This is what I posted on the ABC board:

I'm sure I'll have some differing opinions, but here goes:

Nick has the perfect aura to be cast in the starring role of a movie about Ted Bundy. There's something slightly sinister in that smug smile. The charmer who turns control freak.

JJ: I understood what he was saying about cheering for the guy who gets the rose. It's like cheering when the opposing team scores a basket. Human nature says the others were either hiding their true feelings or should be wearing halos.

Dylan: What sleaze producer decided on those two questions (hands and 20) to be aired? Disgusting. Could his secret be he was a male escort at some low point? Don't care, really. He's a downer. Don't think we've seen him smile, have we?

Josh: Obviously, he was deeply offended that she didn't trust him. (Has he ever watched this show?) And Andi was deeply offended that he confronted her on the topic. Listen, I've been known to hang up on political surveys when they ask a question I feel is too probing.

For some reason, Marcus remains a background filler for me. I know many think he's hot, but I haven't seen much in the way of personality. Has there really been much film on him - or is he that forgettable to me?

It was surprising that Chris was the secret admirer. This guy has a lot to offer - but I don't like the way he walks. lol

Brian is losing me.

What was up with that russet job Andi wore when she sent Cody home? I had a WTH moment and had to rewind to see what she had on. Horrendous. They were as tight as the skin on a russet potato. Did the camel have three toes? I wasn't crazy about Andi to begin with and the duck lips are beginning to annoy me. I found myself testing how she has to hold her mouth to form them. lol.

THE BACHELORETTE
RECAP FOR JUNE 23, 2014

Hello, and welcome to The Bachelorette on ABC. Tonight, Andi Dorfmancontinues her journey to find love with her remaining suitors. Tonight, we are in Venice, Italy for drama, romance and beautiful views.

We open up tonight's episode with everyone arriving and preparing to find out who will get the first date. Andi joins them and says the first one on one date will begin immediately.

Nick gets the date, which he thinks is shocking. He is glad he has the chance to redeem himself.

They spend the day exploring, eating pizza and feeding the birds. He hopes this is his way of showing he is not the person he was on the group date and she talks about falling in love.  However, she still wonders what is going on with Nick and the other guys.

Aside: This looks like my kind of date. I would love the chance to explore a city like this and just take in the culture.

'Don't fall in love with the most beautiful woman in the word, but with the one who makes your world more beautiful.' Favorite quote of the night so far.

I am loving this gondola ride portion of the date--the love quotes, the kissing, the culture--everything is perfect.

At dinner, they talk about his attitude on the group date.   He is also honest about his feelings and what was going on with the other guys in the house. She is glad he is telling the truth about everything and decides to give him a rose. She also feels like she is in a dream or on another planet with him.

The night ends with them dancing, kissing and wearing masquerade masks.

Cody is upset because he has yet to have a date with Andi. He compares himself to a dog being dragged around this journey. He says if it doesn't happen tonight, then he might be sent home.

Date Card Two: Everybody left in the house except Cody is on this date, which means he has the one on one. He is psyched and can't wait to see where things go.

Before we get to the date, we find out Andi got another letter from her secret admirer. Anyone want to take a guess to who it could be?

This date consists of them all taking lie detector tests. Um, no….just no. I am not a fan of this. I believe in honesty, but a lie detector test like this is just plain stupid. There has to be some sort of trust in the relationship.

To be honest, I fast forward through most of it because it is just so stupid. Are you good in bed? Do you wash your hands after you use the bathroom? REALLY? This is the best they can come up with?

Apparently, there were lies that were told…..by everyone. She rips it up and we move on to bigger and better things.

One on one time….there is a lot of kissing and lie detector test reenactments. All the guys on this date look like they should be in an Abracrombie and Fitch ad. It is boring, there is nothing we haven't seen before….and the only redeeming part of this boring date is when Chris says he is the secret admirer. He gets the rose, of course.

At the house, Cody talks about how Nick isn't the guy Andi thinks he is. He hopes to show her the real Cody and that they get to know each other better.

Their date begins--and she can't stop talking about how much he loves his eyes. They are in Verona, the birthplace of Romeo and Juliet. This means the date is probably doomed from the start. The fact that she is showing him places related to the play and they reenact parts of it isn't exactly a good sign either.

I do admit, the Letters to Juliet part is pretty cool. They read and respond to some of the letters written to Juliet.

If they start singing Hey, Juliet by LMNT I am done here.  I should already be hiding in shame because not only do I REMEMBER the song, but I actually have it on my workout music list.

At dinner, he reads her a letter and tells her how much he is falling in love. Seeing him this open, this vulnerable is so sweet and endearing.

However…..Andi tearfully says there is only a friendship and doesn't think there is a romance there. Basically, it is the most dramatic, tearful friendzoning I have ever seen in my life.

