DWTS Fifth Week Empty DWTS Fifth Week

Post by SLA44 Fri Apr 12, 2013 1:02 pm

I copied the the following dances and pro couples from the DWTS Message Board:

Ingo/Kym-----------Cha-Cha-Cha------------Tony/Emma
Zen/Val--------------Arg Tango----------------Maks/Anna
Vic/Lindsay--------V Waltz-------------------Tristan/Emma
Aly/Mark------------Samba
Andy/Sharna------Paso Doble--------------Sasha/Emma
Sean/Peta----------Quickstep---------------Tristan/Chelsie
DL/Cherly-----------Tango---------------------Sasha/Chelsie
Kellie/Derek--------Foxtrot---------------------Henry/Anna
Jacoby/Karina-------Jive-----------------------Maks/Anna

According to Wetpaint Jacoby and Karina had not said what dance they would be doing and don't know who the professionals are that Aly and Mark with dance with yet. According to Bis their dance is the Jive so I put it in above. I copied Sharna's comment from Wetpaint regarding the dancing with the pros:

Sharna explained what the heck is going on with this side-by-side thing.

"The pro couple comes out and dances first for about 30 seconds,” she told On the Red Carpet. “We then dance with them, synchronized choreography side by side. It has
to be synchronized choreography for 15-20 seconds, and then we do our
solo pieces. So it's all and all going to be about a 2 minute number
from each couple. I don't know where they're going with it. I don't know
why we're putting a celebrity pairing against a pro pairing. To see the
difference, maybe, but it's going to be very, very interesting. It's
exciting and it's also frightening at the same time."

Maybe they're trying different things to keep folks interested in the show.

Didn't they do something similar a couple of seasons ago? It was a threesome with the celebrity, and 2 pros. I think they danced the entire dance together.

I think that was during the "All-Star" season and was toward the end of the contest......correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes they did that during the All Star season and that was pretty good I thought. You are correct newto and I believe it was toward the end of the season - didn't Maks dance with Kelly and Val after he had been eliminated? I'm not sure about this for 15-20 seconds thing though but I guess we will find out on Monday night. I can't even picture this with a dance like the Paso Doble!

I wasn't sure if it was the All-Star season, or the one before it.

It was the All Star Season - Was it Louis (?) that danced with Shawn and Derek?

Am I in the dark? Who are Emma and Henry? Part of the troupe?

It's difficult for me when there are more than one to focus on - even when it's a regular week. I try to watch the celeb but often find my eyes drifting to the pro. Don't know how I'll manage with two separate couples. But I guess if the foursome is in sync, it shouldn't be too great a problem.

Hi everyone. Hope you didn't think I abandoned you.
This sure is a lot of pressure. I wouldn't want to be dancing next to pros, not unless they promised to really tone it down. Singly's right--your eyes drift right to the pro. A little slip up is VERY noticeable and that makes it even scarier.
Twenty seconds is a LOT of time in dance time. That's many many steps.
Thanks to SLA for posting all the dances and pairings.
And, btw, don't know who Emma or Henry are. Maybe part of the troupe. There were some different pros way back during the initial seasons of DWTS but I don't think these two are from then.

Emma, Henry, Sasha and Witney are all part of the troupe. I've seen different reports different places that list all four of them dancing.
I believe what everyone is thinking about is the "trio" dance where the pairs are joined by another pro for the entire dance. It's been done twice - the All Star season and the season before where Val joined Maks and Melissa Gilbert. So that would be Seasons 14 and 15.
Tonight's dances will start off with the pro couple dancing for the first 30 seconds, then the celeb/pro couple will join them, and the two couples will dance in sync for the next 15 seconds, and then the pro couple will leave, and the celeb/pro couple will spend another 1 minute and 15 seconds finishing the dance. So this week's dances will be about 30 seconds longer than the usual minute-and-a-half.

In light of what happened do you think the show will be on tonight? Whatever they decide it will have to be nationwide and not like what happened during huricane Sandy when it was not aired in NY.

Thanks for the welcome, folks. Singly invited me, and I'm looking forward to chatting with everyone.

As someone from the Boston area, I would be surprised if they did not air the show. It's very difficult for them to reschedule air time for a prime time network show. Now, it's possible it will not air live here. It could be pre-empted for local coverage and shown at 2 a.m. or something like that. But I think everyone else will see it live, and most likely so will we - perhaps interrupted periodically for updates.

I hope I won't seem cold to everyone, but I hope they show it live here. They've been inundating us with coverage but honestly there's nothing new to report. They just keep telling us the same things over and over. We need a break from it for a bit. They can break in if there's something new to tell us.

The show is on here. They started with some words of acknowledgement and prayers for the people in Boston and then went right into it.

The Boston station is not showing DWTS tonight, but it is being shown on an alternate station, and we are able to pick it up on the Rhode Island ABC affiliate. So we're enjoying a break from the unrelenting news loop.

May I say how much I adored seeing Maks, Anna and Tristan again? Looking forward to the second dances from each.

Hi Widder - I don't recognize your screen name, but you might know me from the ABC DWTS board or perhaps the old Fox SYTYCD board? I used to post on both of them.

It's kind of hard to gather thoughts to write about this show tonight when something so much more important is happening.
Suffice it to say that Zendaya was amazing-a 10 in my book and theirs.
Kellie was equally terrific but only scored 9s. I thought they were equal. Tow different kinds of dances.
The bottom is the usual Andy and DL though both tried hard I think DL was a teensy drop better. Andy basically let his cape do the dance.
Jacoby was good-- he was. Did a mean jive and was quick with his footwork. A mix of 8 and 9.
Ingo seemed to have bottomed out. I thought he could go further in this competition but I can see that even though he can basically do the dances, he cannot catch up with Kellie or Zendaya.
The same for Sean except that I see him making progress. He still needs to slow a bit as he always is rushing it and loses the refinement of the moves.
Victor is also making progress. He is not the worst but he may go right after Andy and DL.
That's it for now.It's just a bad day/night.
