Season 23 - Week 5 Empty Re: Season 23 - Week 5

I thought it was a very good show tonight and everyone really brought it tonight.  I thought they all did a good job and there was some very good choreography.  I did not realize that James was injured as badly as he was nor that Jana's first husband had tried to kill her.  I found this season of the year that meant most to me better than some had been in the past.  It is getting really hard now to see any of these dancers leave.

I agree, SLA.  I thought everyone did a very nice job.  But I definitely would not have scored Marilu higher than Laurie.  I wonder if they're just trying to make it seem like she's not a shoe-in to win.  I also thought it was ridiculous that four of them were tied at the bottom.  Maybe Calvin suffered from going first, but I thought he was better than a couple of the others who were tied with him.  Loved loved loved seeing Jerry Rice again.  I adored him in his season, and I adored him as a football player.  It was great to see him show up to surprise Calvin at the end of the dance.  Smile  James must be really strong to not only have survived those injuries but to have recovered as quickly as he did.

I was surprised there was no elimination.  He said they're at the halfway point, but they have only eliminated 4 people, and they still have to eliminate another 5 or 6 to get down to the final 3 or 4, depending on what they do this year.  I'm not sorry about it - there's no one left that I really don't care for.  Ryan and Amber are probably the least of the dancers left, but Ryan is trying and getting better, and he's been growing on me.  Amber seems to me to have so much potential, but she's not living up to it.  And this is the second time we've seen her complain about her shoes - you'd think after the first time she would have taken the judges' advice and practiced in her show shoes during rehearsals instead of waiting until blocking to do it.  So I guess she'd be my pick for next one to leave.  But I don't actually dislike her, so there really is no one at this point that I'm dying to see off my screen.  I think that's a good thing!  Smile

I agree with LM on Calvin and it was fun to see Jerry Rice again.  I had voted for Jerry during his season and enjoyed watching him - it seems like it was so long ago now.  I did give some votes to Calvin last night because I just really like him and enjoy watching him dance plus I thought he did a good job last night and was better than some of the others he is tied with.  I don't remember a season where there four tied for the bottom with all 8's for scores.  After seeing and hearing about the serious injuries that James had and what he went through it is amazing that he can move like he does. IMO

To me there just doesn't seem to be a connection with Amber to Maks and I think that is Amber's problem not Maks'.  I also think that Ryan is improving every week and thought he had his best dance to date last night.  The one I was least impressed with last night was Marilu again and she would be my pick to be eliminated next. Season 23 - Week 5 Empty Re: Season 23 - Week 5

I could watch this kind of dancing every week.  I don't think we've ever had a group of such likeable and talented people - without having to drag along a dud.

mustang, we differ on Laurie and Marilu.  I thought Marilu danced beautifully.  But something was off with Laurie and Val (at least, for me).  I still believe Laurie will win but James also has a shot at the ball.

When Amber has no specific instructions for her arms, she holds one or both of them up as if she's waist deep in cold water and wants to keep her hands dry.  It bothers me.  lol.  Ryan is looking more comfortable and more graceful.  I don't know why I don't connect with Jana, despite the fact she dances well.  Terra amazes me.  Calvin is good, too.

As for the identical scoring, I believe it's a reflection of paragraph one.  No one is a horrible dancer.  We have the two stand-outs in Laurie and James, but I didn't care for the Paso performance this week.

OMG!!  That is too funny because you're right.  I hadn't thought of it that way, but now that you've said it, that's all I can see.  < lol >
