THE NINE REMAINING CELEBRITIES WILL EACH PERFORM A HOT NEW DANCE, AND PITBULL IS SET TO PERFORM AND GUEST JUDGE, AS LATIN NIGHT SIZZLES ACROSS THE BALLROOM, ON ‘DANCING WITH THE STARS,’
MONDAY, OCTOBER 17

At the End of the Night, One Couple Will Be Sent Home

“Episode 2306” – The nine remaining celebrities ready themselves for one of the hottest nights in the ballroom – Latin Night – with each celebrity performing either a rumba, salsa, samba, paso doblé, cha cha or Argentine tango, on “Dancing with the Stars,” live, MONDAY, OCTOBER 17 (8:00-10:01 p.m. EDT), on the ABC Television Network.

The night kicks off with Pitbull performing his hit song “Greenlight,” featuring Flo Rida and LunchMoney Lewis, then each celebrity will go on to perform a captivating and alluring Latin dance.

Pitbull will also join Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba and Julianne Hough at the judges’ table as a guest judge.

At the end of evening, one couple will be eliminated from the ballroom competition.

The couples will dance to the following songs:

Amber and Maks – Cha Cha – “Bla Bla Bla Cha Cha Cha” by Petty Booka

Calvin and Lindsay – Argentine Tango – “Hotel California” by Eagles

James and Sharna – Rumba – “Need the Sun to Break” by James Bay

Jana and Gleb – Argentine Tango – “Hands to Myself” by Selena Gomez

Laurie and Val – Salsa – “Light It Up” by Major Lazar featuring Nyla & Fuse ODG

Marilu and Derek – Cha Cha – “Echa Pa’lante” by Thalia

Can't complain about the music... looks pretty good!

Wish they had not chosen the Black-Eyed Peas version of "Mas Que Nada", though!

Besides James' and Sharna's Rumba I'm also looking forward to seeing Calvin and Lindsay do the Argentine Tango as well as Terra and Sasha with their Paso Doble.  I hope everybody does well.

I wish Ricky Martin would be the guest judge on Latin week instead of PitBull.  I did not care too much for him as a judge, but we'll see........guess it depends on how he treats my fave....lol.

I will admit to being a little worried about Terra's and Sasha's Paso. Ideally I think there are dances better suited to Terra. But she will probably surprise me, she seems to do that very thing quite consistently.

Calvin always makes me smile and Lindsay is a delight.

Classically, in a Paso Doble, the woman is supposed to be the matador's cape.  Maybe that's the direction that Sasha will go with his Paso Doble with Terra...?

I have a lot of faith in Sasha's instincts for choreography. He seems to know just what is right and will work.

Sasha has become my favourite male pro pushing Val down a notch. Well, second favourite, Tristan will always be number one for me!

Yes, me too.  I don't have enough words to praise Sasha.  He's awesome.

Given how much he is shining this season, can you imagine how incredible he is going to be next season when he gets Simone Biles?

The matador's cape is only one half of it. At the same time, she has to be the Flamenco dancer. These lines are hard to get for such a small person. Sasha will probably do more side by side and mirroring sections rather than being in hold.

I imagine teachers differ, but I was taught that the lady could represent any of four things -- the matador's cape, the matador's shadow, the bull, or a flamenco dancer.   I was not taught that there is a rule that says that she has to take on more than one role,  but I agree that the first and last of these are the most common roles we see on DWTS.

As always, it sure would be nice at times like this to see what the actual rules say on that highly secretive rules document that is given to the pros!

Until they sign the contracts, it isn't, but both Simone and Sasha seem to have made their own public Twitter contract and I can't see any reason why the producers would not match them up.   Size, energy levels, personalities, and Sasha's gymnastics background would seem to make them a perfect pair, don't you think?

This rule book is probably the best kept secret in the history of American TV. Does it even exist, or is it just used as a killer argument to reign in rebellious pros? Anyway, assuming it is really locked up in Rob Wade's drawer, I don't think it describes the dance styles in detail. That is left to the judges' opinion. Just take Kellie's trio Paso with Derek and Tristan. Bruno called it masterpiece theater and scored 10- for Len it wasn't a Paso at all (just flashing lights and crashing music), and he gave it a 7. The battle that followed between the two is legendary and was probably more intense than the dance itself.

Well, the judges SAY there is a rule book that is given to all the pros in the beginning of the season.  But this would be a great question to ask the pros when they allow the fans to interview them.

There is a single Video Diary on YouTube today with shorter entries by Laurie, James, Ryan, and Maureen.  Laurie and James are both cute and awkward over the thought of having to appear sexy in their upcoming Latin dances.  Ryan and Maureen seem a bit more excited in general.

James mentioned that Sharna was going to follow him to St. Louis so that they could get in some rehearsal time.  Unfortunately Sharna got pulled aside at the airport and had to be searched for a weird reason.  Because of that Sharna missed her flight and wasn't able to meet up with James.  Shocked

I didn't have access to the entire story, but I got the impression that it was a plastic drawstring on her clothing that triggered the search.  I didn't think plastic would cause a concern unless maybe there was some metal in it.

It has become a problem with recent technology. Explosives and functional weapons can be made of plastics without any metal. The time will come when you can only enter a plane totally nude. But in Sharna's case, that would be even more explosive apparently.

I can imagine the "radiate sexy" part wouldn't be easy for James and Laurie. Don't suppose either have ever heard "Okay, James, jump in that car and look sexy." Or, "Laurie, get on that balance beam in a completely seductive manner". Maureen as an actress will find it easier.
