris.
I don't know if it's a gut feeling or the edit, but Nick? Potential obsessive stalker? A controlling husband? I just go into stealth mode with him.

THE BACHELORETTE
RECAP FOR JULY 14, 2014
Hello, and welcome to The Bachelorette on ABC. Tonight, our final three guys--Chris, Nick and Josh--will be whisked away to the Dominican Republic by our lovelyBachelorette Andi Dorfman for the Fantasy Suite Overnight Dates and special one on one time with no cameras. (Read: Sexy times in a hotel room with strategically placed rose petals, candles and maybe a pool or a hot tub.) At the end of the night, one of them will be sent home. Who will it be? We are about to find out!
Before we get to the dates, we get a look at her journeys with each of the guys. All I got from it is that she likes and has feelings for all three guys, but there is something about each one that leaves her feeling confused.
Onto the dates. The music reminds me of a weird Unsolved Mysteries remix. It is not sexy or romantic at all.
Date One: Nick
They make out, both in and out of the water and seem to be wearing his and hers bathing suits. She also grills him on his past relationships and why he and previous girlfriends broke up. REALLY? For all future guys I choose to date, I promise to never ask questions like this….fantasy date or no. Basically, he was stubborn and…who the heck cares? He goes on to talk about talking to his mom about her and how insecure he is about telling her he loves her. He seems nervous, which is kind of endearing and cute.
They do some snorkeling and then enjoy a romantic dinner. He still has not told her he loves her. He just could not do it---and to be fair, it is a very difficult thing to do. He wrote her a fairy tale story which is actually kind of sweet….it is illustrated and everything. It is corny, but really sweet. I would really fall for a guy who would do this for me. The part that gets me is him being in France and falling under an evil spell that makes him act like a big baby. I love this! He also says that he loves her at the end of the story and says she has a decision about whether or not to go into the Magical Fantasy Suite.
Oh, and he tells her everything he loves about her and then says out loud that he loves her. They head to the Fantasy Suite. We don't see much, but it is not very romantic looking. In fact, the hotel room Blanche used to seduce her sweet, gentleman boyfriend on The Golden Girls is MUCH more romantic than this. Does anyone else remember that episode? He wasn't sure how to treat women since he only dated his wife so she tried to seduce him and it ended in disaster? Anyway, we see nothing but them kissing.
Date Two: Josh
This date consists of them exploring the city, learning cultural dances, trying new foods and just enjoying each other's company. They also watch a local team play baseball. Andi decides they should join them…and it is actually really cute to see them just have fun without any pressure.
Josh never felt like this before and says he waited twenty-nine years to feel this way. They spend the rest of the afternoon talking about how his family liked her, kissing and him telling her he loves her.
At dinner, they talk about the journey and how he was worried about being sent home the first night. He says he can understand if she would have had some sort of preconceived notion about him at the beginning.
The conversation moves on to how they would be as parents, their own parents and how he wants to marry the next one he says 'I love you' to. This leads to more kissing and her suddenly questioning why he is so happy all the time. She then goes on to say he makes her feel so young, he makes her feel like spring has sprung and every time she sees him friend….okay, enough singing. She likes his maturity and that he declared his love….so off to the Fantasy Suite they go! He can't lie, it is an easy decision to say yes. (They should really call these the I Wanna Get Laid For The First Time In Forever Cards/Dates. It seems like most of the time all the person being asked cares about.)
There are fireworks and they go into a boring looking room with candles. He loves her and wants to spend time with her. She is also the most amazing woman he has ever been with.
The date ends with them making out in the pool or hot tub. Yawn.
Date Three: Chris
He is falling in love with her more and more every day and hope it continues.
They decide to go horseback riding which is kind of comical to watch. He thinks she looks hot on a horse, she is lost in the scenery. I think we all know where this is going.
Afterward, they toast to their hometown date and the journey thus far. She talks about how much she loves his family and how she thinks they are the best family she has ever met.
Are they playing hide and seek? Good grief, if that is romantic….but then, I've always hated that game as a child. He carries her away once they find each other.
At dinner, they talk about their relationship and where they think it is going, especially since she is going to have to make a lot of changes if she moves to Iowa. This leads to them disagreeing on their futures and how they might not have the strong foundation they thought they initially had.
She decides it isn't fair to keep him here when they know their lives are so different.
She says it isn't there and that her head and heart don't match up. In the end, she decides to just send him home. He agrees that if it isn't right he wants to leave. They are both in tears as they say goodbye.
He says he is heartbroken and isn't sure what to do.
After a pep talk with Chris Harrison, we get to the rose ceremony. She tells the other guys it wasn't there with Chris and she sent him home before the Fantasy Suite. (REALLY? Was this really necessary? Just say it didn't work out and leave it at that.) We still have a rose ceremony because she wants them to have a say in this process and we still have about five minutes of air time. They both accept the roses and they will both meet her family in two weeks.

