The Eight Remaining Couples Dance to Music from Favorite Musical Icons

Viewers Can Experience What It’s Like on the Ballroom Floor While Watching

the Pro Dancers’ Opening Number Online Through a Virtual Reality 360° View

“Episode 2207” – The remaining eight celebrities will dance to popular music from favorite musical icons, as “Icons Night” comes to “Dancing with the Stars,” live, MONDAY, MAY 2 (8:00-10:01 p.m. EDT) on the ABC Television Network. The couples will dance to music from such icons as Beyoncé, James Brown, Whitney Houston and Stevie Wonder. In addition, for the first time ever on the show, it’s men vs. women as the celebrities and their pro dancers get together for team dances, with the men as Team James Brown and the women as Team Beyoncé. Each celebrity will perform a Tango, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep, Samba, Foxtrot, Jive or Salsa.

As a special added treat, the pro dancers’ opening number will also be available in a virtual reality 360° view, which can be seen simultaneously online on “Dancing with the Stars’” Facebook page, [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and YouTube at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] It will allow viewers to experience the show like never before and make them feel like they are on the ballroom floor. It expands beyond the traditional bounds of a TV or mobile screen.

The leader board changed again, and Wanyá Morris rose to the top this week. The competition is close, and there will be a double elimination at the end of the night.

Hosted by two-time Emmy®-winning host Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews (sports host and “Dancing with the Stars” season 10 finalist), “Dancing with the Stars” is the hit series in which celebrities perform choreographed dance routines which are judged by a panel of renowned ballroom experts, including head judge, Len Goodman, dancers/choreographers Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba.

As someone who is not particularly a Beyoncé fan, I'm a little afraid the women got hosed there. But over all, it sounds like a fun night! Smile

I guess I don't understand how the two teams were selected and why one was called the men's team and the other the women's team but I thought the men's team did a better team dance then the women's team. Nyle never ceases to amaze me - I thought he did very well in the team dance. I am not a Beyonce fan at all and did not like the outfits the women's team wore as they reminded me too much of Beyonce at her Super Bowl performance.

As far as the individual dances tonight I thought some were better than others and while I like Ginger and Val I'm not so sure that was a perfect 10 dance. I am not a fan of Paige's but her and Mark's dance deserved the perfect 10 score more than Ginger and Val's - JMO.

I did think that Nyle's Fox Trot was much smoother and elegant than Wanya's and it deserved better than just one point more. I don't believe that they had a problem with the scoring for Nyle again tonight and I think he deserved the 2nd 10 that was taken away again tonight.

I was sorry to see Von get eliminated tonight but it is going to be hard to see most of these go from here on out.

What an enjoyable evening. My top picks were Nyle, Paige and Ginger. The foxtrot and waltz were so beautiful, I watched them a second time. We've got some talented people this year. But I didn't care for Wanya's foxtrot, mainly because it appeared he was running to keep up with his partner's legs.

SLA, it took a minute to occur to me that the men vs women referred to only the contestants. And I definitely felt the women lost badly. My brow was furrowed as I watched. Either the camera angle was horrible - or they were all over the place.

SLA - Singly is right - the men vs. women referred to the celebs. All the male celebs were on one team and all the female celebs on the other. I honestly was not crazy about either team dance this time around, and I think it was for 2 reasons: first, with all same-sex celeb teams, the celebs had no opportunity to learn from the pros of their gender. So the male celebs couldn't see how Val or Mark did things or get any coaching from them, and the female celebs didn't get to see how Lindsay or Peta did things or get any coaching from them. I think the overall dancing suffered a bit from that. Second, I didn't care for the medley aspect of it. Changing tempos made the dances seem a bit disjointed. And were those really the best Beyoncé songs they could come up with? Nothing really upbeat like the men had, so the dance didn't seem quite as fun. Other than that, I did like that the women's team tried some different things like switching partners briefly. That was nice. But in the end I think I was correct in thinking the women were getting hosed having to dance to Beyoncé.