He says that this is tough to deal with as he is sent home. He says the bottom line was that he was rejected.

The guys at the house seem somber as they realize Cody has been sent home.

Andi is crying over this, saying she would rather feel the pain from last night than deal with this.

Cocktail party: kissing, drama and people whining that they want time with Andi. The guys still don't like Nick. There is seriously nothing noteworthy here.

Andi talks to Chris Harrison about her week and is concerned about Josh's reaction to the lie detector test. She says this is a hard situation to be in and it is very scary for her.

Rose ceremony time: Nick and Chris already have roses, so they are safe. Dylan, Brian, Marcus and Josh all get roses, which means our favorite pantsapreneur JJ is going home. I love how he is leaving dressed as the Doctor Who/Bill Nye The Science Guy love child. He is my favorite this season.

Andi tells him it is hard to let him go, but she can't lead him on. He agrees that it is better this way, but he is not happy. He did not expect this and is almost in tears over the situation.

I thought the part of the lie detector test they showed at the end of the episode was the best part of the whole episode last night - it had me cracked up!  Laughing

OK...this was a loaded episode LOL.

I have all kinds of thoughts going through my mind as to why she gave Nick a second one on one date before giving Cody his first. I'm quite sure she knows what the dates are in advance and she picks who she wants on them. There is no doubt in my mind that she had already decided Cody was being sent home so she picks the better of the two one on one dates to give to Nick. I also believe her brain has taken a leave of absence that she didn't put Nick on the group date where a lie detector test was being given. That guy is a potential loose cannon that I believe is being totally untruthful. Did anyone else notice that during that date while they were doing the PI that when he said he was falling in love with her that he stalled while saying it and his face looked like he had a bad case of indigestion? And then when he says it to her face he couldn't even look at her when he said it? Really? And she is falling for this hook, line and sinker? I'll say it again...girl needs a new line of work. I'm starting to think that maybe she didn't put Nick on the lie detector date because she knows he is full of BS and she doesn't want to accept it.

Poor Cody...I'm not partial to that kind of man...all beefcake and not much along the line of substance but I still felt sorry for him. When he started pouring his heart out and giving her the sales pitch on why she should keep him I'm yelling at the tv screen for him to shut up, don't say any more and look at her face. That's all you had to do and you knew the ball was getting ready to get dropped. UGH.

On to the group date...where to start. I didn't like the idea of the lie detector test but if you're going to do it than I sure as hell would have looked at the results...but then again, I'm thinking that could have been for show and there could have been a second set of results that she looked at later. Brian was quick to open hers which to me is a red flag on him. I'm thinking Dylan's suddenly feeling ill had nothing to do with actually feeling ill but he was probably trying to make a bee line for the door before she read the test results. The revelation that he didn't wash his hands after going to the bathroom was bad enough but did it completely go over everyone's head that he admitted he slept with more than 20 women? Ewwww. He's on his way out anyway because they don't seem that into each other anyway....and I heard he was one of the contestants on Bachelor in Paradise. Josh made too big a deal out of them having to take the test. If you have nothing to hide then don't worry about it. You've known each other for like 2 seconds and you're going to go on about how she should trust you? LOL.

Lastly, I'm glad JJ finally went home. Wasn't feeling it with the dude's tattle-tailing. And, I'm sorry but if I had to look at another one of his poorly chosen cocktail party outfits I would have barfed. Bow ties are not my thing but the worst was not wearing socks with a pair of pants that weren't even long enough to being to cover up the fact. Just not put together well at all. I know, I'm being petty now but I like a guy that at least tries  Smile

Oh, and before I forget...that last part caught me off guard and had me laughing so hard I almost peed my pants. When they showed the guy doing the lie detector test asking in his barely there English, "Have you ever fought (fart) in public?" The looks on the guys faces were priceless!

I thought the whole  concept of the lie detector test was about the lowest thing I can remember in all of the past seasons.  Totally gross, but that is JHMO.  Truly shows a franchise scraping the bottom of the barrel.   Unfortunately I fell asleep at the beginning of Cody's date, so did not see that or the RC.  I keep thinking I didn't miss anything......

I agree with everything you said rkc.  That Nick is as slick as snot and yep he was lying to her about falling in love with her - he couldn't look her in the eyes when he said it.  That man is so full of BS and arrogance it isn't even funny!  I hope she takes off her rose colored glasses when it comes to him real soon and sees all those red flags waving at her.   I really question her ability to be able to read people at all - I think it is probably a good thing she resigned her position as ADA.

When I first saw Cody's pictures I went ewwww - a meat head!  He had turned out to be the biggest surprise to me because he was so nice and had a sweetness about him I sure didn't expect to see.  I had tears in my eyes for him when he was about to be sent home.  Poor guy but he was just in the friend zone on Andi's radar so it was better that she sent him home as hard as it was for her.  I think that's the first time I've seen honest to goodness tears on one of these bachelorettes when they are supposedly crying.  I think see really did feel bad because she did not want to hurt him but she new bringing him along any further would have hurt him more because of the feelings he was developing for her.

