Third Week Elimination -- SPOILER

Post by Guest on Wed Apr 03, 2013 1:09 am

Wynonna took her elimination with good grace. I wouldn't be surprised if she found it a relief. Dancing is just not her place to shine, and it's good she didn't have to torture herself with it any longer.

Yes she did. Her performance last night was pretty bad, and she looked like she wasn't into it at all. I was surprised that she was eliminated.

I wasn't surprised to see Wynona eliminated. The bottom three was predictable. I'd like to see Lisa go next. The whole dynamic between her and Gleb is annoying. For a newbie, he's certainly full of himself. Rather off-putting.

All in all, I thought it was an entertaining evening in comparison to what we've seen in the past. The all-guy number was good. And that Macy's production was nothing short of fascinating! Demi's music wasn't rap. lol. And it's good to see Huey again. I kept wanting to see if he still looked good, but those darned shaded glasses! My only comment is that I'm sad for Tony Dovolani. Except for Melissa, DWTS has given him the bottom of the barrel many times. He deserves the opportunity to dance with contestants who have a better chance to stick around a lot longer. I sometimes wonder why he sticks with the show.

I agree with you on that one, Newto.

I have always like Huey Lewis, Singly. It was nice to see him performing.

I agree, as well, newto. Tony gets short-sticked nearly every time. Mark and Derek seem to get the people who can move. Perhaps they're requested. Val hasn't done too badly these past two seasons either. I'd like to see what Tristan could do with a good dancer. He's a cutie, and I love the Irish accent.

Singly, you may have hit upon the reason Derek and Mark seem to get those with better chances: they've requested them.

DWTS: Hello, Miss Celebrity? Would you come on Dancing with the Stars?

I think Kirstie Alley only agreed go on if she could have Maks.

Tony gets paired with the people who need a gentler touch. He gets the older ones, the emotional ones, the ones with problems. He gets the ones who could never EVER get paired with Maks--the ones who wouldn't survive one day of practice with a Maks type personality.
Just look at supportive Tony was of Wynonna. He defended her to Len, and even to herself when she put herself down and admitted how terrible she was. He genuinelyy looked like he cared when you see the expression in his eyes and how he warmly rubbed Wynonna's back.
Maks needs people with backbone who can take his tough exterior and self love.
As far as mentioning Kirstie that reminds me of a point. Kirstie was overweight just like Wynonna but Kirstie could move and did so, proudly. Wynonna was just like a boring blob. She didn't seem to really try. It was a blessing for her to go home because she would have been miserable continuing to have to learn these steps and then perform and not do well. She is used to being a successful singer. She knows it. Look, I can dance but you wouldn't want to hear ME sing. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Good post vic3! I just heard on ET how unhappy the cast of DWTS is with Len and how they thought he went too far in the way he criticized DL. Kind of like stomping on someone when they are down. Any thoughts on that vic3? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Wynonna was a LOT heavier than Kirstie Alley or Ricki Lake. I suppose it was Wynonna's agent's idea to put her on that show; if so, he or she did Wynonna no favors. Wynonna didn't move because she couldn't move. And she looked miserable the entire time she was there. It's a relief for us all -- Wynonna and the show's viewers -- that she has gone home.

Kirstie seemd to hide her weight better and was proportioned differently. She also moves in a sexier way. She waas absolutely gorgeous and sexy looking in "North and South" where I first 'met' her. Even though she gained weight she still felt and acted like herself. Wynonna probably was never confortable in her own skin and doesn't seem all that confident even though she is a top notch country star. Being a star does not necessarily come with the prerequisite of majoor self confidence. Sometimes one just falls into it and plays a role but deep down they are who they are. Thanks for the appreciation. As far as Len goes, he just is a stickler and gets cranky and bent out of shape when he sees ballroom being butchered and taken to the outer limits. Sometimes he just gets frustrated with one of the "stars" and keeps riding them. If they really improve he would give them credit. He hasn't been too kind to DL but he wasn't kind to Wynonna either. He basically calls it as he sees it an dhonestly, most of the time I find him to be correct as far as truly judging ballroom/Latin the way it should be judges. I also think that that is his particular role, or niche shall we say, for this show. That's how he has to be. Each of the judges has a particular persona. That's what makes for part of the entertainment and also gives the viewers something to go on when they have no real clue (though the best and worst are fairly obvious). The judges interact and make their "arguing" look real.