I thought everyone did a really nice job with their main dances. I liked Antonio's tango the least. I just didn't think he really ever got the character of the dance, and his moves were not as sharp and crisp as they should have/could have been. Len was right that Nyle sticks his bum out, and I wish Peta would work on his posture. Don't get me wrong - I am amazed at what he can do on the dance floor, but I'm honestly beginning to feel like he's peaked. He doesn't seem to be improving at all after the first couple of weeks. I think he'll be there to the end, but I'm not sure I'd like to see him win at this point. Depends on what happens over the next couple of weeks.

I did love Ginger's waltz and Paige's jive. For me those were the two best dances of the evening. I enjoyed both foxtrots, but I thought they both suffered from the same thing - poor posture and at times a lack of 'grace' (for lack of a better word). Kim's salsa was fun as was Jodie's quickstep. I did see what the judges were talking about with the lack of body contact, but it was still a lot of fun. Von's salsa had some issues, but again was fun to watch.

I had a feeling Kim would be leaving, and I'm sorry to see her go. She was always enjoyable to watch, and I think she's been underscored a lot. But I'm glad that I was wrong about the second celeb being Jodie. After she got that second 9 she was talking about, I was really afraid she was going to be the second one leaving, and they were letting her go out on a high note. So I'm really happy that she's still around. I liked Von well enough, and he was a decent dancer. But he just never really seemed to be completely into it, so it was probably his time to go. Witney may not have helped him any either with some of her comments. I like her, but she seemed a bit "whiney" this season for some reason.

All in all, this was a really good night of entertainment. This is a really good group of celebrities - nice people and good dancers. I have no clue who's going to win. I'm not even sure who I want to see win. I think it might be Wanya. Lindsay's been doing a great job of teaching and choreographing for him. But I could also make a case for Jodie to win. I'm really enjoying her as well, but I'm not sure Keo is a good enough teacher/choreographer to pull that off. It's frustrating because I think she could be the best of the bunch with a different pro. Paige is great, but I read somewhere that she's had about 12 years of dance training, so maybe not. And there's always Nyle, who is clearly head-and-shoulders the best of the differently-abled contestants they've had. At this point anyway I wouldn't be upset to see him win. I really think any of them have a good shot right now.

Singly we agree on Wanya's Fox Trot and I think you are right about his legs in that dance.

Paige has had 12 to 13 years of dance training - her parents owned a dance studio. Here is a video of her showing some of her dance moves from October of 2015 and she could be almost referred to as a professional dancer compared to the rest of the contestants on this show.

All righty then! I know it's not ballroom experience, and I know that just because you've done other styles doesn't mean you can do ballroom, but she's a bit less "impressive" now to me. Up until just a few days ago, I thought she had no real experience. But clearly she already knew how to move and learn choreography, so she's definitely at an advantage. Still fun to watch, though. Smile

Yes, she's still good to watch but as mustang says, not as impressive as she would be as a beginner.

We've seen a lot of argument about whether or not traditional dance classes are an advantage or not. I don't know how there can be any question. They learn posture, graceful hands and arms, timing, and how to learn choreography.

When you think about it, though, I wonder how many actresses also took dance as kids.

No doubt about it. One of the biggest criticisms the judges have is that celebs don't finish their moves. The ones with dance training know how to do that, and it shows.

I always watch Paige and Mark because they are so good together but her near professional status leaves her off of my favourite celebs list. I guess I find others, like Nyle and Jodie more interesting.

What a night. Everyone looked great to me. But...I'd rather have seen Wanya go home. Jody's jive was the most engaging dance of the night. She was absolutely "in the moment" with that performance.

I've not been a fan of Antonio, despite living near Pittsburgh. However, I think he had a great night. That fluttering lift & spin he did with Paige was fabulous.

Though Nyle has been a favorite, for me, it was his worst night for timing. Still good, but I've begun to expect perfection, I guess.

It's beginning to look as if Ginger can dance anything. But I must say, for the last few weeks, I can't take my eyes off Val. With Derek gone, he's established himself as a master choreographer. He was adorable in that group Samba.

Of the group dances, I didn't care for Bruno's bisexual dance. It was just strange. Len's was a lot of fun and Ginger's hips were really going. I liked the old-fashioned flair. But I think Carrie Ann took the prize for drama.
