Episode 2: Malibu (5/29/2017) Empty Episode 2: Malibu (5/29/2017)

Post by Bach98133 Tue May 30, 2017 10:35 pm

For the first group date, eight men are picked, competing in an obstacle course to prove who's "husband material." It consisted of changing a plastic baby's diaper, putting them in a Baby Bjorn, vacuuming, cleaning hair out of a drain, and setting a table. Lucas wins, and in his time alone with Rachel, he reads her a poem, but Dean ends up getting the group-date rose. Peter gets the first one-on-one date with Rachel, and she brings her dog along, unofficially making it a two-on-one date. The three fly to Palm Springs, where they attend BarkFest by BarkBox. They have dinner, where Peter gets the rose, and they kiss under some fireworks. The second group date involved ten of the men, where they play basketball in front of strangers and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. After the game, a woman named Lexi comes up to Rachel, saying DeMario was her boyfriend and didn't break up with her, and Rachel goes to get DeMario. She tells him that he needs to get out, and he ends up eliminated. After all the chaos, Josiah gets the group-date rose. During the cocktail party, DeMario comes back, begging to be let onto the property.

Didn't even realize we were on the 2nd episode already. Had to catch up.

Thought it was kind of weird that they had the girls that were on Nick's season with her giving her advice on being the Bachelorette when none of them have ever been in that position themselves.

That WhaBoom dude has got to go! Can't even believe that the producers are that warped that they would even allow him to be on the show. He is just too weird to even talk about. I will say however that Blake going after him so early will be the death of him as well. Just sounds like he is picking and I'm sure Rachel will not like that attitude. Funny though that Blake is criticizing anyone considering his introduction on the season premiere was him talking about nothing but sex and the "amazingness" of his penis. Turned me off right away.

I liked the first one on one date with Peter. He seems like a good guy. I'm hoping he won't end up showing us a bad side before this is over.

The whole Demario thing has been so overused on this show. Can't they come up with anything new? The girlfriend said that she didn't know anything about it until she saw him on ATFR. I know that filming started shortly after that but are we supposed to believe that the producers didn't find out about this until after filming started? Why, oh why do they continue to want to put such garbage on this show? By putting this dude and then the WhaBoom guy on they immediately eliminated two possible suitors Rachel had to choose from.

WhaBoom is dumb and has no substance.  His Schtick wasn't well thought through.  I'm over it and it's quite annoying that he is still there.

So Peter - he is very nice to look at! He seems to have some brains to boot ;-) They seem to have a little chemistry.

DeMario - how stupid are you?  Arguing with a lawyer, goodbye idiot.

Why do I always feel like anybody that comes on the show who is an "aspiring" something, I write them off?  I immediately think they are there to promote themselves. If they aren't aspiring something, then they are personal trainers.  I don't see many of her guys fulfilling her long term needs.

Good point, Dazz. I think they may have got in over their heads with Rachel. The producers have gotten so use to picking any Tom, Dick, or Harry as contestants but they have a real accomplished, level headed lead in Rachel. I'm not saying that no other female lead has ever measured up to Rachel but very few have ever been as together as she seems to be. I'm sure she isn't going to settle for some slacker.

And before I forget, I thought it was hysterical after she got mad at Demario and dismissed him she walked back in the building and CH was standing there waiting to talk to her about it and she immediately shut him down! All he could do was walk away! LOL

Whaboom acts okay when he isn't doing his crazy shtick.  If he weren't doing that, he would be acting like everyone else and I thought he stood up to Blake's badgering well.  He made sense.  I don't know if I think the Demario situation is made up, but the fact that he came back to talk to Rachel again could be.  I was sad it was Demario, because I thought he was cute.  I felt kind of sorry for him even if he is guilty.  I think they have a couple of attorneys on the show.

I don't feel sorry for people who are liars. He might have tried to talk his way out of it but she had text messages that apparently proved to Rachel that the girl was telling the truth.

I think both Whaboom  & Blake will both go next. Rachel is going to eliminate the stupid drama between them. She is a strong woman who doesn't need this.

I think the producers encourage this type of dissension and I hope Rachel is the first who will stand up against the norm and send the ones packing that don't deserve to be there! I will be disappointed in her if she doesn't!  I have hopes she will be above all of it! I loved the way she walked away from Chris!

I forgot Rachel walked past Chris when he was waiting to talk with her.  Ha ha!  That was great.   I'm kinda surprised they didn't edit that out.  She's like, "Nope, not having it!" Laughing

I don't recall what program or source it was -- I know it wasn't a forum, but I remember hearing that there are estimated to be only a few contestants that the producers think will be compatible or viable choices as lifetime partners for the bachelor/ette.  The rest are chosen to make for good television.  I mean, it seems like more than a few when we're watching at least the first few episodes.  That is, until we learn more about them later.

I don't think Rachel was really disrespecting Chris by walking away.  I think she was more avoiding him because she was upset.  Chris isn't God.  It isn't that big a deal.  I'm sure he understands.

I don't think she meant it as a sign of disrespect either. I did think it showed a strength to do as she wished and not go according to the drama set up!Maybe this will be the one who has the confidence to make up her own mind and not be manipulated! (I'm hoping)

There have been quite a few strong bachelorette leads, such as Kaitlyn Bristowe.  She was pretty no-nonsense and seemed to do what she wanted.  There have been some others.  There will always be drama whether it's made up by the show or it just happens.  I think some drama is okay or it can get dull.

I have been fast forwarding most of this season so far. I don't find Rachel that interesting or compelling to watch...the contestants appear to be super boring and not even good looking. The only one that seems ok is the dude who got the first impression rose.
The dates seems stupid...more so than usual and that says a lot.
The fake drama is pretty obvious with the bad acting of the "ex girlfriend" and Demario (or whatever his name is).

Yeah the season has a lot of same content so far.  I usually find the very first episode not all that interesting, in particular the introductions out of the limo.  I believe it will get more interesting as the season goes by or towards the end.