Re: Discussion Episode 9
Singly, I know what you're saying but my thought is this...Andi right from the beginning had singled out Nick and Josh and in truth didn't really seem to put as much effort into the other guys other than her numerous comments about this guy is hot and that guy is hot. First impressions are not always the best, believe me I know first hand. I'm just saying if it had been me, once I had narrowed down the guys to the last final ones I would have wanted to spend more time with all of them to make sure I wasn't basing my decision on frivolous things and I had the true picture of who and what that person was. She just seems to have blinders on with the final two and she didn't seem to open herself up as much with the other guys, Just saying....singlyme wrote:SLA: I don't care who she picks either. rkc I hear where you are coming from and quite frankly after the HTDs where Andi was raving about Chris' and how she felt a part of his family I was surprised with her reaction/behavior with Chris on his FD. But after what Andi said to him at dinner he wanted to leave and he did leave as the gentleman that he had been throughout the whole season. Do I think Andi made a mistake? Yes to me she did but I would like to see Chris with someone that appreciated him for the fine person he is and that was not Andi. I would still like to know what she meant with her head and heart were not in agreement. Which was pro and which was con? Will probably never know for sure.

Re: Discussion Episode 9
Oh I hear ya, SLA. I too would like to see Chris with someone that he deserves but I don't think him being The Bachelor is going to get him his dream girl. Chris is one of those people that I think will find "the one" outside of the show. If they make him the next Bachelor then you will have all kinds of flighty, money hungry, fame hungry tramps and he deserves better than that. I'm kind of surprised that he said he would be interested in doing it. That kind of disappoints me.
I think what Andi meant by her head and heart don't match up is that on paper Chris is practically the perfect guy but she wasn't as attracted to him as she was Josh and Nick...and God only knows why she is so attracted to that weirdo. I hate to say it because it's so shallow but from what I saw and heard from Andi this season is that she was making her judgements especially in the beginning by the stirrings between her legs.....I know it sounds crude but she just said way too many things that made her seem that way.

Re: Discussion Episode 9
Yep I think you are right about that with what she was making her judgments on. I think her mind was pretty well made up from the first night and she really didn't give anyone else much attention other than Marcus and she just thought he was hot and liked to kiss him. I'm sure her daddy dearest will want her to pick Josh because of his brother Aaron having been the QB for Georgia and now going to the NFL. Something just seemed off to me about Josh all season long. I just never saw anything attractive about Nick and could not for the life of me understand why she gave him the FIR. SMH there!
The reason I would like to see Chris as the next bachelor is purely selfish - I would love to be able to see him on TV screen for 10 weeks and this time really be able to see him. I know there would be some dimwits for contestants but I would hope there would be a few good ones for him to choose from.

