Ok, my turn. Maks, I heard you say during season 18 you were way too old for this. Now it's season 23. Hello? It probably isn't the money. I also can't believe it is just an escape from the cleaning and the cooking. Maybe Petas's success with Nyle lit the fire underneath you. Whatever. Welcome back, buddy. Amber seems as much woman as Mel B or Laila Ali, so this should be fun.

I don't think that is going to happen. Tamar and Amber are on opposite sides of the "agreeable" scale. Tamar is difficult to please and enjoys finding fault. Amber is very personable and easy to get along with; I doubt we will see much tension in the relationship; I expect to see more teasing kind of fun between them.

Maks had a pretty active summer. He and Val toured all over with their show. All that physical activity probably got him in great shape.

Amber used to do after-show interviews with the DWTS cast, so I know her personality from how she interacted with Bindi, mostly, which was very engaging, very sweet and very supportive. Affectionate, too, but then again, Bindi hugged everybody. I don't know Amber's work outside of her interview stuff.

But I also think that Maks has mellowed a lot. Last time he was on the show, he won with a very sweet partner and I think he learned something about keeping things light. Then he started to have success with live dance shows, he got engaged to Peta, Peta got pregnant, Peta won the MBT, and there was a nice successful dance tour with lots of fans giving him love. Things are going GREAT for him. This show should not stress him this season like other seasons in the past. He should not feel like he has to prove anything to himself or others, as he felt last time he competed on the show (and every season before that). He's at a high point in his life.

So, all in all, I expect that he will seem like he is having fun this season.

Yes, let's just celebrate the old timers being back.

I'm still mulling over just what I really think about this pairing. I think I will reserve judgment until next week.

I am wondering if Peta truly approved that haircut Maks is sporting. Oh well, it'll grow.

Amber is lovely and graceful. But she got so nervous that she apparently forgot her routine and Maks had to push her along a bit to keep her on track tonight -- or so she told one of the folks back stage afterward.

And Maks has mellowed. He was funny. I like Maks when he's like that.

I enjoyed them.

Well, I'd rather wear my hair like that- if I still had enough hair, that is. I said earlier I expected him to keep it traditional, and he didn't. That routine had great potential and almost a contemporary twist about it. Maybe a bit too much for Amber to consistently perform it yet. Yes, Maks seemed very relaxed. Still, one thing hasn't changed: he is dancing full on. One could put a bag over his head (also to cover the haircut some of you don't appreciate apparently), and still his dancing style would be recognizeable in an instant.