Poor Dylan - that lie detector test with those questions they were asking got the best of him.  He did say in a voice over as he was walking out the door he was worried how it was going to come out.  He seems like a nice enough guy but I'm thinking he is in the friend zone also.

Marcus was pretty quiet in this episode I thought,  But at least he didn't sit there with a sourpuss look on his face like Josh did.  What on earth is that guy's problem.  He was so p-oed  about that lie detector test I wondering if he's not the one that lied 3 times.  Heck they all took it but he was the one that couldn't let it go and the had the trust issues up the boo-coo!  Man he was talking so fast it was ridiculous.  I'm wondering if he knows how to have a civil conversation.  There are big red flags all over that guy as far as I'm concerned.

I thought Brian handled himself very well at the GD cocktail party  when JJ was going on about not feeling happy or supportive of the other guys when they get a rose or a step ahead.  Unfortunately for Brian I think he is more in the friend zone in Andi's radar also.

I thought Chris handled that conversation with JJ very well.  He was mature in his responses and told JJ just the way it was - I say good for you Chris.  I thought Andi seemed genuinely pleased to find out that Chris was her secret admirer.  There is something there and I'm wondering why he has been so hidden in this season.  I did have to chuckle when he was kissing her and the camera showed her backside and was Chris's hand on her butt.

I was so glad to see JJ leave - I was so tired of his tattle tail ways.  I hope the major drama is over now but after seeing the preview and Slick Nick's behavior I guess there will be more.  Gosh that guy is cocky.

The best part of the show to me was when they showed the clip at the end of the lie detector test and the poor English when asking that question - it sounded like they were asking if they had f*cked in public to me instead of fought in public.  But then I was laughing so hard at the guys expressions I can't be sure what I heard.  Laughing

SLA, you reminded me of something I was pondering when you brought up being a sourpuss on a group date. Andi was saying she was concerned over Nick acting that way on a group date around the other guys and that she was concerned that he couldn't get along with the other guys. Her answer to that? Give him a second one on one date before giving Cody his first. Really? Is that how you handle a guy that only seems comfortable when he is in a one to one situation with you? I say no. You throw him into another group date and see if he sinks or swims this time. Instead she gives him the better of the one on one dates and doesn't put him on the date with the lie detector test. Hmmm. Seems girlfriend is afraid of finding out the truth about him.

You make a very good point, SLA.  A group date would have been more revealing.

I was astounded that she let all her doubts evaporate because he read her a cure-all letter.  She's an idiot.  I'm certain the edit is a big part of it, but they're portraying her as a dimwit when it comes to her ego.  Flattery and adoration will get you everywhere.

Let's face it, we all respond to flattery when it's sincere.  But Nick?  She needs to pull out some judgment scales.

I agree with both of you rkc and singly!  If it is the edit, they are making her look like she lacks the ability to judge people's actions, body language and cannot decipher just plain BS from the truth.  If it is not just the edit it is a very good thing that she resigned her ADA position IMO because she is very poor in judging a person's character.  It looks to me like she has two guys there that she should be really questioning and instead she seems to give them passes on their bad behavior and buy whatever they are selling to her.  If this continues she is going to let the good ones go and end up with a truckload of BS to choose from.

I wouldn't trust Nick any further than I could throw him and since I'm only 5'3" that would not be very far at all.  I am getting vibes from Josh that something is off there with him and I do not trust him either.  I guess if she picks either one of these guys she gets what she deserves or maybe they deserve each other.

I've been feeling for a while now that the final two men standing will be Nick and Josh. Either way I doubt it will last long. I think the two of them are more into winning than a relationship and I don't think Andi is someone that ANYONE could tolerate for long.

One can only hope that somewhere along the line Andi will come to her senses and see what a conniving person Nick is.  His little trick of going to her room (as shown in the previews) reminds me of Clare in JP's season.  He does need his ego knocked down a few pegs.

Of all the men remaining, the only one who stands out to me is Chris, and we really haven't seen much of him.  Guess only time will tell who she she ends up with, if anyone.

And then, the obvious question...why do we continue to get caught up in all this drama?

I like both Brian and Chris.  They seem like good guys.

A thought occurred (yes, I do have them occasionally - lol).  Could it be we're seeing such a passive acceptance of Nick because they want us to believe he's IT?  And she's playing along with this red herring?  I think Josh is more real-life, in that he'll challenge her and rock the boat when necessary.  I hope Andi has more savvy and substance than what they're showing us.  So far, all they've done is make me dislike her.

I don't see Marcus or Dylan with any future for her.
