Week 2 Discussion

THE BACHELORETTE
RECAP FOR MAY 26, 2014

Hello, and welcome to The Bachelorette on ABC. Tonight, Andi Dorfman starts dating her remaining men, hoping to find her perfect match. Will she find chemistry with someone special? Who will get sent home? Will we ever find out what in bloody hell a pantsapreneur is? These questions, and many others, will be answered tonight on The Bachelorette. 

Andi thinks her husband is among these nineteen guys. The guys move into the mansion and explore. They even toast with mimosas and Bloody Marys. I don't even know what to do with this information. i always saw it as a brunch drink and not a 'yay I moved into a mansion with eighteen other men to fight over the same girl' drink, but what do I know?

Date Card! Eric Hill gets the clue Love Is Everywhere. HEART Andi. The dude who read it actually said HEART Andi. It was also written by the same person who wrote the date cards for every previous season.

Andi picks Eric up and tells the others to 'have fun, y'all! See ya, boys.'  I think y'all is this season's it's ok. 

As they drive to their destination, they talk about his adventures motorcycling. Or something. I am more impressed that she can parallel park, because I sure can't. The fact I did it on my road test is a minor miracle. Granted, I've only needed it three times since then, but still. 

The two go to play on the beach and take a helicopter ride to someplace where they have a snowball fight and watch snowboarders. The are still in their swimsuits. I think it is pretty odd, but then Louie Vito, the sexy Olympic snowboarder and Dancing With The Stars alumni gives them snowboarding lessons. Can he be the next Bachelor? I'd SO  sign up! 

Andi and Eric do more snowbaording and enjoy some hot chocolate that appeared out of nowhere. They play in the snow some more, have dinner and talk about his life. He is so impressive and lived such a full, accomplished life. I am in awe listening to some of his adventures. The scariest part was hearing about how he almost died in Syria, especially knowing he died recently. To be honest, it has been so weird to watch this knowing he is dead.  My heart breaks even more. He was such an accomplished, sweet man.  

He gets a rose. I actually love this date because it is so fun and relaxed. 

Date Card 2: Nick S., Bradley, Brett, Dylan, Pat, Marcus, Carl, Craig, Josh, Marquel, Ron, Tasos, Cody and Brian get the clue Let's BARE it all.  I think this is going to be some kind of Magic Mike date. Not that I am complaining, these guys can certainly pull it off.  (Thank you toReality Steve for the accurate listings--the show went too fast for me!)

Scott with Hollywood Men teaches them how to exotic dance. It reminds me of a cross between Magic Mike and my Zumba class. They are also doing it for charity. 

Everyone is split into teams: firefighters, Army Men, cowboys, robots and an airline pilot. So….yeah….lots of hotness all in one room. Brian swears he will go to church the next day, right hand up.

 

The show is interesting to say the least. Hot, sexy and just pure entertainment. 

At the after party, Andi spends one on one time with the guys. Craig gets drunk and annoys everyone. Andi tries to be nice and understanding. but even she is getting annoyed. The guys take him away to sober up. Craig just jumps in the pool with his clothes on with some other guy. She says the guys should realize they are on a date. I do understand that, but other than drinking too much, what are they supposed to do when she is having alone time with the other guys. 

Off topic, this preview for Maleficent looks amazing. Angelina Jolie is going to be phenomenal in this role!

She gets mad and yells at them and says she wants to get to know them, and while she understands they want to have fun, they need to remember they are on a date. She said y'all at least five times in that thirty seconds. 

Marcus gets the rose. 

Date Card 3: Chris gets the clue 'Let's get our love on track.' They go to the racetrack and she looks like she looks like she is channeling Jackie O.  He gets a makeover before they go to watch the races, drink mint juleps and bet on horses. 

Am I the only one who never got the appeal of this? It just sounds so boring to me. 

They talk to an old couple who have been together for 55 years. It is actually very sweet, especially when they talk about how they met and their secrets of being happy. 

That night, they enjoy drinks and talk about his past relationships. I think it is tacky when they do this because I certainly don't want to talk about my exes with the guy I am currently dating, but I guess it is producer encouraged. 

He gets a rose and they are treated to a performance from This Wild Life….who are decent. I never heard of them before, but wouldn't mind hearing more. 

Cocktail party time: I love her dress! There is more one on one time with the guys. I swear, y'all and stop are the new eeessss ok. If I had a shot for every time I heard these words tonight, I would not be here to write this recap because I would be dead. 

Nick V. sets up a special date with champagne. They talk about what they are looking for in relationships. 

Marquel does hand puppets, some dude breaks dishes and Craig apologizes via song. Someone needs to get a copy of this song, I am dying! This is hilarious! I'd actually give him another chance after this just because it is such a creative apology. 

Rose ceremony time. Eric, Marcus and Chris all have roses. The ones without roses at the end of the night will get sent home. 

Ron, Dylan, JJ, Marquel, Andrew, Tasos, Josh, Cody, Nick V, Patrick, Brian, Brett, and with the final rose tonight, Bradley all get roses. 

Craig, Carl and Nick S are all sent home. 

Carl is so sad! I want to hug him and comfort him…Clark Kent glasses and all! 

Nick S. is trying not to break down. 

Craig says he has to live with his mistake for the rest of his life.  You got drunk on a dating reality show, you did not kill anyone. Plus, you knew her for maybe 4 days, a week, tops. You will all live. It's ok! 

Join us next week for more of The Bacheorette. It all starts on a two-night event this Sunday only on ABC. 

Annddddddd, just for fun...

Tonight's lessons from ‪‎The Bachelorette ‬

1. Y'all and Stop are this season's it's (eeeesssss) ok.


2. Getting drunk and jumping in the pool and then stripping in said pool will not get you a rose.


3. Doing hand puppets and breaking plates are new ways to impress a girl.


4. The word literally is overused. Literally. 


5. Stripping for charity is a way to win a woman's heart.


6. Getting nervous in front of a girl is sweet. (I actually agree with this)


7. You will be serenaded by a random band no one has ever heard of when you have your first kiss.


8. Being on a beach and being flown via private helicopter to a snowy location, where meet an Olympic snowboarder is completely normal.


9. Singing a song about baring your junk in front of 13 other guys and apologizing while playing the guitar is creative, but still won't get you a rose. 


10. I still don't know what in bloody hell a pantsapreneur is.

11. Clark Kent glasses will also get you sent home. (although I totally dig them!)

I agree with just about everything above.  I would much rather have seen the guys go through the trial and error of building a kids playhouse (who's handy?) than the strip routine.  WHY do they make people sing, dance and strip when there are so many other skills and talents they might explore?  Especially when we're dealing with a possible mate.  Who's the fastest at wiring a lamp, etc.?  Assign them each a couple of toddlers to entertain for awhile.

Josh treated Andi like God's gift to men.  He was tongue-tied and gushed like a school boy.  How better to make a woman feel special?  Was it real?  Five years with no date?  Huh?  A handsome pro athlete without women pursuing him?  Did his career and groupies end five years ago.  I've got questions!

If I pretend not to know of Eric's passing, I can be objective.  I think he's much too world-informed for her.  She'd soon feel second-rate and while she's currently impressed, might perhaps, get tired of hearing about the travels.

Chris was sweet but I don't see Andi as a farmer's wife.  But I loved her 40's glam look.

Craig.  Oh, Craig.  * sigh *  Either he was half-lit when he wasn't outright drunk, or he's just obnoxious all the time.

I've been curious about Andrew but the previews indicate he might be there for the "wrong reasons."  Bummer.