Re: Discussion Episode 9
rkc: For me, it's easy to understand the initial culling process in this situation. First, you eliminate those who don't appeal to you physically. Second, you have that 5-10 minute conversation and eliminate those who operate on a different wave-length. It's all personal preferences. And I might want to snatch up a guy someone else has rejected because he's my type.
It wouldn't surprise me to learn the lead had winnowed the field down to four on the first night. Certainly, others might change her mind as the process continues and she learns more about them. But TPTB must keep us guessing.
There's a thread on the ABC board about Jason & Molly's podcast. They say that no one falls in love on this show, that they only have approximately 48 hours - total - of being together before the FRC. Can you picture yourself accepting a proposal after knowing someone for 48 hours?

Re: Discussion Episode 9
SLA: I get suspicious when they drive with one hand on the wheel. Josh got an edit that played up his connection to sports. If we hadn't read the bio, we'd think he was an unemployed sports bum who never got over losing baseball. He's being portrayed as semi-intelligent while he has a job which requires some smarts.
They also played up the tension when he resented the implication of dishonesty due to the lie-detector test. They want us to think it's Nick.
Nick, on the other hand, is bent on "sweeping her off her feet" with flowers, his little fairy tale, stolen time, etc. They appear to want us to believe it's working.
I have to wonder. I can imagine the following scenario: Andi's interest lies only in Josh and she tells Chris or her handler. Then, they decide who they can best promote as an adversary to that choice. The viewers, after all, are required to believe she's undecided between the final two. This supposition leads me to believe the producers nudged Nick into some of his actions. Is he so confident because they've led him to believe he's the one?
Apparently, the contract prohibits anyone from revealing the mechanics that go on behind the edit. I'd love to be a fly on the wall.

Re: Discussion Episode 9
TPTB may have nudged Nick, but IMHO they are working with someone who really feels he is F1. Wouldn't take too much nudging in that case.

Re: Discussion Episode 9
Singlyme I think that the producers lead the F2 on that they are the F1 every season except where the F2 was let go or left before the FRC. Number one on the Bachelorette they want the drama and that would be having both propose at the FRC. To me this is really cruel but that is the mentality of TPTB on this franchise.
IMO Josh was hand-picked (maybe you could say a plant) for Andi and there was never any contest from the get go - it was always Josh and that could be one of the reasons I never cared for him.

Re: Discussion Episode 9
Finally, someone out of the Bach Bubble is telling the truth....
Jason and Molly Mesnick may have met on ABC’s favorite dating franchise The Bachelor, but the two don’t credit the show for their lasting love — or anyone else’s for that matter. Despite the fact that four men proclaimed their love and affection for Andi Dorfman on the current season of The Bachelorette, the married couple and parents of two kind of think those feelsies are hog wash.
“I don’t think that anybody really ever falls in love on the show,” says Jason on their latest episode of their podcast. “NO,” Molly chimes in emphatically, “they think they fall in love.” Jason continues with, “you just don’t get to spend enough time with the person.” The duo estimate that in two months of filming, the lead spends a combined total of forty-eight hours or fewer with his or her final choice.
“It’s not until after the show that relationships are able to work or not,” says Jason. “When you’re out of the reality show bubble.”
The Season 13 Bachelor tries to be a little optimistic about the show’s potential for romance, saying “Ryan and Trista [Sutter] probably fell in love on the show, right?” But Molly doesn’t even buy that most magical of love stories. “No,” she says, “afterwards.”
“It just doesn’t happen,” agrees Jason. In an earlier podcast, the Mesnicks mention that one of the trials and tribulations newly anointed Bachelor/ette couples face is the sudden fame and variety of “options” they didn’t have prior to the show. The increased attention from members of the opposite sex, coupled with a long-distance relationship, tends to lead to demise of relationships formed during the bubble of production.
So who has the best bet of making things work with Andi long term? Well, according to a couple who’s made it work, it sure doesn’t hurt that she and Josh Murray live in the same state.

Re: Discussion Episode 9
I don't have any problem with what they say. It's very likely quite true - and I DO think that after-show proximity would help.

Re: Discussion Episode 9
Singly - good point. However, there was one couple (Travis and Sarah) for which the proximity made no difference at all.