if you look back at what I wrote in my thoughts about the show, I agreed with Len as far as this weeks salsa. I wrote that it was "jazzmatazz and soul with a side of basic (salsa)". DL did NOT do a salsa..just a few basic steps of it for a few beats. Almost the whole dance had steps to go with the beat and type of song (Sex Machine). Sure, it's confusing to them because that is not the kind of song one would hear when doing a salsa. It makes it that much harder to dance to. And Cheryl should have choreographed it differently. She was probably playing to his strengths as she knew he couldn't do the hip action needed for this dance. Len gave him a 5. I gave him a 5.5 (torn between 5 and 6). Hope this helps.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

No offense. We're allowed to have different views on things.

I tend to agree with you that Wynonna doesn't seem comfortable in her own body, while Kirstie always was. But I still think Wynonna was lots heavier than Kirstie.

I'm sorry gin but I'm not sure what you are asking. I pulled up both of their twitter's and I didn't see anything that seemed strange other than it looks like Sean now has a Talent agent or something like that. Someone associated with Talent Sources whatever that is. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I have to agree with WW here. Wynona looks much heavier to me. Despite her weight, Kirstie had a waist. She also had grace, and Wynona was lacking there.

I still say Len was OTT with his critique. It's one thing to tell someone the performance wasn't up to par. But as I sat here, the first week, and heard him with DL, I remember being miffed at his remarks. And I DON'T like DL at all! Len was cruel.

Then came this week. He was disparaging to DL - and to Wynona. Just not professional comments for a TV show. What? Being an ass is okay if I'm a judge? Another lesson for the younger generation. You can be rude and cruel if you are in a position to be so.

I'm sorry, guys. I already ranted on the Survivor thread. I'm really feeling the outrage this morning. But the morals and manners of susceptible people are being destroyed. Compassion and righteous indignation are out the window and contempt and flippancy are taking their place.

Hi WW. Our "different view" was ont heir weight so i decided to research it. Seems that Kirstie was 230 (bfore DWTS). Wynonna was 250 then dropped 60 which she has kept off. Kirstie is taller than Wynonna so that makes weight appear to be proportioned differently. So it's basically a tie and we therefore AGREE!!![You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Your rant is justified and i agree about the direction society seems to be heading. Sad. it all goes along with people texting rather than talking. Socialization skills are being lost...
As far as Len, even though I stand my comments regarding his SCORING, the WORDS he chose to critique were rather low and nasty. He is like the Simon Cowell of DWTS. Then he makes those faces. It's sort of analogous to your little child bringing home so awful creation he/she made in school, and you saying that it's ugly. You shuld praise him, hang it on the fridge, give him a hug and say how you appreciate it. Len could have said how difficult it is to learn these dances especially when you are not really feeling it. Then go to to say that the dance lacked Latin motion and work on that for next time. But he plays bad cop here and as I said they all have a role. it is scripted in that way too. If all three judges were sweet and coddled thre emotions of the contestants, then there would be less to talk about. So ABC is just doing their thing

Not to say anyone is right or wrong here, but if Wynonna was 250 and dropped 60 and kept it off, someone's scale is off. I know women who are close to 200 lbs and they are half the size of Wynonna. I also remember pictures of Kirstie getting in/out of a car a couple of years ago after losing weight and they said she was a size "8"!! You can stretch a size 8 somewhat but Kirstie wasn't even close to it. But I do believe Kirstie is comfortable in her body whatever size she is. Very Happy

Exactly what I was thinking, Reindeer. If Wynonna started at 250 and dropped 60 pounds, that would make her 190 on Tuesday when she was eliminated. There is no way she was 190 on any scale with which I'm familiar.

I wonder if the 250 was the weight after she dropped 60 pounds. That would seem more like it to me because she definitely looked like more than 190 pounds on DWTS. I know they say the TV cameras add 10 pounds but I don't know and maybe it was due to her height which I have no idea how tall she is. Scratch

The height can make all the difference. My friend and I weigh almost the same. She's 5'4" and I'm nearly 6'. HUGE difference in clothing size.
